How do I use a VPN in 5g/LTE mode?
The same as with any other internet connection. If you have trouble with CGNAT (non public IP addresses) or IP addresses that keep changing, check out DrayTek's free VPN Matcher service - kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6GclZeHfM6yptI.htmlsi=Wtw3P9dRLdaVeFKb
Will DrayOS 5 be coming to current models 2865/2866/2927 or just forthcoming models (I note the photo included in the prestation shows the 2928 model for example). If it's just forthcoming models -like the 2928 - are they expected in 2024 ?
At this stage it will only be available in new models with 64-bit multicore CPU hardware. The 2136 series will be released later this year followed by the 2767 series. The 2867 & 2928 series are expected next year some time.
@@DrayTekAustNZ Thanks. Will the router's implementation of wi-fi match that on the AP's. i.e. the options on an AP903 allow you to disassociate a client from the AP whereas you can't do this at all on a (current) router. Seems odd that different features are offered across the platforms that ought to be identical.
@@IanFretwell The feature which disassociates wireless clients, DrayTek calls AP-Assisted Roaming. It basically kicks devices if their signal is too weak, forcing them to connect to an AP with a stronger signal. There are a few options here to control how it behaves - www.draytek.com/support/knowledge-base/5764 This option is really only usable in LANs with multiple APs, hence why it has more advanced options than in routers, which in most cases would be deployed without additional APs. However, routers do have RSSI options which do much the same thing, which you'll find under Wireless LAN (either 2.4 or 5GHz) >> Roaming (in DrayOS 4). See www.draytek.com/solutions/assisted-roaming/
@@DrayTekAustNZ Thanks - but that's not what I mean. When viewing the station list on the AP you can block or 'DeAuth' a client. You cannot DeAuth on a router's view of the station list for some reason. Apologies - I wrote the previous reply without checking the correct wording in the interface.
@@IanFretwell We checked a few of the APs we have around here and it seems some APs have this ability (e.g. AP1060C) but others do not (e.g. AP903), so it looks like this feature is only included in more advanced APs. That must be why they haven't included it in routers. Well, at least so far. There may be somewhat of a workaround in the User Management configuration options, although it is more complicated to set up. When will this new OS be ready for the 2962/3910/3912 routers?
These models are Linux-based with just a DrayOS-looking interface rather than actually being DrayOS, but it's possible they may receive a DrayOS 5 look and feel eventually. DrayTek have not mentioned yet if this is in the pipeline though.
The default is not working what to do now? Also after factory reset
Ensure your IPv4 TCP/IP settings are set to automatic, then open the cmd prompt as described in the video above and type ipconfig. You should see the gateway address as 192.168.1.1. If you do and still cannot access the router, then there may be a problem with the web browser so try a different one. If you do not see that gateway address then there is possibly a physical problem such as a faulty cable, or it is not properly plugged in, or possibly the router is faulty. After checking all of these, contact DrayTek Support in your country for further troubleshooting and/or a possible warranty claim.
Will DrayOS v5 be coming to the flagship 3912?
No. The 3912 has Linux-based firmware rather than DrayOS. It just has a DrayOS4 overlay, but it's possible they may give it a DrayOS 5 look and feel eventually. They haven't mentioned this being in the pipeline sat this stage though.
I just bought Draytek Vigor2865Lax-5G roter. I am currently testing various things etc, but I found that I cannot dial in to the VPN in 5G/LTE mode. I contacted Draytek support and they advised me that if I use Draytek VPN Matcher and the OpenVPN service, I can dial in to the VPN from Smart VPN Client, but I still can't do it. Router B will need a static route pointing to router A. The setting will be similar to that shown for router A at 12:20, but will point to 172.16.3.2
I changed to bridge mode now i cant access the draytek menu anymore
That's correct. You will need to be directly connected to it with your PC, then configure a static IP address. There are instructions on how to do this at the beginning of the video at kzread.info/dash/bejne/jKxpzKV7c5S3j5s.htmlsi=KcfOUAliD4b99n8K&t=17

@franknguyen6953 during the video you asked "in Draytek OS5, can you adjust the VPN connection time out to over 999 sec? From what we can see at this stage, the idle timeout can be anything from 0 (no idle timeout) to 4294967295 seconds. This works out to 136 years, so we expect it will probably change to something more sensible by the time it is released to the public.
For defense setup, there is no number of blacklist entries specified in our test unit so far but we expect this will probably change by the time the UI is finalised and made public.

