The Disco periode of the Bee Gees was only from roughly 1975 to 1979. As they have made music since the early sixties to 2001 then the Disco was only about 10 % of their whole career.

That's a misconception. They have been famous since late fifties. They were already famous when they were asked to make music for the movie,"Saturday Night Fever". They had already written these songs and put them on the movie and album. That's when they became UBER PLANET FAMOUS. So people think that's their only genre. It's not. They've had hits since.😁👍💜

They did sooooo many songs that weren’t disco. These brothers have been singing since the 1960s. They got really hot in the 70s and they continued in the 80s and even into the 90s it’s a matter fact I think they did music until Maurice died in 2003 and robin in 2012. You will never hear music like this again. They are phenomenal.

Everyone talked sh*t on disco but coming from someone who was in her late teens/early 20’s when it was popular...it was a blast! If you like to dance (which I am guessing you do) you would have loved it! So much fun! One of the best times of my life!

These are brothers they have sang since they were 6 the twins and Barry was 9. They write all their music. There is a HBO special on their lives. They have so many good songs you could never get tired of listening to them. The younger brother did a solo career but passed at 30 years.

Awesome tune!!!!! I’m 60. I saw them in 1978. Was amazing, one of the best days of my life!!!! Their not a disco group. They did a handful of songs but they’re much MORE than that. Their music started in the 60s and went until early 2000s! Spanning 50 years😜

A little trivia about this……a music video was made for this song in 1978, but wasn’t shown to the public until 26 years later, in 2004. It shows the brothers singing in a darkened studio, layered over background video filmed while driving the 3 mile strip along “Motel Row”, which is now Sunny Isles Beach, FL. Most of the motels which appear in the video are now closed or demolished, including several whose names are reminiscent of Las Vegas resorts. Being they were living in Miami Beach by then & Criteria Studios (where they recorded) was only a few miles from “Motel Row”, guess it all makes sense🎼!!

Only during the Disco era, they recorded ballads, love songs etc years before disco and decades after. Mainly because they were at the time the Best Disco song writers of that era...I grew up in the 50's 60's 70' and watch their music fit in at every decade, not a whole lot of bands or groups have lasted as long as the Bee Gees.

Yes, the Bee Gees were huge during the disco era, but also so much more before and after. You mentioned listening to Massachusetts, so that's a 'before.' Try some after, too: Immortality (with Céline Dion), Alone, For Whom the Bell Tolls, You Win Again, One, Wedding Day, Man in the Middle...

They made music from the time they were children in the 50s until 2003 when Maurice died then, Robin and Barry went on in their own ways, Of course Robin died in 2012, but Barry still makes music. Try some of their other stuff "words" :to love somebody" "one" "love you inside out" "you win again "

They never considered themselves disco, that came from radio stations, as did the disco backlash later. Their music was used in the movie Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta being a dancer, but they never wrote "disco" music specifically. They called themselves blue-eyed soul, R&B. They wrote TO LOVE SOMEBODY for Otis Redding back in 1967, but he died before he could record it, so they recorded it themselves. They have soooooo many songs that are soul! ENJOY!!

  • @carolrose8793

They weren't Disco. They were the Bee Gees! Their music was used in the Classic Disco movie Saturday Night Fever, so they were pigeonholed into Disco...but they are SO much more! From the 60s to now (with Barry's new album Greenfields), the Bee Gees have been writing, producing and performing incredible music for themselves and Many Many other artists as well, giving back to their fans with instantly sold out concerts all over the world and beautiful albums with the most soulful, classy love songs ever! Love the Bee Gees! IMO, the very best Pop group of all time.

Bee Gees were Never Disco. Those songs were being written when Robert Stigwood (manager) asked them for three songs for a “little movie”. Barry sent over five demos, Robert asked them to finish them up and materialized them. All those songs went into the movie that was labeled a disco movie. The Bee Gees songs are what made that movie the biggest soundtrack in all of music history. Bee Gees were never disco. They did not want to be labeled anything; they just wanted to write and perform great music. They only lasted five decades!
