    i cant promise you that i will bring you all home alive. but this i swear before you and before almighty god when we go into battle i will be the first to step foot on the field and the last to step off and i will leave no one behind. dead or alive we will all come home together. so help me god. that must be one of the best speeches i have ever heard.

    The Directing and acting in this movie is one of such a high caliber that you feel every sentiment a human being goes thru in such situation Not only on the battle field but at the family lever, the respect an values, the wife’s, suffering. As many of you so reverently have expressed so accurately… chills and tears.

    Don't sell yourself short. It's frequently those who may appear the least likely who end up oblivious to their own safety and perform the most heroic acts. It's not a conscious choice, but a reflex that makes ordinary people perform extraordinary acts of courage under the most trying conditions.

    I fought in Vietnam and we all were scared shitless but don't confuse fear which is a defensive thing and dodging the draft is a choice that cowards make.

  • @michalsoukup1021

    @michalsoukup1021

    Yeah, cowards dodge, men either go, or object. Mohammad Ali never went, but I don't see anyone of substance calling him coward, because when he realised he can not go, he rather went to prison than to either get drafted, or run (I believe he was even offered a fancy "draft" where he would work entertainment rather than carry a rifle)

    I think you missed its message the war was a waste of American lives in a country that was at civil war the US had no reason or excuse to be there other than communism. The Vietnamese on both sides believed in what they where fighting the Viet Cong Commander who picked up that flag almost represents a change in the wars depiction especially when he says "This will become an American war" Hal Moore actually met that same commander Hal never hated his enemy he had great respect for them and there was a deleted scene where Moore essentially tells the brass how the war will go it says everything about the man's Charector

    it breaks my heart. because they are all the same. Its not politics, god, the bad guy, they fight for the man next to them, the family they have. And both sides do that. For the wrong people. my dad volunteered for nam at 19, to "help". he saw shit, and i asked him "what would you do if u saw the man who shot the mortar that hit u" (i was 11.) i expected macho shit. "id buy him a coke (HE MEANT BEER BUT IM A CHILD) and tell him he did a good job, and id have no hate towards him at all." the fucking, holy shit. Heavy words. Theyre a bunch of good kids fighting for what they think is right, and the truth is it makes 0 difference, and we could probably talk it over or pay it out, at the end of the day.
