⭐ About Travel Beans:
Hello and welcome to our channel! We are Alex & Emma, a British couple who have been exploring the world together for over 10 years - from backpacking to vanlife:
2012/13: We both embarked on our own solo backpacking trips through Southeast Asia, where we would eventually meet at a hostel in the mountains of Thailand and begin traveling together. After a year and a half of backpacking around Southeast Asia & Australia, we returned home and to the corporate world!
2015: Travel Beans was born and we filmed our first videos on a road trip around Europe with friends! This was our biggest trip yet.. and you can go back and watch the entire adventure because we filmed ALL of it! This trip took us through Russia, Mongolia & China, on the longest railway journey in the world. Followed by highlights such as staying on a local island in the Maldives for a month, going on safari in Sri Lanka, couchsurfing & hitchhiking in Korea, seeing the snow monkeys in Japan, island hopping in the Philippines, trekking 60km through the centre of Myanmar, exploring the Indian Himalayas, and checking out some of the incredible US National Parks.
2016: Despite an unbelievably memorable year and a half of travels, which we were incredibly grateful to have had the privilege to experience.. we found ourselves in New York City, battling depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on.
2017: After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle. We left the UK with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a continuous travel lifestyle happen! We both got online English teaching jobs to be able to fund our travels and to keep creating videos. We can't quite believe that our younger selves decided to take this plunge but we are so grateful they did as we are still on this journey today!
What now?
Over the years, we've discovered that we LOVE road trips and even decided to renovate our very own little VWT4 van into a campervan to be able to enjoy vanlife and spend more time on the road. We are now the proud owners of 2 awesome little campers - one based in the UK and one that we keep in the USA. You'll often find us using one of these vans to explore Europe and North America. If you enjoy this kind of content we'd recommend checking out our Italy Road Trip series, USA vanlife series and our Japan in a Tiny Van series as well as our UK vanlife content.
Our time spent overcoming depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. We love sharing the highs and lows of our trips through our videos and hope to spread a little positivity and light to all of the beautiful people who take the time to tune in and watch each week!

My husband's clans (Murphy, O'Reilly, O'Regan, Sullivan, etc) came from mostly County Cork. Those that emigrated boarded ships from where you stood. We went over for a visit from New Hampshire in 2010, and found it quite emotional. We also found the Irish to be extremely welcoming and helpful. We broke down in a remote area one afternoon, in pouring rain. A retired couple came upon us, and brought us into their home. We were served tea, offered food, and helped us get a service vehicle. It was one of the best memories of our trip.

My Grandmother was the first born American Irish-American in her family who's parents immigrated from Ireland to the USA. She was always most proud of her Irish roots. She tried to teach me, as a younger-self, to dance the native Irish Dance but I was a bit of a wayward student and never took to its complex footwork. She, on the other hand, danced it beautifully. I am the 4th Generation of direct family women to wear the family's Ring 💍 as her mother, herself, her daughter and now me wearing it. Those slow moments of one's life is the bedrock of the Ireland her family loved and always held close to their hearts. You both are no doubt seeing that firsthand in your Ireland travels.

I want you to know that you two had me in hysterics in the beginning and I was laughing right with the two of you. I live alone in an apartment and I am sure my neighbors think I have lost my mind in her laughing all alone. If I get told of my uncontrollable laughing you two are to blame. All the talk about the 70's and the smells had me rolling. Love where you are parked and how beautiful it is in the little town..Thanks for the laughs. I needed them.

Loved this one… maybe as a throwback to a past where the four of us explored the world and did family things without fully appreciating how sacred that time was. Kids are now in their thirties, divorce upended a 35-year relationship in 2019, and this month marks the first anniversary of my ex’s passing. By its very nature, life shows us joys and sadness, whenever it damn well pleases. You Beans consistently show love in action. You both make YT infinitely more engrossing than scripted TV.

Boy oh boy do I have the low down for you! My wife & friends spent 10 days drving around the ENTIRE COUNTRY! 1. The big Titanic museum (in Belfast) is nice and all but we preferred the much smaller one in (Cork). This was the last stop of the Titanic before it sunk. 2. DO NOT go to the Blarney castle (locals pee on it) Instead go to Birr Castle. AMAZING grounds with a CHILDRENS play area! Plus you can tour the castle and they have secret passeges. 3. Cliffs of Moher. This is a MUST for any visit to Ireland. However, DO NOT take the tourist route $10 each. You want "The Burren Way" also known as the Clifss of Moher Coastal Walking Trail. This walking trail "Free" a small donation is suggested and you get way better views w/out all the tourists. (Great for filming). Anywho, I could tell you 10 more things. Love the channel. Thanks for the great content.

It is lovely to see you with more space for this adventure. Noah definitely needs more space now that he is crawling and getting more mobile every day. I found this stage was the hardest to travel with my son. Once he was up and running it was so much easier in many ways. I do hope you contacted the company you are renting from and that they arrange to have that cupboard cleaned and ready for you to continue your Irish adventures.

Like you, we feel like the Irish people are so incredibly friendly. We actually think that's our favorite thing about Ireland, and well then, let's add all of the beautiful countryside, towns & the GREEN! Stunning! We have based ourselves in the Killarney National Park area both times, there is so much to do there. We have been to Dingle, the Cliffs of Moher, Belfast, Causeway, Dublin, Kilkenny, KInsale...all lovely. I think you might really love the Wicklow Mountain area as well. Wherever you choose, you will be met with Irish Hospitality! Enjoy. - Coreen

Lots of the post boxes you can see on our island were installed in the late 1800s they used to be red back then as they were installed by the British, once Ireland became independent they were painted green to match the colours of an post (pronounced on pust) meaning post office in Gaelic. cá bhfuil oifig an phoist (pronounced kaw will offig an fisht) (where is the post office) ;) P.S. hopefully this will cover your parking for the night!

