@@Djuntaswould like to see a proper marketing study on this. I reckon one superstar doing something incredible reaches far more people worldwide and is more profitable than a bunch of cycling fans, already watching or following cycling, switching off because they’re bored by his dominance. When Federer was winning almost everything, tennis revenues and prize money rose significantly. Would be a surprise if it was the opposite here.

@@jooohan I hope so because the sport needs the money, but I know Im not watching, and I hear its the same in other sports where they also get bored. You mentioned Tennis. @@Djuntasmost people who generate revenue are not long term fans. Cycling has worldwide attention only few times a year. TDF hands down and maybe something like Roubaix, although way less exposure. So someone like Pog doing something otherworldly spectacular at less watched race (which makes for brilliant, clickable and watchable short content on social media - which means more exposure ) is pure gold for cycling. “Uninitiated” people (people who don’t necessarily follow sport or cycling) love listening to great stories and Tadej is providing that in spades here with panache and a (very marketable) smile on his face. Sorry for being so marketing oriented. Not something I enjoy, really.

Pogi Gifted Pelizzari his sunglasses and race jersey after the stage. He cannot gift the stage win, but it showed that he respected his fellow professional rider and the incredible effort he made today.... But now he is spoiling for everyone; fellow riders, fans, media, TV, sponsors etc. A breakway is an integral part of road racing. It serves several critical purposes. And in grand tours, it is imperative to let breakaways be successful whenever there is nothing fight for in the GC contest. That young man winning could have earned him a big contract with a big world tour team. A Nairo win on Sunday could redeem his career. But pogacar doesn't care. He has to crush everyone. Hubris!!

No nothing suss. Certainly not today. If you want suss, try last stage or, for instance, Strade Bianche 2024. Pogacar said he will attack 80K from finish line before the race started, attacked roughly around 80K from finish line and soloed to victory. So, no. In grand scheme of things, today is not suss at all. The race is only as entertaining as good are your greatest rivals. Pog doesn’t have a rival here but that was obvious before the race started.

In his whole LA had two legit wins - worlds and FW other than his 7 doped tdf wins. This guy will have three grand tours, 6 monuments and several other big wins at 25 before LA had a single TDF. Give him a little credit. If you can beat MVDP and WVA at Flanders and win the TDF in the modern era it makes you a one of a kind rider
