With Regina’s heavy clay soil, Weed Pro recommends watering your lawn daily for 5 to 10 minutes per zone. Watering longer than that often means that water is simply running off your lawn and down the street.
In White City, Emerald Park and Pilot Butte, your sandy soil doesn’t hold much moisture, instead water just runs through the sand and past the root zone of the grass plant. Therefore Weed Pro also recommends light frequent watering for sandy soil.
If we are experiencing 28C+ degree weather, then watering twice a day will keep your grass green throughout these hot spells.
We also recommend watering early in the morning between 4AM to 7AM and/or early in the evening between 5PM to 7PM. These times of day are cooler and will give the grass plant the most amount of time to absorb the water.
Watering at night should be avoided as it encourages molds to develop in your lawn.
