I absolutely love that you shared this story. Not everything is going to go the way you plan and sharing the good and not so good moments gives a balance to the reality of life. I had to scan the other comments to make sure folks were being kind and was happy to see that they were overwhelmingly supportive. It says a lot to who the two of you are and the respect people have for you. Feeling embarrassed and showing humility equates to integrity in my eyes and that is nothing to be embarrassed about

We are really glad we ended up sharing it too! As we stood on that oyster bed and were freaking out, we were like "well this sucks, now the vlog is ruined," but as our situation improved and we got help, we figured if anything, we could teach one person to not take their inflatable kayak there haha. Thankfully everyone has been very kind (no blocking trolls yet!) and we are very glad that we are okay and beyond grateful for those who helped us! Thanks for always being so supportive Jymn!

Nothing to be embarrassed about. It makes for an interesting story for the viewers. The scariest kayaking experience I've done was near lake Conroe in TX. We were in a slough/creek like area and it was kinda creepy. You just knew this place was an alligator haven. Sure enough we had a huge alligator jump into the water about 25 yards ahead of us. We kept going forward though because he was under water. On our way back we saw him again swimming in front of us. Biggest gator I've seen while kayaking. Usually gators are pretty skittish and they'll dive under water but this one wasn't so intimidated by us. Eventually he went under water as we got closer and we paddled quickly passed it. I later watched a video of a kayaker who actually had an alligator attack him. I'm more reluctant now to kayak in areas with alligators.

Holy cow that is terrifying! We were a bit nervous about that kayaking in Orlando, but the water was crystal clear and didn't see any. Hoping you weren't in an inflatable kayak hahaha, they don't seem alligator jaw friendly!

WOW what a story! So glad that you guys are safe! Don't be embarrassed of this story. Things happen during adventures, and we have had our fair share of that. Definitely take it as a learning experience. We got stuck in the snow stranded on a mountain a couple of weeks ago after pulling off to the side and were so embarrassed because we should have known better (no 4 wheel drive). You definitely have helped us because we own that same kayak and will be more safe when we use it!

Oh gosh, glad y'all are okay! That is another fear of ours and it's funny because we went into this weekend thinking our biggest concern was getting stuck in the sand...little did we know haha! Were y'all able to get help and get out quickly? And our biggest tip for the kayak is to just make sure things are deeper than 6 inches lol. Normally this is not an issue, since we kayak in lakes and areas with predictable water levels, but if you're kayaking anywhere with a tide, or with sharp bottoms, maybeeee skip it!

My husband and I have also had some unplanned kayak adventures that involved getting stuck on an oyster bed and later being really close to calling the USCG as winds unexpectedly picked up during an already fierce fight with the tides. I thought our kayaking days might be over but now we have the same inflatable kayak as you and I’m so paranoid about popping it! All that to say, thanks for sharing your adventure, glad you were ok and you’re not alone in experiencing kayak surprises!

Wow! That’s wild that you have an oyster bed story too! 😱 Those suckers are NOT fun! Hopefully your kayaking adventures have only gotten better!

Glad you got rescued though, and great to see the beach- we are in week 10 of lockdown and not been outside of our town for months, so are dreaming of our next adventure. We had to be rescued once from lake in North Carolina when a boat we hired broke down miles from anywhere - we felt embarrassed and the guy who rescued us was not impressed that we didn’t know how to tie knots even though my dad was in the navy! Ever since the Q&A video where you hinted something happened on this trip, I've been waiting for this one. My prediction going into it was you parked too close to the water, but when you woke the next morning not surrounded by the sea it was a mystery going forward 🤣 If I'd been in your shoes (which picturing it I so easily could have been. This is totally the sort of thing I'd be up for, thinking no need for a guide, the water's placid enough) I'd have been feeling just as embarrassed as you described. Yet it's funny how when you look at a situation from the outside, it's never as bad and you don't need to be embarrassed. I'm sure we all have a story like this to tell, and if we don't, either that person is lying, or their disaster is yet to happen to them 😉 Loved the storytelling, I was very much hooked from start to end. Pleased your both safe and I hope your feet have healed okay - I imagine the salt water on the cuts was pretty rough!

It's so funny because going into the weekend we researched a ton about how to not get stuck on sand, tide levels, and even bought wood to park on to avoid what we thought was the worst that could happen to us. Looking back we laugh at how that part turned out totally fine and it was the kayaking that did us in! 🤣 Here's to hoping this is our one disaster story we will ever have to share! We are laughing now just thinking about how wild it was and how lucky we got. And thankfully our feet have heeled up and we didn't get any weird infections (we cleaned the cuts out ASAP upon returning to the van). 🙌
