1. What exactly IS the Weehoo Turbo?
The Weehoo Turbo is a bit of a cross between a traditional bike trailer and a tag along bike. Like a trailer, your child can sit securely and comfortably in the recumbent seat and harness. But like a tag along bike, they can also enjoy being out in the open air and kids have the option to pedal.
2. What’s the main advantage of a Weehoo Turbo over a traditional bike trailer?
With a single wheel in back, vs. two on a traditional bike trailer, the Weehoo opens up more possibilities for narrow trails and single track that would be inaccessible with a wider trailer on two wheels.
The Weehoo is much easier to navigate around (or over!) low branches or rocks along narrow trails. With one wheel, the Weehoo is also able to remain upright and balanced on uneven surfaces, as compared to a bike trailer that can bounce back and forth on two tires, creating a bumpy and sometimes uncomfortable ride.
3. What’s the best age to ride in the Weehoo Turbo?
We’ve seen kids as young as 18 months riding in a Weehoo Turbo. The youngest child we’ve put in the Turbo is our 2.5 year old. As a very tall 2.5 year old, the harness can be pulled tightly enough to secure her safely.
The chest strap is looser than we would prefer, but despite all her wiggling, the buckle and harness keep her safely confined. And once she grows a bit more, it will be perfectly snug.
With a weight capacity of 80 lbs., our 69 lb. 9-year-old was still a fine fit. While I wouldn’t have him ride with me on a normal basis, this does show what a great solution the Weehoo can be for older special needs kids who need extra help but are too big for a standard bike trailer.
4. How does the Weehoo adjust to fit different sized kids?
The Weehoo Turbo’s seat can be loosened to slide along a seat track and tightened at the appropriate distance from the pedals. This can be done without tools by twisting a knob underneath the seat.
5. How do you load and unload kids from the Weehoo?
With only one wheel in back, loading and unloading can be quite a balance act. Keeping the adult bike upright is required and really must be done with the adult bike leaned against a tree, bench, or your car.
6. How do you mount the Weehoo Turbo to your bike?
Mounting the Weehoo to a bike is quick and easy, and just requires a seat post! Mount the hitch to the seat post and slide the hitch and one of the six various-sized shims (included with purchase) onto the seat post. Since the hitch and shim take up 2″ of space on the seat post, you can’t ride with the saddle at its lowest position.
Once the hitch is mounted, the trailer arm simply drops on top of the hitch and it is secured using a quick-release pin.
For storage or transportation, the tow arm can be taken off the Weehoo to make it more compact. As a result, before we can mount the arm to the hitch on the bike, we need to reattach the tow arm to the Weehoo first.
7. What about storage space?
While the Wehoo offers less storage than a traditional bike trailer, it still has enough pockets and storage spaces to bring along most things you need.
Bottom Line
While standard trailers and child bike seats certainly serve an important purpose, and are necessary when hauling very young toddlers, the Weehoo Turbo is by far our favorite way to bring the kids 2.5+ along for the ride. It’s really the most fun for everyone!

    What happens to the child's feet if they fall asleep? Do they drag on the ground?

    If your child was tall enough they could. Our tall 2.5 year old’s feet just dangled. But certainly something to be aware of!

    Hey, just bought one for my child and I have noticed a wobbling when riding. Is that normal??

  • @Twowheelingtotsbikes

    It should not feel wobbly. Can you pinpoint where the wobbling is coming from? Are you using the right shim over your seat post? The trailer should have come with 6 different shims for different diameter seat posts.

    How bumpy is it for trail use without shocks and suspension? Is it unbearable for the rider? Do you get a lot of complaints? This was originally suggested to me as one of the better options for off road biking

    At what size the kid can touch the pedals ?

  • @Twowheelingtotsbikes

    @Twowheelingtotsbikes

    2 ай бұрын

    At three years old, they might be just able to reach them, but by four they should be able to solidly reach the pedals. (For the average kid) the Blat model doesn’t have pedals, but has platforms that are closer and easier for shorter legs to reach and rest on them.

    Any mud/grime getting thrown on the child? Seems like it could need a mud flap behind the adult's rear wheel.

  • @Twowheelingtotsbikes

    The mud guard on the mounting arm helps a lot. With a child sitting so low to the ground, they can get dusty on looser dirt trails. Many of our testers prefer wearing sunglasses to keep any dirt out of their eyes.

    Is there danger of debris from rear tire hitting the child especially on unpaved tracks?

  • @Twowheelingtotsbikes

    @Twowheelingtotsbikes

    2 жыл бұрын

    While this has never happened to us, yes, there is that potential. There is a small fender on the Wehoo's towing arm behind the bike's rear wheel to help prevent this, but in an open situation like this, it's certainly still possible for debris to hit the child.
