We Renovated a 2002 OLYMPIC 1000 caravan! FULL time travelling around Australia! OFF grid setup.
This week we show our budget renovation of our fully off grid 2002 Olympic Caravan.
As both new and second-hand caravans are currently very expensive in Australia we hope this illustrates what can be achieved with an older caravan even when you have a limited budget.
Please like and subscribe to follow along our journey as we do our big lap of Australia!

Thanks Vin!
Tks for sharing your build. I'm adding some off grid gear to our 2006 van and was interested in your Lithium build option vs Super4x4 one ready to go. Where did you source packs/bms and are you still happy with them?

Hi Jo, yes i have been very happy with my custom built battery. i used the following 280ah cells s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DBV3CtX For the BMS i used a DALY. link for that is below. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DmptjjR Thanks for watching mate
thanks for posting, the van looks great. the interior features are extremely similar to a van built by Luxury Line, of a similar era. do you have independent leaf suspension?

Thanks for watching! The van has a solid axle, with slipper leaf spring setup. Cheers
Well done!! Where did you get the blinds from??

Thankyou! The blinds are just from Bunnings.
Good job on the van. Did you increase the strength of your gas struts on the pop-top to help with the extra weight of the solar panels?
@griffinsgetaway

Thank you! No we didn't need to increase the strength it still works fine as is.
Love the Vida. How many km in the car and any problems

Cheers! We just boil water on the gas cooktop.
Hi guys, hope you're having a great time! Quick question: What is your experience with a caravan that isn't "off-road" where you've taken it on unsealed roads etc? Did the suspension hold up?
@griffinsgetaway
Жыл бұрын
Hi Mathew, we have taken the van on hundreds of km of unsealed roads and so far the suspension has been fine. The biggest issue is the dust, highly recommend getting a positive pressure ( dust suppression system ) if travelling for long periods on unsealed roads. Otherwise you will spend hours cleaning the inside of the van, the dust gets in everywhere. We also have all terrain tyres on the van which I would also recommend do reduce chances of punctured tyres. Cheers

What size tires do you have? Thanks again

@@griffinsgetaway Thanks for the channel. Would be interested in a short vid just reviewing the van after so many klm. From your videos, you have done nothing to upgrade the chassis/suspension (only tyres)? how many older van have you seen tripping around off bitumen?
Hi, is your caravan off road? Cheers
