I just left Prime a couple of weeks ago and took my truck to J.B. Hunt. My FM begged me to train PSD this past fall and I did, against my better judgment. I lost my ass financially during this time due to having to spend so much time at the terminal. Mind you, I trained TNT for a few years until October 2022 due to the market drop. I always did favors for my FM. What I finally figured out is that we are all truck numbers. Prime doesn’t give a shit about their drivers. With that said, I get it. They have a business to run but so do I. I’m running 3 loads a week for J.B. Hunt and home on the weekends off their load board while making 5k (to the truck)for the week. I used to love Prime but something has happened the past year or so and it has gotten worse. Hence, I took myself out of that situation and left. No hard feelings towards them but Prime definitely has a lot of things they need to fix.

Im home every weekend and thru out the week most weeks. I miss the nice new equipment at prime but i love the life i have acquired for myself after leaving them. I have more money and more family time. I will say I work harder now as a flatbed driver where as at prime I ran reefer but the extra work and money are 100% worth the extra time I have with my family.

Well, if I were to go O/O a used truck cost around $123k and will more than likely go bankrupt. The bar to entry is too low. However, if I just go back to school and spend half that to get like an RN degree, medical field, I can kiss sleep inside a truck, and 24 hour shift for free good bye. Now is it easy....hell no. But nothing worth doing ever is. I have to decide now. Trucking as a whole is under threat from many different angles. Fuel, automation, over saturation due to low bar to entry, criminality by Trucking companies and brokers. Just on and on and on. Total shit show.

This inspires me to do a video about my less than favorable experience at Prime. I feel like people need to be warned or at least educated on what to expect if they get involved with such a large, sometimes ethically corrupt, and sometimes fraudulent company. I did a lot of research on what company to get a license through and work for, but at the end of the day, I had to make a decision and jump in somewhere that was willing to work with me and my home location. Little did I know they were withholding important information from at the very start when just talking with the recruiter. Then after quitting my job to start a new job and go to SLC to start trainin, a month in, I found out more lies, then the next month more lies. Either way Im glad to be out of there, got a job at Swift doing the walmart dedicated account and love it. Making great money, insurance is a fraction of the cost compared to Prime's, and Im home for my 34 and a couple extra nights a week. There are way better gigs out there. Especially not having to work your butt of for not very much money being a company flatbedder. To those that are looking to be a company flatbedder for prime, they will charge you 6,000 for the equipment used to haul their freight. All that equipment is basically consumables that will need to be replaced occasionally. Especially bungee cords, tarps and ratchet straps. You should not have to pay for that as an employee to secure their freight. They said nothing to me about the cost, then after a month in PST I heard a rumor of 2k, month later another rumor of 3k. Then at my first paycheck on my truck saw they were taking out 6k!!, $100 per week. Its a scam and wouldn't recommend anyone to go that route, also the miles just didnt seem to be there. . Lesson learned.

Nature calls, but also you should know your body. Eating a whole bunch of crap that isn’t good for you will cause you problems eventually, why continue it ya know. That blue beacon incident.. call your trainer. “ hey I got the runs badly, don’t think I’ll make your departure time “ “ trainer : I’ll go get in line at the blue beacon . Let me know when you are finished, if you don’t call, I’m going to assume you are still sitting” Communication goes a LONG LONG way. - I can’t eat between 12-9 am, otherwise restroom calls. And when you are night driving, good luck finding anything open . The point of being WITH a trainer, you are going to learn the way to do things, including how to eat when you can, shit shower shave . Someone who takes their sweet time with things won’t make it in trucking when paid by the mile. And that CAN cost a company a contract if you are always late to get there.

