Weekend Market Prep Vlog | Market Prepping | Crochet Along With Me

Ойын-сауық

Hey y’all! I tried to do some market prep over the weekend and this is what I got done! Not a lot but, working full time and kids to tote around - I think I’m doing OK! Learning to give myself a bit more grace these days. My market is this Saturday, the 10th, and I’m excited yet, as always, don’t feel prepared 🤪

Here's my take on the popularity of amigurumi and why I will 1000% continue with it in my own crochet business... First, I wouldn't call the niche over saturated yet. There's plenty of newer businesses that start up and start selling amigurumi right away because there's still exponentially more customers looking for cuddly plushies than there are people selling cuddly plushies. Second, I don't necessarily see other vendors selling the same thing as competition because while there usually is some overlap between what we all do, we're not all identical products wise, and we're def not identical personality wise. I'm gearing up for two markets this weekend and from what I've seen you and I have like literally only used ONE of the same pattern and you did it in a completely different yarn brand AND color (if you're curious, it was the tofu turtles! I used bernat for mine though! And I did make cows, but I used madeline mae co patterns for them, and I made bees, but of course, I used my own bee pattern lol. I did make other turtles but I used all from jades newer sea turtle leg variation and did it in jumbo yarn and added flower petals, so even our larger turtles are way different. I didn't make heart buddies at all or strawberries). Aside from just product differences, you and I have really different vibes I feel like (and you're really funny on camera, by the way!), so our set ups look and feel completely different at markets. So there essentially is no real competition. ALSO, it's worth noting that good event hosts go out of their way to make sure there aren't several of the exact same types of vendors at their events. I initially look for shows like that, personally. It helps. As you establish your business, you'll figure out the things you like doing, the things you don't like doing, what your customers like, what they don't and that's how your "brand" will come to be and your brand will be what sets you a part from other businesses in the same category. Look at how many successful companies just sell clothing. It's never just going to be about the products we stock. Now, as far as getting into flowers, I've heard of businesses doing that. HOWEVER, I personally wouldn't, and maybe this is a natural bias because I don't love making them, but flowers are pretty much primarily going to be for gifts. Which means you're kind of limiting who you're selling too. For instance, in January, Christmas is over and it's not quite Valentine's season just yet, and it's not a popular month for birthday's and there's no gift giving holiday associated with January, so in an already slow retail month, doing just flowers might result in even fewer sales. Just something to think about. If you want to get into flowers, I'd do flowers AND some amigurumi. 1. It makes a good companion gift wise and 2. I feel like more people would buy a plushie for themselves before they'd buy flowers for themselves, but that's an unverified statistic lol. Just my thoughts. Also, sorry this was long haha.

Thank you for your input! That's definitey something I wouldn't have thought much about, as far as the flowers. It's a good point to bring up, too! I will agree, I think we all bring something different to our businesses, I'm still trying to find that one thing, that sets me apart. I'm getting there - I think haha

Also, here's unsolicited advice, when you're posting a video, you should use more tags. Those tags are what people search to find your video, so by not using many, it's a little harder for you to be found. For this video, I'd add "Crochet market prep" "Crochet market vlog" "Crochet with me" "Crochet & chat" "Crochet business vlog", etc. You used some variations of a couple of those, but try to think about what you'd type into the search bar to find this type of video and use those phrases. It's also good to work a couple of them into the description too. You shouldn't keyword stuff (using all of them in the description in a way that's not natural), but use a couple of them. For instance, you could say something like "In this crochet business vlog, I'm working on market prep. Feel free to crochet with me as we chat about all things crochet business!". In that example of few of those long tail keywords were used, but it wasn't "too much" and doesn't sound unnatural for the viewer who is reading your description. Also, you should add an end screen. You don't even have to make a graphic for it, but just at the end of this video, add an end screen linking to the first crochet market prep vlog you've posted on your channel. THEN, go back to that first video, and if it doesn't have an end screen, link to your second crochet market vlog. Then, go to that second video, and link to the third and so on and so forth. This way, if someone videos this video and loves your vibe/style, they'll click the end screen to go another market prep vlog, and then basically be able to binge watch all your market prep videos one after the next after the next. That'll really help boost that watch time, as well for monetization purposes.

Ahhh unsolicited advice is totally welcome! Thank you so much for this advice!! I need to sharpen up my KZread skills and the descriptions/tags, really need some fine tuning. I do everything from my phone and some things - like this - really needs my attention on the computer lol
