@@randbaldwinembrace the dark side of the force 😂. Anyway, do whatever you like, but the instawp is the prepared version Jamie offers. You can also do it on local and get all the resources yourself

Awesome but i dont see anything on the front and there is no home page. I clicked all the buttons in the menu same thing only page title shows up. It would have been great if you had a copy of this in instawp. so we can learn how they do it. gutenberg is not elementor. it has a higher learning curve for sure. But i want to go into gutenberg because of the speed it loads.

I like this format a lot as it really shows the current state and potential of visual page building in WordPress. Gutenberg devs should watch this to improve things further. Personally at the moment I would probably install a block library like Spectra to have more advanced possibilities on hand. Please keep this series going Jamie!

When I mess up images in a gallery and want to change it quickly to a different configuration, such as to row block instead of gallery, the list view is extremely powerful for that. You can just drag the images out of there individually or bulk select. No need to remove the gallery block and add the images all over again.

The logo section gave me hives remembering how I used to have to do that in Gutenberg when I used it, happy for Gutenberg users that they will finally have grid as build-in option

What a grrrrreat idea @jamiewp this is. Having watched last weeks and this weeks show, I think, with maturity, you could select the person who built the page the quickest with core WordPress go up against a chosen expert in any other Page Builder like Divi, Elementor or WP Bakery and/or Block based themes like Generate Press and Kadence. I think what you've always tried to showcase on the channel is how adept Core WordPress is becoming and as these battles continue and WordPress is upgraded again, the differences between Core and all the themes narrows.

It would interesting to see a third contestant building alongside us humans. The best AI builder so far and compare results. Surely they would want to sponsor as well?

Really should use Greenshift theme and plugin. Might need the pro animation addon to do the changing header color without custom CSS.

The purpose of this serie is the use of Gutenberg. Sure Greenshift is interesting specially for the animation side but as the other advanced block libraries you will stuck in it. And, as Gutenberg progresses, more and more duplicates in terms of functionality will appear. Another solution is to use portions of CSS code (easily generated by AI) or plugins. Because they want to do a lot of things, block libraries are often limited.

​@@michellaigrand5767 According to Jamie himself, the participants are welcome to use whatever tools they want to use. It is not limited to core blocks only. I will say that due to the nature of Jamie's channel that FSE templates are expected.

where is Kim building. might have not shown it but did she create a blank page in dashboard and call it sample page? then rename it home page. Then set it to the static home page in settings reading? Ive done that and nothing shows up on my site. I think because it's drawing from a 'front page' template in the site editor?

very interesting. About the header section, which would be the best approach to manage different header version between desktop and mobile devices?

do you do a breakdown on how they both use the gutenberg editor step by step because the last video was too fast to see what they were doing?

@@jamiewp yes for the live stream videos, it would be great if we could click to the part where they give a breakdown on what they did. Another option would be if you could share the design that one of the contenders made in instawp so we can learn from this. great videos as always. One question though, i am using astra theme with gutenberg and it has a builtin header and footer builder. Above the main header i created another header but because i changed the main header into transparent for some reason i can not give the above the main header a background color. Is there a fix for this? I changed the background color to orange but i can not see the change on the live site.

Quality before speed. How about that? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this. It just makes me want to scream "how would you do it if you had a little more time." Teach us to do it right, not cheap.
