@somedrunkdude6804

It is actually remarkably easy. I travel all over the country for work, and I have made a ton of friends along the way. I've been invited into their houses, went on their boats, and went fishing and hunting with them. All because I strike up conversations at airports, bars, and restaurants. The problem is that people won't initiate the conversations, and so many people live in their own little bubble. Everyone just stares at their phones when they are out in public alone. I don't give them that opportunity (unless they insist) because I will strike up a conversation about anything. Genuinely showing interest in the other person helps also.
Called his ex-girlfriend to "calm his nerves". Oh yeah, this guy is liberal alright.
To be fair, most of the time it's just easier to meet people willing to be friends on a campus. Asking random people just going out for the night, especially middle age-older, probably won't be the best for actual friend material

I'm so happy you did this because I have never been a fan of the huge divide. No one is ever going to agree 100% on the same thing. Anyone too extreme on any side should remain open minded to change and other's perspectives. The best advice to take is if you disagree with it, take time to understand it. When someone says something i dont typcially agree with i ask them what makes them have that belief and its so helpful. My husband and I use to be more conservative growing up (me being raised in a Mormon household as well), but now we lean in the middle. We are close to people on both sides, and some who have mixed beliefs. As long as you talk respectfully to another and try to see their point of view it rly isn't bad. The problem with the divide is people not wanting to interact with those who have different opinions, and that in itself won't help anyone. Those who surround themselves with people alike end up being the quickest to judge others; and Helen was the perfect example for that.

There are certain beliefs and concerns that are at least somewhat understandable. However, the problem is when their beliefs are factually wrong or are claims that have little to no evidence (ie conspiracy theories). Tolerating such beliefs will just lead to the continuing of misinformation to run rampant.
@anyadarlingg

@@sti454 yeah I understand that. I personally am not a religious person anymore, and that's due to what they subconsciously teach people to do (like blindly follow someone without question and to fear eternal punishment for going against them). So I hate when people force religion onto the country or have that as a reason to go against other things.

@@itsnatemate7697 that’s where respect comes in, nothing is truly “messed up” on either side (yet there are people who say messed up things and use political themes to justify it) There’s always a reason behind the belief, and sometimes people can’t respect that reason. That’s their own problem. The issue with politics is there’s too much grey area for there to be only 2 sides, which is why EVERYONE must stay open minded. We’re a community, not two sides at war.
