“Pretop” is liquid that remain from “pig on a spit” style of roasted pork, actually complete pig on a spit. That is extremely delicious and it’s a real specialty of that part of Serbia. You two are really nice and I wish you all the best in you life :)

@@dabbleandtravel The "bund" is called - somun (pron:-somoon) , it is flat bread made with no yeast, Greek stuff. A "lid' is simply a top of somun, you cut it off so you could spread mix of kajmak (not cheese) and eggs. Then you put it in wood-fired oven, for short time, so eggs coagulate and kajmak melts... When done, pour over (lamb) gravy...and put back the lid, since it is fatty, strong meal, so you need all the bread :~) Place you've visited makes it very good, best probably! Užice is very proud of Komplet lepinja! Best world's kajmak is from this area, and the key of super-fine taste of Komplet lepinja is in all the fresh ingredients that originate from there!

@@dabbleandtravel I noticed you avoid yoghurt when eating burek. You make a mistake, trust me. It wouldn't fill you more, on the contrary, it would make the burek or komplet-lepinja digest smoothly. Yoghurt has special mix of bacteria cultures which help your stomach very much with "thick" food such as burek. My example: I'm 45 now, in my early 20-ies I lived in student dormitory, and ate their food (which is good and rich, but you get yoghurt only for breakfast, and I avoided breakfast). I developed a big problem with heartburn and acid reflux, almost every meal would cause me trouble. Then I took advice and started drinking yoghurt regularly, and only a cup of 200-250ml a day, and the problem was solved in no time!!! Yes, I get the reflux now and then even now, but it is not even 1% of the problem I had then.

4:32 That is exactly what you do. When you run out of ''the lid'' you can use the side crust if needed. But that is quite a local 'way' to do it, a secret almost, so I am blown away by the girls' ''talent''. Uzice people LOVE teaching others (other Serbs in particular) how to properly eat komplet lepinja (with a bit of teasing in the process), since non Uzice people usually do the 'sandwich' thing by default.

Listen to her! DO NOT EAT IT LIKE A SANDWICH! Every time you eat it like sandwich one Uzicanin dies :) You use the lid to dip it in, when you eat the whole lid you start breaking the side of lepinja (bread part) and repeat the dip. After you ate the whole liquidish part you can continue eating it like in 7:09. And because it is so strong and salty you need to drink yogurt to round the taste and bring down the saltiness.

This bread type is called ‘somun’ . We use it for our traditional fast foods. It soaks up juices really well. The milk thing is kajmak. I don’t think they do milk on komplet lepinja but I might be mistaken. What I love to do is get some good Cevapi in a somun with kajmak then you let the whole thing sit for 10-15 mins so the somun geta soggy from the cevapi and kajmak and basically that is the best part :-).

Try visiting east Serbia as well. The only word from Serbian language to enter other languages is: vampir (the vampire). Bram Stoker had put his story in Transylvania, which is just the other side of Danube river from east Serbia. He did it, because count Vlad Dracul (son o the dragon, his father was a knight of the order of Dragon) was a historical figure from Romania. However, vampires are not part of Romanian folklore, and some of them get a bit annoyed by all of that. Vampire stories originate in eastern Serbia in general: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petar_Blagojević

@@anica935 Yep, but Petar Blagojević was a first case of "vampirism" documented by authorities (Austo-Hungarian empire). Sava Savanović was a character from Serbian folklore. However, the story of Sava Savanović is apparently later than the case of Petar Blagojević who died in 1725.

@TURKISH POWER Since when do Turks eat pork? Because this bun(lepinja) is with pork fat. You stole this bread from Bosnians, Serbs and Greeks. As soon as you step into the Balkans, you hide and eat pork, so much about you and respect for your faith.

I'm so glad that you tried it, there is nothing better for a hangover than komplet lepinja. :D ...btw, it is not cheese and milk that is inside. It is kajmak (Serbian version of it) :) I would like to give you a couple of suggestions about what o visit when you are already in that part of Serbia. (I do not know is everything open during this Corona situation, but you can try.) Stopica cave - www.serbia.travel/en/experience-serbia/nature/caves/stopica-cave Potpecka cave - www.serbia.travel/en/experience-serbia/nature/caves/potpecka-cave National museum in Uzice - nmuzice.org.rs/ KAdinjaca - www.spomenikdatabase.org/kadinjaca I'm not sure how long are you staying, but there are few "hidden gems" in that area that can be experienced only during the summertime.
