Any storage area for 'canned' goods should have a layer of 'foam waffle', sold as 'anti-skid'. It's thin, less than a mm, it's cheap, about 1½ sq meters for less than 10€ on Amazon, keeps canned goods from sliding around and raises the can bases off the surface and lets air circulate to prevent condensation inducing rust... We learned the hard way! 🥺

I just found this, your KZread channel today and looking forward to the process and the changes of refurbishing this fine vessel back to its former glory so the two of you can enjoy the life you love the most and that is travel the oceans live your dream and at the price of one Euro I believe you'll be able to splurge on new items maybe such as an engine, sail and I could be mistaken but it looks like you found your I'm not boat savvy but your mast Pole that is going to allow you to do this and live the dream of being satisfied doing the work yourself and sailing this hard work and very labor intensive restoration to places around the world that only some of us have internet access and research to. I've got to say that I'm addicted to what you're doing with your new boat one euro purchase only to replace that Euro on your one Euro fine while cleaning out your new home for many years to come. Please keep the videos coming I'm addicted as well as many others I've subscribed and will like all the videos of the two of you doing this and hopefully there's enough people like me that this will make a difference in supporting you and your dreams that you're living that only some of us can close our eyes and put us in your position because of reasons that are out of our control. For years I dreamed of going to Alaska with what I can drive and pull there on a trailer with my truck and finding a place to homestead to start a self-sufficient self-reliable property and would love to be able to have shared that dream with someone that had an identical dream to mine. Unfortunately I've let time slip away and now at 53 years old my health will not allow me to live this dream that I've always had so it's so pleasant watching the two of you doing something that I would have loved to do when I was healthy enough and young enough to do it and that is again live your dream and you'll always have a happy life with a wonderful marriage if you make that dream possible for the two of you. There will be times that are hard days that are tough weeks and months that will financially strap you but I assure you in the end the two of you will have smiles and memories that last not only your lifetime many other people's lifetimes because they'll be able to view your KZread channel 80 years from now when we're all gone and see the legacy that you lived and left on. Thank you so much for the videos I'm sorry this is long I don't know how to text or comment other than by writing short book short stories and very long paragraphs in each one of those. With that said keep up the great hard work that is very satisfying to you now but wait until you pull out of harbor or Anchorage and set off for your first sale that's the moment that's going to probably bring tears to both of your eyes because the two of you will realize you're living the dream that so many of us have but we've just let life slip by too far to live it to experience it so I wish the two of you the best I know some of this may have been repeated in this comment paragraph / short book that I'm writing but I mean what I'm saying from the bottom of my comes from the bottom of my heart. Again live your dream do all the work right the first time and you won't have to go back to do it a second. I can't wait till I see the sunbird make it inaugural splash into the water to start a journey that many of us cherish but we just can't seem to fine thr time to do it. I only started watching at the video of we purchased a boat for 1 euro. What a fabulous job you did it getting that boat at that price even though it needs the work you're doing. By doing that work yourself you're saving money and building a legacy of the new old seabird. Absolutely love that you have taken on this challenge to restore this boat to be able to live on it and sail the oceans blue with many new heading and paths using the famous tradewinds. I wish the two of you nothing but the best luck and I will absolutely be addicted to following I've already subscribed and going to be following all of the progress and restoration the two of you will be accomplishing living your dream together. Keep it up it's only a matter of time years before she makes that first splash and the two of you start living the dream you want to live or the end of the dream that you want to live and that is save the world. Enjoy because I know I am watching your videos when I'm done with these few that you just recently posted I'm going to have to go down and start where it all started on your old boat and I look forward to doing so maybe watch a video or two a day in my spare time I'm sorry this is long but you're living a dream that I would have loved to live when I was young and healthy enough so the next best thing is to watch and witness a couple as of KZread living the dream that I would have wanted to live. Good luck if I hit the lottery and can donate I will but I can't do it collecting social security with the help that I'm in right now. But the smiles being put on my face watching these videos and whatever videos you've got from start to finish that I'm going to binge watch I want you to know that they're putting smiles on my face and with my health conditions a smile is one of the best medicines I can receive so thank you to both of you thank you keep it up I look forward to watching the progress.

Thanks so much for your lovely comment and sorry we haven’t replied until now. As you say, the fact that the boat was so cheap means that we get a nice margin to get engine, sails, rigging… We are sorry to hear that your health doesn’t allow you to follow your dream. That’s what we love about sharing this journey with all of you. You are part of it and hopefully those 15/20 min transport you to that dream. Both of us send you a big hug! Thank you again for watching and commenting 😊

Thank you for the down to earth videos you put out I am enjoying every one of them and am looking forward to sharing your happiness with you both.
