Wonderful interview! I love David's energy and his approach to life and coaching. I love that his family appears to fuel his life. He and Cael are inspirational people to me. It looks like they are building a special culture of sportsmanship and decency. You two do a great job as match commentators, by the way. Thanks for the great interview.

I'm an Iowa fan but I must say, David is my favorite wrestler. Have been watching him since he was a freshman at PSU. Love his take on wrestling and life. I'm 60 and feel like I learned a little from him watching this interview.

Fantastic interview! I've passed it along to several of my coaching friends and officiating colleagues. David's approach to his wrestling/life balance is something to aspire to. Regardless of what you do in life you need to find other outlets to maintain your sanity. Keep up the great work!

Fantastic piece of journalism. Great concept. Professionally done. And David himself masterfully walks that edge between humble human and crazed warrior. An amazing study in discipline. A truly great interview.

This is an awesome video, showcasing the greatness of David beyond all the accolades from wrestling. What a humble and great family man, with the perfect little farm to boot.

my favorite part about the school i coach at has gotta be the handshakes from kids to us coaches. even the kids ive never directly coached will come up and shake/fist bump after practice. its a huge respect thing that not only they show to the coaching staff but to eachother by holding eachother accountable as well. its the biggest difference ive seen from where i went to school vs where i coach

As an iranian wrestling fan, I can tell you this is no longer a rivalry. DT dominates Hassan. Love watching them both. And yes, the people of Iran love DT & Jordan & Kyle Snyder. Classy champions deserve respect. That's what wrestling is all about.

American dream, put in the work and its yours. Amazing family, amazing accomplishments, David you truly deserve every bit of it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on how you approach youth wrestling. I have twin 6yr old boys and 2yr old girl that help out with our tree farm. The farm is what gives them the good work ethic, so that way wrestling is where they channel that good work ethic. Congratulations on the new family addition coming, my wife is 3 months into our newest addition. Thank you for being an inspiration to so many.

David makes it look so easy. I remember seeing how hungry he was last Olympics. Shooting in on single legs with his head down and just being amazed at how easy he was finishing his takedowns against the best in the world. Dake and Stevenson are legends but hen Taylor wants that single leg, he takes that shit effortlessly, man. Love the way he ran that nearside roll against JB back in the day too. #Fan boy out

Dad said wrestlers did no lower body moves in the forties and the mats were made of horse hide you could get more injuries from the mats then your opponent

I think I know those mats. We had them in grade school into the eighties. We covered them with a tarp marked for wrestling, but also because the surface material did nothing but absorb and spit out dust.
