Perfect! Thanks a million. Can’t believe I didn’t think about making a selection group for both of the hands to do a 2 hand grip. Such an elegant solution.

Hi! I am trying to edit the rig of the UE4 Mannequin template that the cascadeur provided. I add a weapon mesh to the ik_hand_gun joint and want to follow your harder way to create a rigid body for the weapon, but I found that no matter how I do I cannot make the weapon to be attached to the hand or make the parenting relationship between the hand and the weapon. I guess it's because the rig of Mannequin was finalized and is no longer the "Proto Union Object" type so that parenting will fail. I tried to manually parent all point controllers, box controllers, and rigid bodies to the hand (so that the only thing was not parented is the joint since I am using ik_hand_gun), and it works in point mode but not in other modes... I and not sure that if the best way for me to do that is to re-rig the mannequin with the weapon together? But it seems that the quick rig tool for the mannequin has different rigging results for the template they created so I guess they did some manual optimization for the rigid body. Don't know if there's a way to edit the rig already created.

Hi! As far as I know currently there is no way to edit a rig after it has been finalized, but in their trello board they plan to implement it with the next update, which will probably come this year. I would have tried the same method that you described, I am not sure why it is not working. Probably the best option would be to manually rerig the model as you said.

I like to reuse the UE4 Manny skeleton as well with Cascadeur. But I am not able to achieve it, sadly I am always getting the following error message: "Several options for main direction available. Please select a single joint among children, to specify main direction". Did you guys found a solution?

Hello Aron, may I know how to rig the bones for the weapon? I tried in blender, but I get Transform + joint + joint, etc kind of bones. But in your rig, I see only joints, not transforms. Please help

Hi Did you weightpaint the weapon to the joints? I also have first the Transform object and the joints are the children (you can see it at 0:02 for example). In my case the complete weapoin is assigned with weight set to 1 to the first bone of the weapon. You can check out the blend file on my google drive, that is linked in the description, maybe that helps.

Awesome to meet people like you :) its working now..!!! currently, my left hand is attached with the weapon, so if I move left hand, the weapons moves along. but for 2 handed weapon rig, how can we attach the weapon to both the hands??

Thank you for the kind words I'm glad that helped) For two handed weapons I think there is no easy way. If you always select both arms you can move them together, but I know it's not the same. I think it is possible to do it with the node editor. On the official cascadeur channel there were 2 live streams recently and in the first one there is a similar situation explained. But it seems a bit congfusing to me.

Hope this is an easy question to answer, But: What would be the best way to rig a weapon with flashy movement. For example lets say its a Lightsaber. You know how a character may spin a lightsaber and pass it to another hand behind their back or over their shoulder? I want to animate the Lightsaber tossed in the air behind the back and do a spin or two then the other hand catches it and swings the weapon. From watching this video I am worried that rigging the weapon to a hand or bone that when the original hand that held the lightsaber moves, it pulls the Lightsaber with it DESPITE not being weilded by that hand. I guess another example for understanding my issue is: Imagine throwing a dagger from the LEFT HAND to the RIGHT HAND. Then the RIGHT HAND that now has the dagger throws the dagger.... In This situation what would the proper method be for rigging/animating the dagger ?

This doesn't work if anyone is coming here trying to learn. I spent 2 days, multiple rigging attempts, no success. There seems to be an issue when creating the box controller. It created a plane instead of a "box". Import sword with 3 bones, 2 on hilt, 1 at tip for a 2hander. I even added weapon bones in each palm of the character. Select weapon bone in hand, shift selected the weapon tip, create rig element, and it creates the blue bubble no problem, but you can't resize it to fit the sword, and when you complete the remaining steps, COM, etc. and finalize the rig.... The sword is just floating in the air... Cascadeur needs to overhaul their tutorials if they want people to move over to their solution instead of using something else. Additionally my sword was properly weight painted and exported as fbx