We toured the West Coast of Ireland in our camper van in May this year. Three weeks of sun unbelievable!! We started in Kinsale beautiful plus start of WAW. The coastline is stunning, the friendliest people you will ever meet. So many wonderful places to visit, Doolin great, near cliffs of Moher, Achill Island, a drive through the gap of Dunloe, Healy Pass, so many astounding places to see. The Dursey Island cable car wasn't open when we visited but I believe is open now looks great. You need to get yourselves a blanket to hang over the front window!!

Thanks Emma for showing me that we can think differently but still be on the same track. For Alex it was a no brainer to get a bigger van but you needed to see it to come to the same conclusion. Two different ways of living life in your heart and mind, two different ways of processing experience into the moment at hand, two different ways of applying logic to circumstance two different ways of seeing the world at present but always coming to the same unity of conclusion. Your love and respect for one another is what makes it all possible. Thank you both.

We used to have a 26 foot camper that was supposed to sleep 6. I can only say that after a week, you'd kill at least 4 of the people just to get elbow room. The camper was a "C" class van on a Ford chasis. It got about 9 miles to the gallon providing you didn't climb any mountains. Also getting the van to be balanced when parked was a challenge. Hang a sheet across the front for privacy. You've got a curtain rod across the front, but no curtain. I was in Cobh in July. I thought the Titanic museum was good. The park was lovely, but it was considerably warmer than you're experiencing. It was a lovely little town. Cool trip so far. If you go west, definitely go toward Bantry and Glengariff. Beautiful country.

Doesn't the toilet flush from the button below it on the right?, A spare sheet will act as a curtain for the front can and you can wash the mould off the saucepan with some boiling hot water and some detergent. Very surprised you didn't check the van over before you drive it off knowing you have previous cargo on board. Campervibe are in Ireland at the moment and found some great park ups in the last 3/4 weeks if you're looking for some cool places to visit.

Loved this latest video. Great to see little man starting to come out of himself more too. You should all go to visit Westport House in County Mayo. It is the family home of a real life female Pirate Queen - I’ve been there myself and it’s an amazing place, fantastic house and estate grounds - even has the burnt singed flags from her wooden galleon battleships hanging at the incredibly beautiful staircase as you walk up them. She was not a woman to mess with and she even raided the English parliament houses back in her time.

Before you even mentioned the camper, I was imagining how it would have smelt! You were both very, very brave!! I worked in a touring theatre company, and in the summer of 1989 we did a tour of Southern Ireland and a few days in Northern Ireland. The south coast is wonderful, Cork is a great city, but beyond, the coast as I recall was stunning. We also went north to County Leitrim which is more like Scotland. We has a large converted ambulance that slept six of us, although we stayed in B&B's during the week, only using the tour bus at the weekend. It was a six week tour and still remains a great memory. We did have the bus broken into in Dublin though which was a real pain. South West is the place to go though, although I am not sure what it will be like this time of year!!

Met some Irish students whilst at university, and was invited over. Had a couple of nights in Dublin, Kilmore, Cork and some smaller towns, travelled by bus, back of a van etc.... The place is beautiful, the people are so friendly and up for a giggle. The smaller towns were great, there was a closing time Bell, the front door got locked the curtains closed, then the honesty bar opened, everyone was trusted, and everyone respected it enough to pay too. Magical times.

I lived and worked in Ireland for a year in County Kerry 🙂 I can highly recommend travelling around the ring of Kerry and also round the Dingle peninsula. Then up the coast to Galway.. you won’t be disappointed!

I would just wash the heck out of the utensils. I am allergic to mould. That should get rid of the smell also. Throw some pillows in the front glass so noone can see you. Love the camper. It looks amazing. Irealand is beautiful. Incredible, friendly people. I love every inch of Ireland. Great video.

I LOVE IT!! Especially having a baby, more room and convenience is necessary!! But yall definitely should have checked it out better before going with it! Mold is BAD to breathe, especially for Noah’s little lungs. Maybe Keep it and make it your own by updating it!!

We are and Irish couple and have toured most of the country in our van. Vanlife in west Cork and Kerry is the top pick by a country mile for us. Killarney national park, inch beach and Dingle are all must see's. Connemara is jaw dropping too. I'm sure jits have given plenty of insights too 😊 We shipped our van to Canada and living here now! Maybe you'll head north next time you're stateside and meet us 😅

    ### BLOCK OUT FRONT WINDOW### All you do is hang a heavier blanket down from the buck bed, that will stop the people from seeing in... I totally agree about no cloths on at night time in my camper. It's that time of night to be totally FREE!!!! LOL!!!! I love you kids...

I used to live in Co. Galway during the 90's. The bulk of the Irish people are extremely welcoming and very naturally kindly people. I was lucky enough to have travelled along the Connemara coastline of Eire and believe or not; got my open water divers certificate there! Your little motorhome looks superb size wise, (we have a 6m Peugeot) and actually, once you have made some improvements, and gotten used to some of the quirks; You'll will unquestionably bond with it.

You guys are the best family and I can see how much love you all have for each other. And yah I agree with you guys about a bigger camper or Van just because of space the bigger little man gets the more room he is going to need to move around. I can just see him when your not on the road crawling everywhere so I do think you're going to need something bigger. Where you were camping at looked really calm and relaxing minus the people walking in front of you. You could probably find a way to cover the window at night for privacy I don't think I would like that part even though the view is nice.. but anyway I loved the video and just seeing how big and active Noah is getting is great you guys are great parents. But I will see you in the next video stay safe, safe travels and love and prayers always from the USA.
