It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that: the Prophet said: “A woman may be married for four things: Her wealth, her lineage, her beauty or for her religion. Choose the religious, may your hands be rubbed with dust (i.e., may you prosper).” (Sunan Ibn Majah 1858) Do not marry the (Mushrik) women who assign partners to Allah until they believe (became âmenû) and certainly a believing concubine is better than a (free) woman who assigns partners to Allah, even if you like her. Do not marry (your women) with men who assign partners to Allah until they believe (became âmenû). A believing slave is better than a (free) man who assigns partners to Allah, even if you like him. It is them who invite (you) to fire. Yet Allah is inviting you to Heaven and Forgiveness with His Will and explaining His Verses to mankind. It is hoped that they will be mindful through this. (2/Al-Baqarah-221) That's the view of the deen on that topic. But unfortunately when it comes to our Muslim community (and also other communities) most of them are seeing the own values much more important than the ones of the deen. But why is it like that? The problem is just simple: the soul. Everybody is created/designed with a soul (91/Ash-Shams-7) which at the beginning wants to follow the path of the devil and it always commands the evil (12/Yusuf-53). There is a path of Shaytan and a path of Allah. And to fix this issue in the Muslim society it's inappropriate to take the own cultural/national/.... values in a higher position than the Islamic values. Because this could cause much trouble. So holding to the rope of Allah is inevitable!

My mom is from Europe and my dad is from Asia. Very different cultures. I also married someone from a different culture. I did get divorced and part of the issues were his culture. Now if he was a practising Muslim like he protrayed himself, we would have been fine. The fact is that a lot of people hold culture and their family above Islam. That's not how it's supposed to be.

I agree. What I’m saying is that we should not reject someone because of their race. It’s crucial to know who your spouse is , what he’s like before you marry. That’s another story 🙌

@Zahraa Berro Definitely and I 100% agree with you. I have actually been rejected previously simply because I was mixed. It's been an issue for myself and I would never reject someone for being from a different race. That being said, culture can really impact a relationship and that's what I have learned in my marriage. Just be cautious as to what culture your spouse is from and if they are more cultural then religious. It does impact a marriage and should be looked at closely before getting married. If two people are raised in the same country it makes things so much simpler because their culture are closer to one another (even though their parents are from different places).
