We Rented An Old Soviet Apartment (but it's kinda cool though)

A tour around the new but old apartment that we rented. We have big plans for it and it already looks much better painted white! 😅

I am surprised by a lot of the comments towards Vika and Toyla. About why they are always moving, in rentals, in airBB and housesitting. Do you think it’s so easy to leave one’s country and just buy a house and move in permanently with maybe no money, support system or family? I think none of this is anyone’s business. Vika seems to show where they are moving solely so she can move forward in filming her regularly scheduled videos in the new environment. Gd bless this young couple. They are doing the best they can for their young family.

Probably it´s not so easy to find something and they try to do the best of the situation. I think they are great. Some times you regret things in life and change your mind about what you want to do, that´s life. Sometimes life change things for you and you are forced to adapted to what is coming. It is not always easy, LIFE!

If you decide to open your life, family & personal living arrangements with the public on a Vlog it’s to be expected that some followers will show an interest & some maybe concerned . The moving was never explained at the time to any great degree, the moves seemed random & sporadic, enough room for speculation.

as a Ukrainian who had to leave my home town and country because of war last year, I can fully understanding all the moving and the vibe that comes with it. My family and I were moving a lot last year, even more than you did, and I get how tiresome and stressful it is in the end. I wish your family to finally settle for a longer period of time, so that you could find some stability and peace in your lives, and accumulate strength for further steps.

Here in Montreal, Canada I took in 4 Ukrainians last year for a month and then helped them to handle their paper work, find a place to live and to find work etc... I was very surprised by their resourceful and resilient attitude. It was a difficult time for them for obvious reasons but they carried on stoically. Three left the country; 2 in Spain and 1 back in Ukraine. The 4th is working at a fairly well paying job in Alberta and living in a communal house with other immigrants. Not easy for sure.

So interesting to see all these different buildings and the varying conditions of housing in all the places you’ve lived in so far! Love your videos and they teach people some very valuable life lessons: 1. Life has different challenges for everyone and it‘s a good thing to broaden our horizon and be reminded of all the things - big or small - that we can and should be thankful for. 2. Permanent settlements and a lifestyle based around routines has always been a sign of abundance and luxury. We all have nomadic ancestors - moving from place to place, adapting every single day to weather conditions, spontaneous occurrences and the many slip ups and malfunctions of day to day life was the norm, nothing extraordinary - which brings us to the next point: 3. We, as humans, are incredibly adaptive and able to inhabit almost every part of this earth, as long as we have each other and work together. 4. Materialistic things are just that: Materials. They can be a nice backdrop to beautiful moments, but over the cause of your life, they will become more and more irrelevant. You‘re favorite stories and anecdotes, that you‘ll be telling people when you‘re old and grey will very likely not include brand names, or elaborate details about the fancy wallpaper in your bedroom or the exact kind of marble of the kitchen counter tops. Most likely you will not tell anyone what they were made of, but the funny story will be about your cat jumping up on it to steal the leftovers. 5. The importance of our number one stabilizer: Our family & friends. Home is where your heart is and especially young children are not in need of fancy toys and afternoon activities with people they don’t really know… What they need the most is to be loved, seen and guided by their parents (/primary caregivers) and their extended family and family friends. ❤ I hope everyone counts their blessings tonight - thank you Vika for taking us along!

It's great that you and your husband are sensible about renting cheap and fixing it to your liking. Too many people rent high cost places and are not happy. Plus this allows you to renovate your country house by saving money.
