I see. I was actually following Nico Remodel. Its purpose is basically the same as this and Nomad even commented on it saying that he will support it. However when I last asked, the project came to a hault and I dont know what happened after that. I am truly happy that we will be able to fight the unused colossi and I am looking foward to play this game.

Do you know about praey for the gods? is basically a game with the same climbing mechanics as shadow of the Colossus with elements of breaf of the wild, the game is already at a great stage in development it is already possible to face 5 of these monsters (they want 8 in total), there is a trailer on the official Playstation channel, I think for those who are passionate about shadow, it's a good idea to see the same mechanics in a different light. I think this game is worth a video, it is not a copy, it is more of a remagination, you can play It on steam already. Sorry for my bad english.

You're certainly missing out. It's such a simple concept and it's not a particularly long game but the replay value is extraordinary. I've played through like 10 times.

If we can fight Spider, Monkey, Roc, Phoenix, and Devil alone, I'd die. Have you seen Monkey's actual size?? He's HUGE!

I'm glad that there is interest in our fan project! I originally joined BtFl in its very infancy with my janky old Dam extension model, and in retrospect I can't believe the amount of progress that has been made! My hope is that I will soon be able to come out with some better quality models; currently I am at work remaking the Spider and Devil's lairs, both of which I was no longer satisfied with my older ones (in time I plan on also remaking other Colossi arenas!). Using a new technique my current work is much more of a match with Team Ico's "style" of modeling; so once I am finished it should hopefully be a close approximation of how these areas once looked! I am also tweaking Sirius' base model in preparation for texturing and animation rigging, so with any luck it will soon be functional! There is a lot of work ahead of us, but with the support of the wonderful SotC community behind us I'm absolutely confidant we will be able to make it a reality! (In addition there have been numerous new beta discoveries that have been made while probing SotC's inner code - just something you all might be interested in too!) When you mentioned that you dreamt about new colossi, I couldn’t help but mention a colossi I dreamt about myself. Imagine a deep, long valley, with a temple door at the Corrie similar to that of the quadratus door. And when you step on a platform like the one at the phalanx fight, a massive alligator colossus crashes through the door. The alligator proceeds to chase you through the valley at a high pace, and you need to use Agro to outpace it. When it gets close it tries to snap it jaws at you, dealing massive damage and knocking you off Agro. I’m currently thinking of a way to damage it but currently it’s just fun too put the idea out there.

@@felays3171 alligators snouts are sensitive, perhaps shooting an arrow at its nose, which will slow it down giving you more chance to run.. because a big ass alligator colossi in my mind would be fast as hell... shoot arrows at it’s snout and after 3 successful shots(as 3 is a very sacred number in games) you make enough distance to get to a group of rocks allowing you to jump up and hide.. alligator investigates and within the rock maze, maybe there’s bridges in a circle pattern with holes you can poke out, maybe shoot certain things in the environment to get his attention in case you don’t have the whistling arrows.... you get his attention and when he’s in the right spot you jump on his back, I imagine him to be long, so a Sigil lower back, one on his upper back .. wiggles you off.. do the sequence again in hiding and navigating the maze above.. when you finally take care of the upper back Sigil he will flail around knowing himself out which will give you a chance to jump off and run around to get his final sigil which will be his snout.. if you plant it perfectly you could finish him off

Shoot the nose, causing it to dip, then jump on its head from a small window and climb to the tail for the weak point as it climbs along the valleys, jumping and so on with you holding on

@@807D14M0ND5 Hahah maybe throw Death Stranding in there also, I loved the whole idea behind the game. There are a handful, I’ll just end up naming too many. Outlast for horror, maybe because it forced you into flight taking away the option of fight, it also gave me my biggest startle, after courtyard going into female ward the Walrider pops up, it startled me into an 8 minute body high, my hands and feet went cold, I was so impressed that a game did that to me. There I go, I better shut up now while I’m ahead.

@@weavatronobservatory haha don't worry about saying too much. I usually ask this question because for me it's also near impossible to pick a top 3! Somehow I've managed to avoid BioShock for all these years. I really need to pick up that collection. For now I would say MGS2 Hollow knight Donkey Kong country 2 But then I think of SC Chaos Theory, SOTC, Metroid games, Dark Souls...and I'm not sure again.

Shadow of the colossus is one my favourite games of all time. The fact that these are working hard on this warms my heart

13 year old me would absolutely scream at the thought of playing the beta colossi. This project is so amazing.

I really, REALLY hope this doesn't get shut down. I'd LOVE TO get my hands on this.

If it hasn't happened by now, I wouldn't worry. Legally SONY might have to be paid some type of royalty, but if they were to shut this down, it wouldn't sit well with all the fans anxiously awaiting it's completion. If anything SONY knows this project would be good publicity for a Director's Cut of the PS4 remake, assuming such a thing is in the works. Hopefully it is & hopefully SONY supports "Beyond The Forbidden Lands" too.

Those beta colossi might just get two releases. Now that SONY has "Death Stranding" & "Ghost Of Tsushima" with a director's cut, it seems very likely that "Shadow Of The Colossus" could be on the roster for a director's cut too. And we would most certainly get those missing colossi if that were to happen. In the meantime things are moving along with "Beyond The Forbidden Lands" & we're all excited for the completion of this project.

I always come back to this video every so often, praying that this will genuinely come to fruition and not be another false hope. Shadow of the Colossus has been my favorite game of all time for over five years now, which is about 1/4 of my entire life lmfao, and I could die happy someday if this became a real thing!