Man, I gotta ask. How did it get that far? You said your trainee hit a trailer, is texting while driving, consistently won't listen to you or learn anything. How is this not documented and reported to Prime? I remember how my fleet manager and trainer were insistent that I call my FM once a week to report how things were going. My trainer insisted he was doing the same. How did this slip through the cracks? In your history in the world of law, how are you not covering your own ass? Why did you not report his shortcomings? If I caught a trainee texting while driving, it's an immediate pull over, I'm taking over and I'm running solo til I can get him back to Springfield. My ability to sleep would be SHOT because the trust is broken. That makes me ineffectual at my job if I'm not getting sleep and hopping behind the wheel of an 80,000 lb vehicle. I think you goofed by leaving him at that truck stop. You tried to use past issues with him that were seemingly not reported as a deflection to your own goof. If I'm wrong in any of my assumptions, I'm happy to be corrected. I really enjoy your videos and you but just reading between the lines of your story, it feels like you didn't leave yourself a leg to stand on. It seems like you were already done with Prime and looking for an out.

Great story. I bet Prime will be careful to hire another lawyer again, that call them out on their BS. I am just wondering the reason you stopped practicing law and got into trucking. I am trying the opposite stop trucking and start practicing.

Why Everytime a person get fired from a job , they start talking trash bout the company? ( Just asking for a friend )😂 If the company was so bad why stay working with them ... If I don't like a job or I'm not happy I leave the company and try somewhere else In my opinion 😂

If you haven’t found a company yet I drive for a company out of Vegas called MC carrier and I make decent money and I get to go home when I want. I take home between 13-1500 a week after all deductions and I have the best medical plans and stuff they offer. Been doing this 10 years And so far this has been the least stressful company I’ve been at.

Most of these megas are getting strict on medical, so I’m surprised someone on so many meds would even be hired at Prime. Also, never ceases to amaze me how many brand new drivers think they’re gonna get rich right away. It took me two years to land six figures and home daily, and I was grinding to get everything I needed for a job like that. I know some can do it faster, but it ain’t easy.

There are good company jobs out here find a small carrier with like 100 trucks that has contract freight and you’re good. I work at a place like that. I bring home after taxes between 1420 $200 a week. I’m home for my 34 every weekend, if I get stuck on the road for an extra night, I get paid 250. I can takeoff as much time as I want. Nobody bother me as long as I deliver on time and I drive safely but yes, there are good company driver jobs out here.

Ive had a trainee on my truck the last 2 months and i have to beg to get enough revenue to stay out of the negative. The money just isnt there to be training. Psd program isnt a good program because tnt is teaching trainees the basics and everything they need to know. The ta/petro in grapevine is fantastic there is alot of food options and there is always parking spots out there. Id have said something with him leaving the 90s property or told dispatch that we're heading to springfield and the trainee needs to have a conversation of if he wants to do this job. My dispatcher has told me one thing and went a completely other direction after telling my trainee to drink the koolaid and showed him that the koolaid was poisoned in the first week. Ive been feeling closer to the end of my time with prime for awhile alot has to do with revenue, bs with home time, fleet managers/sales, etc

@timtravels116 normally it picks back up even a small bit in April but I haven't really seen it. I think they have too many drivers for their share of the market. Making it harder for drivers to stack decent revenue. I've been doing around 5k per week in revenue and begging for more every week because I'm barely keeping my head above water with the trainee pay which alot of trainers said it would be alot harder after the last time it was raised.

i dont think lyle seen tha comment i left on his last video but seriously. if everybody out their foot down and stopped training. prime would either have to seriously up tha rates and number of team loads, or push training onto its company drivers and foot the bill....either way its a win win if everybody would come together and refuse to train

I find it completely bonkers that they called you up and essentially fired you while you still had a trainee on your truck. A particularly unsavory character could've easily beaten that man within an inch of his life, tossed him out of the truck, and drove off. Or just dropped him off on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere like you said. Sounds like Prime WANTS a lawsuit on their hands and just doesn't care. Like, at all.

@@timtravels116 it actually amazes me how trucking companies are even able to get away with Miss classifying all these drivers as independent contractors. I have also noticed that the Democrats seem to be against it and when Trump was in office he was for it or at least lenient on it . I watched somewhere that when Trump got office he relaxed it whereas you got Biden putting out laws that are more aggressive on it. Imagine hiring a professional painter to paint your house but then you're gonna offer him the vehicle and insurance and micromanage him