What would you recommend for a 500 mbps connection? Thanks
All DrayTek routers above the Vigor167 will support a 500Mbps connection. For Ethernet WAN and most small office and home networks, the Vigor2135 series will be fine. For Business applications and larger networks, go for the 2927 series and above. If VDSL, then the 2765 series for small office and home, 2865 series for business and larger networks.
Finally! Love our drayteks we deploy but they have definitely been needing a UI lift.
Sadly, our business is moving away from Draytek because of the loud fans used in the POE switches
Thanks @txrx303, we'll pass that on to the DrayTek development team. I agree it is difficult to find quiet switches. Most high powered PoE switches will have fans to dissipate the heat, and are normally meant to be placed in a comms room or data cabinet. In environments where noise is a factor, it's generally better to go with fanless switches. However, most of these are lower end and may not have the output or capabilities needed.
@@DrayTekAustNZ yes, definitely need fans for the larger POE switches. Araknis seem to be better, and in extreme cases (where the budget isn’t huge) we’ve had to use fanless Netgear!

Hi! Hi have a vigor167..how get a annex A mode? Now Is on B..THX!
Make sure you have the latest firmware. Then go to Configuration > WAN > WAN Connections. Down the page you'll find "ADSL Setting" and there's is a pulldown menu where you can select Annex. However, we usually recommend leaving this on Auto and letting the modem decide the best option for you. If you change it to A, it may be worth running a few speed tests to ensure it is actually better.

hi can you do ONU300G too?
This is a DrayTek KZread channel. For other products you will need to consult with the relevant manufacturer.
when i am switching to bridge i don't have the same ip anymore
That is correct. The modem will no longer have a WAN IP address. The router connected to it will have that, and it may be different if your ISP allocates IP addresses dynamically.
In 2024, do you think Draytek are keeping up with the other manufacturers?
Yes, but DrayTek are usually tentative to embrace new technologies until they are proven to be reliable and backwards compatible with older technologies, so they're usually not the first to release new technologies. In 2024, there is a new OS being rolled out with 64-bit architecture, as well as new 5G products in the pipeline.

Hi.... What does "nfjrom" mean in D-Link DWR routers? Is it a bin file? I'm using Wireshark to see the recovery file it's requesting but I saw this message: "Read Request, File: nfjrom, Transfer type: octet".
how to reset VPN tunnel password - if forgotten........
For LAN to LAN tunnels, the system administrator just needs to log into the routers and change it. For dial-in VPNs, the same process applies. The remote user needs to contact the system administrator who will then change it on the router and let them know the new password. The remote user then needs to update it in their VPN client.
Do all devices of draytek support this feature?
All except for the Vigor167. You can check out the applicable license types towards the bottom of the page at www.draytek.com.au/products/network-management-tools/url-reputation/

Excellent Video. Much more helpful than the standard Draytek VLAN documents.
Hello. Can i change the native (untagged) VLAN from 0 to say 598? And how? Thank you.
Short answer - no. But those numbers in the first column are just to put the VLANs into an order to make them easier to configure in the router. They don't mean anything to the LAN clients. A VLAN tag can be any number you like though.
@@DrayTekAustNZ How can i change the untagged VLAN to one i want to?
In Linux-based routers like the 3900 and 2960, you can name the VLAN profiles however you like. In DrayOS routers it can't be changed but it doesn't need to be. It doesn't have any meaning other than to identify the VLAN profiles in the router configuration. See www.draytek.com/support/knowledge-base/4911

Nice video, thank you ! One question: why there are two settings for "Wan connection detection" ? one in general setup and the other in "Intenet access". How they interact ?
The setting under WAN >> General setup is for "Link Condition Detection". This is used to monitor latency, jitter and packet loss, which is used by ACS 3 for SD-WAN mode. It's also used for Failover settings when certain conditions are met. When the upload traffic, download traffic, latency, jitter and/or packet loss of active WAN reaches the traffic threshold, the backup WAN will be enabled automatically to share the overloaded data traffic. The setting in WAN >> Internet access is used for loss of Internet connectivity to trigger failover.
@@DrayTekAustNZ Thank you for reply. So, for better understanding, if i want only to use failover based on loss of connection, and change (for example) from wan1 to wan2 , i need to configure only "Internet Access" section ? If yes, how I need to configure "General Setup" ? Disabled ?
