I understand BOTH sides of the argument about Influencers. That being said, if there were NO influencers like Asia Samson I would have no choice but resort to reviews by ostensible buyers who may or may not be posting TRUTHFUL reviews (...and believe me, there are plenty of fake reviews). I can at least put reasonable faith in Asia's opinion.

@@TheRealJimmy831 Yes, Jimmy I grant you that some "influencers" are very likely skewing their opinion about a product that was provided to them at no cost from the maker, so it does become sometimes a "crap shoot" in deciding whether or not to purchase. In the end one has to trust their "gut feeling" about what they read or hear. I'm willing to bet you, Jimmy, that most of Asia's reviews are fairly objective and not corrupted by the maker's influence. I have yet to be steered wrong on any product he recommends. Also, I temper my opinion with reviews from other influencers and also buyers' reviews to arrive at an educated decision. How do you, Jimmy, make your purchase choices ??? I'm guessing it isn't much different from my approach.

Your videos are always great and this one is right on time. Don't know if you caught it but an overland "influencer" recently posted and deleted a video bashing overland expo. The product marketing is all that matters to the extent influencers can no longer speak truth without consequences to their image. So now it's ppl forced to sell an image to the consumer even if they are not totally happy.

Appreciate your honesty, Yes I agree the shovels do look nice, I love the clean lines and the colours but that's what attracts people to them, they probably don't do any better job, except if they are lighter and stronger than traditional shovel that's a good thing, unfortunately their website says "While this is an amazing lightweight shovel we need to remind some people, it is not meant for prying type activity" so that says you are paying a premium for a less capable tool because it looks nice, it appears to be perfectly suited to soft sand but hit some heavy stuff and it will most likely bend, I do like the little poo shovel it's cute, Yes Maxtrax does have good marketing, rightly so as they changed recovery forever and make a great product, being made down under if it wasn't any good we wouldn't waste out money on it, they dare not ship manufacturing to overseas or that will be the death of the product, us Aussies don't tend to fall for the marketing crap especially in the 4WD market, it's got to work and be practical, if it doesn't work we just won't buy it, if it breaks we want our money back, politely asked for and not wielding a 9mm to get it back😂 that's why the Aussie made stuff you guys get is top quality, they charge top dollar for it so they have to produce top product, if they can sell it here you guys will take to it like a kid in a candy store, Maxtrax are pretty cheap here $249AU even cheaper on sale, so that converts to about 6 freedom dollars 🤣🤣👍👍

The straya community is legit hardcore. For sure if it doesn't work you guys don't buy because you can't risk being out in the bush and stuff fails. In fact I used to use connectors for my wiring but one thing I learned from you guys is if you can solder, solder! You don't want the risk of wires disconnecting And I 100% agree with maxtrax. @@BaptismOverland Definitely solder small connectors if you know how, if you don't, then learn 😂by connectors do you mean those silly twist things you guys use 🤣 larger connectors like 50A and above crimp is the way to go, get yourself a small hydraulic crimper with 4,6,8,10 etc crimps, these do a good job, they are cheap as, I got one for AU $50 delivered works like a charm, for the heavy crimps such as 95/120 use a TEMCo Hammer Lug Crimper Tool, it locks the big cables in so tight they will never come out,

Sorry mate, DMOS products are just smart marketing, I worked in Marketing for many years, You create an Image of the product ie: nice colour, different shape attached to your truck so you "look" good and "know" what you're doing, others then envy you, because the image is the product make's you "look good" then you drip feed the product to the market and have the website showing SOLD OUT more often than not, this increase's the FOMO for the product therefore you can charge what you want and maximise profit per purchase so don't need to sell as many to bring in the same revenue, then release a "new limited batch back in stock - be quick" and it's guaranteed to sell out every time, IT"S ALL MARKETING, I appreciate good quality products and hate getting burned with rubbish products, but I hate the marketing crap that's attached to most products, Also any lack of credibility influencers have is caused by themselves because they created their own FOMO bubble with suppliers money being the driving result.

I don't disagree. I worked in advertising before making content as an art director. Nowadays there's even more ways to market with social media. So I can spot when it's just marketing. That being said though, I haven't seen anyone else make shovels as compact and clean looking on the rig. That's just my opinion. Maxtrax had amazing marketing too. But their products have saved me many times. It's a balance. But you're right. There's tons of crap out there for SURE.

This is something that needs to be talked about. I would say there is a balance a creator needs with products. If i visit your page and it only consist of reviews or unboxings of free stuff that i would never be able to afford, I would not consider you credible, its almost obnoxious. I want to know you actually use and test these products rigorously. As someone who does this for the love of nature, and not for money or clout. I want to make sure you are doing the same.

Agreed! I try as best as I can to do a balance of installs, trips, reviews and DIYs. Lately we've had a lot of reviews because so many products were sent earlier this year. I'm down to like 3 products that still need reviewing then after that I'm taking a break so I can get to some installs and trips specially when weather starts to cool again. Admittedly though there's some channels (mostly in the videography world) that are nothing but reviews on cameras and lenses that I've found super informative.

I turn down hundreds of companies nowadays. Its because filming and reviewing takes "TIME"!!!!!!!! Time away from my family, burning vacation time away from my day job, expensive gas to drive out to cool locations. On top of that I often buy gear to go with the product I was given so Im spending money to do a review in the end anyway. For example i got sent an ebike to review and I had to buy a bike rack to carry it up top the mountains. (didnt have my tundra truck yet). Or they send me a gun and I have to buy all the ammo to do the review and ammo aint cheap! Plus they demand videos to be posted ASAP. They constantly email you asking when will the video be up??? To be honest....I'd rather just buy products myself and do my review on my own time schedule lol. No annoying emails from reps hounding me when the videos will be posted? Then theres the haters...."you arent a real this and that" SHM....I just want to share my thoughts and experience and have fun. Sometimes its not fun on many levels anymore haha. Great video bro.
