Weaving patterned bands from Mora, Sweden

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

durhamweaver64.blogspot.co.uk/ There is a page showing the pattern draft and threading in detail.
This video shows how to weave narrow bands which have three background threads in between each pattern thread. This type of weave structure is common in the Dalarnas region in Sweden. The book, Moraband, has 100 patterns for this type of band.
This video shows how to weave these bands using a rigid heddle and backstrap or an inkle loom. It was made as part of an online workshop run by the Braid Society discussion group, Braids and Bands. uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/brai...
Notes for the video are available in the files section of the discussion group.

I love your videos ! I am going to take your upcoming online class. I still need to order a heddle. I htink I'd like to get a bigger one that will give me options for the future., but confused which heddle to order. Maybe perhaps one day will have them all. Which would give me the most options for now? Thank you for sharing so much! It is really generous of you !

The online workshop about band weaving is on the Braids and bands Yahoo site and anyone can join in. The equipment list suggests that you could use a standard heddle, an inkle loom OR a 13 pattern slot Sunna heddle from Stoorstalka. If you are just starting out, you need to decide what will be most comfortable and flexible for you. The standard and Sunna heddle are used with a backstrap and this may not suit everyone. Sorry for not replying sooner.

Hello Jason I will consider doing a video from the beginning of the process. I can see how this would help. It will probably be next year. Susan

@@durhamsilkweaver hello, I see that after min 07:02 in your video you removed the plastic clip. Will you attach it again later or it can stay all the time you weave?

Tony Daniel Hi I am not sure. Try Glimakra looms in Sweden. Not many people weave on that type of loom nowadays. Happy weaving Susan

The Glimakra band loom has two options for setup. One with two dowels (similar to an Inkle loom and the Mora band loom) and another with two shafts. Mora bands can be woven with either setup.
