Weather Channel's Jim Cantore hit by tree branch during Hurricane Ian coverage

Hurricane Ian's strong winds and storm surge is dangerous for millions of residents across Florida's west coast and for those covering the monster storm. The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore learned that first-hand covering the storm in Punta Gorda when he was hit by a branch.

Stupid does, Stupid gets. Just a matter of time and one of these meteorologists is going to get seriously hurt or taken out altogether. Brilliant. Not impressed by their media sensationalism, and I'm sure it doesn't impress the hurricane victims. And they can stop asking hurricane victims how they feel, now that they've lost everything. WTF

Repent and trust in Jesus. Hes the only way. We deserve Hell because weve sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him. John 3:16 Romans 3:23❤😊❤❤

It is ridiculous to have reporters standing outside reporting on these storms then telling others not to go out because it is too dangerous. People don't believe it is dangerous because the reporters are outside. They lose credibility. Please stay inside and report from there..

People believe what they see (a man standing outside during Hurricaine Ian) more than what they hear (journalist), so therefore, he's trying to get the "best footage" for upper management and broadcast at his affiliate TV station. I don't agree with it, too dangerous and risky, but that keeps ratings up.

It could've been a 2 by 4 or a piece of tin. I can't understand what he's trying to prove by standing in hurricane strength winds. They warn people on how dangerous it is to be in it and here he is standing in the middle of the road during a HURRICANE!!!

I agree. What would make people stay inside away from this weather when they see the weather people out in this weather? They would be saying it must not be that dangerous, he is out in it. They need to be setting an example of how dangerous it is, instead they are setting the example of, I don't have to listen to authorities of how dangerous it is, if this guy don't.

I can only imagine the aftermath of a large piece of sheet metal, a large wood projectile, or street sign flying along and impaling someone. Just pray that if it did happen these live performances would stop and tell people to stay indoors away from the danger.

With all the satellites and google images, who can zoom in on a woman’s nose hair while sitting on her porch, to put up on a home’s street view, it seems archaic and odd that the weather man needs to wade in the hurricane to tell us it’s bad. It’s nothing less than asinine to send reporters into hurricane zones just to report on what the conditions are. The only people that need to know what is going on are the people that live in the affected areas. Those of us that do not live in those areas have no need to know anything until after the storm passes. It’s stupid to put these reporters and their crew’s lives in jeopardy but more importantly it’s asinine to place first responders in extra danger in the case the reporters need assistance and taking those valuable resources away from the people that live there and need them more. We as a nation need to get over our so-called right to know. We don’t need to know things like this until it’s safe.
