We Went To a Trump Rally: What We Heard Will Shock You

Donald Trump voters told us why billionaires have too much power.
We visited a Trump rally in search of an honest conversation with Donald Trump's supporters about politics and policy, and we got it.
Trump voters told us about some of key issues they want to hear discussed on the national stage, and it’s a message that people across the political spectrum can get behind.

Whose greed? Those people who belong to unions or have investments likely have retirement funds held and managed by Blackrock or Vanguard. The products we buy come from large corporations because they are better and cheaper. That’s us. Corruption is when those we vote for take money we don’t know about, then do things that benefit those who paid rather than those who voted. Until those who do that-both those elected and those directly giving the money to them for favors-are put in jail, nothing will change. Trump never did that. Biden has and still is right now.

His only tax cuts served LARGE, billion dollar companies, his regulations rollbacks served large, billion dollar companies- and we’ve seen how some of those regulations being slashed have physically harmed people and communities. Not to mention Trumps endless grift - ripping off his base daily through the use of fear mongering. It’s just weird.

I'm a Republican. I support regulated capitalism. The problem is crony capitalism. Trump supporters favor him because he's a political hand grenade in DC. The corrupt Republican leadership and corrupt Democrat leadership hate him. Why is that? It's because he tried to stop our forever wars across the world that made politicians of both parties wealthy. You probably know plenty about how various Republican politicians or their families. Do you know about how Democrat's cashed in too? James Biden made a killing in Iraq on government contracts. The same is happening again in Ukraine. Trump had a peace deal negotiated with the Taliban and Biden broke it. Trump ordered US troops out of Syria but Generals lied about troop numbers so not all were withdrawn. Trump is a jerk. I don't like him as a person. I figure if he's hated so much by the people I dislike, especially from both parties, then he's probably going to ruin their cons. Even if Trump was a con artist using his position as President for personal gain, he'd save the taxpayer money by ruining the rackets of both parties. I don't think Trump was using his position for gain. I think Jared Kushner, his son in law, definitely did. Trump is painted as some Right-wing extremist but he was a Democrat his entire life. He only changed parties after Obama.

And the ones who disagree would NEVER EVER EVER speak up PUBICLLY. If Democrats ACTUALLLY spoke up, we would NOT be in this problem AND THERE IS NO QUESTION we would be more united. i will NEVER "unite" with a human being who wants to show porn to children, tell children they can changes sexes, give children drugs to make them "feel" happy, mutilate children's genitals, and the whole "you can kill a baby even on the DAY the baby is, or is going to be, born.

Question: Did you feel that way the previous twenty years? At the time? Also... What was your personal response to the information widely available in media at the time that showed what a quagmire Iraq and the general approach to the Middle East and the issues of Islamic Terrorism? You know... All the folks that at the time said it was a bad idea and told us what the outcomes would be? What was your reaction to the slander and social abuse bandied about towards critics of Bush and the push for war in Iraq at the time? Did you notice said slander came from one side of the spectrum? Because if you didn't notice all that then when it was no less obvious than today I have to look askance at your opinions on just about everything else, considering so much of the rationale for invasion we're supposedly based upon Conservative, Evangelical, and yes despite all their claims to the contrary, even Libertarian principles. It's like, does it matter all the supposed "Centrists/Conservatives" who are against that invasion and the general execution of the "War On Terror" now? Currently that means two things... Jack and shit. Oh... And Jack left town. So... With such a spectacular, if only now admitted disaster that can and should be laid at the feet of so many of our fellow citizens who wouldn't or couldn't see the obvious lies and corruption then of Bush and Cheney but are now flogging Trump... Why should anyone listen to folks that have such egregious judgement? Cuz... Me and mine? We saw through the GOP/Bush BS from the start. The Same With Trump. It ain't both sides. It's that too many of us believe the side telling us it's both sides. And I'm not sorry I'm not one of those people.

Started under Reagan and continues to this day. Unlimited money in politics - republican pac sued to get that through and the conservative majority on SC approved it. Scalise said it only makes sense if you can see who is donating to the PACs but the new majority just ruled that it can be anonymous now. So yea, more corruption. Same problem in California. They complain about homeless people but a conservative judge is the one that ruled the state has no right to remove homeless people from public property and take their tents etc. And you see how that worked out.

Honestly, with some of the things that the far left does, I'd question whether they're American or not. Majority of the left clearly loves seeing our country fail. When Trump won in 2016, far left liberals were literally hoping that he was a failure in office, they were hoping and itching for him to do terrible. When Biden "won" in 2020, I looked at my wife and said "well, I hope he at least does a good job, and doesn't ruin the country." But, he is ruining the country. Look at the economy, or border, for example.

Once upon a time corporations had a sense of obligation to take care of the employees that were helping make the company a success - then in 1970s, MILTON FREEMAN's economic theory came up with the notion that corporations had a duty to their shareholders, not their employees - we need to reverse this trend, get back our decent paying jobs, look after our families, and GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!!!

The media are just doing the profitable legwork of dividing and conquering at the behest of the ruling class, they're willing to sell their soul for a pittance of what the real conquerors gain in keeping us shooting at each other, instead of their direction

@@soniajulie6465 Looking specifically at media corporations, they should have a duty to their viewers, to their country, to provide factual information in a journalistic (impartial) manner. If they can't or won't do that, they should be branded "entertainment" companies, not "news" services. Take their cue from Vince McMahon, who changed the branding on his wrestling company from "wrestling" to "entertainment." Sadly, it seems as if more viewers desire to be entertained with content that reinforces their preexisting beliefs than to be well-informed.

Its propaganda, I can take the most horrible people I know and talk to them like this, and edit so they seem like saints. I mean they man they are rallying for is against everything they just talked about he proved that with his actions. He was about help rich get richer, and economy is better then it was since he left office. And man wants to screw over that mcdonalds worker who is there to support him. He wants to take social security from his older supporters there as well. These people are just sad and confused...

But they are kindly and thoughtfully talking nonsense. And they are not conservatives. Conservatives are not pushing for increase in wages by organizing. They want wages to go up as a part of an improving economy. Otherwise you end up with inflation.

Loved this. And I respect the conversations being about bettering lives instead of the focus on what we all lack. The solutions will always be in these conversations where we get to know each others struggles. It can be hard for people to not be like “me me me” in conversations but your questions led to actual deeper thought about the ways this capitalistic society have screwed over the people who’ve kept it running.