Iirc, ocelot was pretending to be a SotC dev to make sure Beyond went his way. When he was outed, he stepped back but was still causing issues. When he was booted from the project, he retaliated by leaking previously unseen behind the scenes stuff an actual SotC dev shared to help the project under the promise that said images would remain private, as they were not supposed to be sharing them publicly. He also went and made another project called Beyond the Forbidden Lands Classic to basically make his own version, and threw a fit when the remaining devs politely asked him to change the name to avoid confusion

Oh my god I never knew how much I wanted this until I just now learned of it's existence! This will be amazing!

This is just awesome. I've been watching Nomad for a long time - always curious about the cut colossi and remember when he first uploaded footage of the beta dam, i was fascinated. I've always been most curious about the Phoenix, Worm and Monkey - and wandered how such immense opponents would function and fight.

I have been a fan sense I was 13 years old. This is too my favorite game. I still replay it once in a while. I’m excited to see this fan made beta complete and give it a go! Thank you for this!

You dont know how much this brings a tear to my eye. SOTC has been hands down my favorite game ever, and I hope I can support anyway I canto make this come true. I also hope not only do they add in cut content, but new colossi that they have made up! The more the merrier!

This giving me lots of nostalgia of when i was a big SoTC fan and was young Ah, miss those times, still one of the greatest games out there :) And this is fantastic, i always felt some sadness that we got these ideas of such great colossi, that never came to be, when they were intended to, and this just feels me with happiness!

Years keep passing by, and after all this time you can make a difference between the good video games, and the legendary ones. This is one of those games that, in the same way as a real art piece, excites you and moves you in your deepest emotions, and that feelings stay with you through the years, manifesting in your thoughts and dreams. I too have dreamt about meeting other colossi, two incredibly huge dragon-like flying creatures, flying above a lake near a castle with their fluorescent colours in red, purple and yellow, so huge that they covered part of the sun light and make a shadow over you, the lake and the castle, as you see them fighting one against the other with their slow yet powerful movements... That dream I had was almost like a psychedelic experience, the feeling of being just a tiny part of something so much bigger than us, in a fantastic way. And this game, makes me feel that emotions in my diurnal life. It's like playing along within my dreams. As I said in other comments, I wish all the luck to the people who are working on this project, and thank you for all the hard work you're doing. Greetings from Argentina.

This game is getting me into game development, I currently have the goal to make a gave with similar aspects as a first project. I finished the game for the first time today, the story is so basic, yet compelling, and that ending was so unexpected, I feel even more honoured that this is the game that helped me decide what I’m going to do in the near, and distant future. I know how you feel. I just recently completed my 100th play through on hard mode & still never get bored spending time in the Forbidden Lands. The game is going on 17 years old & yet new people are discovering it for the first time & new things are still being discovered in the game itself. Truly amazing.

This game is like a work of art that stand the test of time and the soundtrack? Simply one of the best ever made for a game Max keep up the good work

Thank you, sir. And I share your sentiment about the soundtrack. Though Silent Hill 2's soundtrack is my all-time favorite, Shadow of the Colossus' soundtrack is a VERY close second.

I will legitimately cry if i get to see this, i love this game more than anything, it has been my favorite game of all time since forever and will stay this way forever.

Omg I also have actual dreams where I fight the beta colossi and explore new areas in the map! I thought that was just me lol. Amazing video as always!!!

It's so interesting, right?... how numinous an effect this game has on people that it causes them to have these dreams. I've had more dreams featuring aspects of this game more than any other piece of fiction.

@@maxderrat Me too, I don't know why tho. When I was a kid, this game was the most terrifying thing of all, but I loved playing it. There wasn't any horrendous monster (aside from Dirge) but there wasn't any other person in that lands either. This game had a deep impact on me (even in the musical aspect) and I'm happy that it's still relevant today.

As I'm reading the comments, I'm seeing the number of people voicing the fact that they, too, have dreams about SOTC. I wonder what it is about this game that has such an effect on their imagination and their unconscious mind.

I'm not afraid to say I'm really new to diving deeper into the Shadow of the Colossus world, as I've become enamoured with the world and landscapes. So much so I'm getting the PS2 version as soon as I can and to see a project like this in the works is inspirational to say the least. So I can say I'm looking forward to exploring the game and the community more in future.

@@ultraspinalki11 ps2 version id take over the remake I like the original graphics more it feels better. Better technology doesn’t always mean better art I’d say the ps3 is my favourite same ps2 art style but better fps

I've wondered for so long why a topic as famous as the beta colossi has never been explored by modders, knowing how dedicated the fanbase is. I couldn't tell you how happy I was to hear of this project.

Im dying for this. Its been on my mind forever now to fight spider and worm. Worm is just HORRIFYING. Also i know they are recreating 8 but it would be so cool if they include the yeti collosi. Not a lot of people know about that one because he didnt even make it past sketches but his sketch looks so cool along with the 4 armed monkey

That's so cool! I'd like the final product to look exactly like the original game, too, instead of something that was obviously made on unit. It should be convincing. The aspect ratio, the camera shake, the color filters, the music, the everything, the everything else, and the kitchen sink. Whatever it turns out to be, I'm sure it'll be an awesome thing to experience, at some capacity or another.

Honestly, I would even say, if you could, go as far as bringing more to life. Wasn’t it like 40 something they wanted to do at first? Damn this is great news!! Made my day seeing this!!

Literally had one a week ago about finding a gap in the rock face, heading down a steep ravine, and triggering an undiscovered cutscene for fighting a variation of the Worm Colossi. "How did Nomad miss this?!" "Cause it's a dream, silly!" ...Not for long...

This is my dream as well, I am beyond excited

The sense of community, cooperation and passion surrounding this game is just phenomenal

Being born in the early 2000’s in a place where beautiful games like this were out, I know that I never have and never will get the opportunity to play this game. However, seeing this makes me extremely happy. Can’t wait to see these dudes in action.
