I followed the guide and configured a Vigor 2866 router. The connection using OpenVPN GUI or OpenVPN Connect is done correctly. But sometimes I can't reconnect anymore and have to restart the router. The error message is: DHCP assign IP error.

Please contact support in your country for further assistance. We may need to check your config in more detail to determine the cause.

Thanks for making this video. It appears since the December firmware rollout, OpenVPN uses the Default Certificate dropdown. Will this impact anything?

We do not expect any impact, but if you do notice anything please send an email to support@draytek.com.au so it can be investigated.

I want to use a vpn of my own that I have set up on a pc in my home country so that I can use my own vpn on my devices when abroad. I can use it on m’y pc my iPhone and iPad but would like to use it on my Nvidia Shield, there is no support on this device and the apps I can see on play Store are all for paid services. Any suggestions how I could get my vpn on my Shield?

One solution is to put your devices behind a router with a VPN connection. if you need to connect the Shield directly, you might be stuck with having to used a paid service, but try Googling "nvidia shield free vpn". One that came up for me is this one - zoogvpn.com/how-to-get-free-vpn-for-nvidia-shield/. However, please don't take this as a recommendation. I'm not familiar with ZoogVPN, and you tend to get what you pay for when it comes to VPNs.

Hello, how do I download the user and CA certificates to install them on a Grandstream IP phone and be able to connect with Openvpn?

Hi, we haven't tried this one ourselves but it may be possible to use the .ovpn file that the router can generate. Google "grandstream ".ovpn" config file". However, it may possibly need to be edited, which might require some advanced knowledge or help from the Grandstream forums. See the last reply on this forum post for example - forums.grandstream.com/t/grandstream-openvpn-setup/44325/3

Hi Darren, We have 2 customers connecting to our network via VPN. Customer A through site-to-site and Customer B through Dial-In using OpenVPN. The computer that Customer B used for OpenVPN has crashed and they replaced it with a new one. However, we they tried to copy/import the config file and certificates to the new computer they are getting errors when trying to connect. Can we just generate a new set of certificates for them? If we do, will it affect Customer A that has site-to-site VPN? Thank you.

Hi, Customer B should be able to connect to the router with the new computer using the old .opvn file with their remote dial in username and password. If you generate a new certificate, you will need to give the .opvn file to the second OpenVPN dial-in user as well, so I wouldn't recommend doing that if you can avoid it. If you've lost the existing certificate, you can download it again from the router in VPN and Remote Access > OpenVPN > Client Config. If you're still having problems please contact DrayTek support in your country for further assistance. They may need to take a look at the config to see where it may be going wrong for you.

Export button doesn't do anything on my router! Nothing happens at all. Got latest firmware and rebooted and setup multiple times.

Check that you don't have any ad blockers or any plugins that might block things like HTML5 or javascript running on your browser. (I'm not sure if the DrayTek UI uses any of these but I often find they can be the culprits behind problems of this nature). If all else fails, try another browser with no plugins installed such as Chrome, Firefox or Edge.

@@DrayTekAustNZ Thanks for that I thought that would suirely be the issue. Unfortunately still got the problem tried multple browsers on 2 PCs. Logged a case with draytek will see what they say. Do you know what happens when the export button is pressed? I assume it wraps the certs, username and password up into the .ovpn file. Not sure if it checks anything on your pc at the time though.

@@DrayTekAustNZ Been on with Draytek support and it's a bug. They sent me a copy of 4.4.3_RC7 and I can now export. Thanks for your help. It seems it was a big in that firmware when using the LTE interface as your WAN then it wouldn't export.

@@pdjhh Thanks for that. I wasn't aware of it. Great to hear that 4.4.3_RC7 has it sorted.
