For this video we got out and hit the road... for a five minute drive...
We wanted to properly show you what to do (and not to do) when checking into a caravan park so we talked to the wonderful people at the Highway 1 Tourist Park up here on Port Wakefield Road. They were kind enough to give us a beautiful pull-through site for the day so we could film a few videos, and we think they turned out beautifully!

I've been so busy looking at caravans, financing it, researching mods and sites this recommended video never even occurred to me 😂. Excellent presentation 🍻
Nice video thanks. Tip: dont start a conversation with your neighbour when they have arrived and are setting up or are packing up. Nothing worse than being distracted and you drive off with the tv aerial not wound down or a tunnel boot door still open!

Good point!
Nice video. We still use our tent. But it's great to see a lot of new caravan parks doing the drive-thru parking. We stayed at a big four the other day. Very busy. So many people struggling withreverse parking.
Another good tip...keep your awning tight and when you set it up, put a bit of fall on it to the rear of the van in case it rains. That way the water will flow off to the rear and not pool or poor off where you don't want it to. Also, when packing up, (a habit as a pilot) do at least 2 walk arounds and systematically check your van outside, touching and pointing at items, before you pull out.

Great idea
04:50 Get yourself a 10m cable. All that mess on the ground is an inductive accident waiting to happen. Also, when plugging into the 15A pole, those funny little things on the top are there to secure the cable.
When we did a towing course years ago we were advised to unwind your power cord so it's not touching esp when it heats up and place the unwound cord under the van so it's shaded

Absolutely, great tip thanks Meredith.
When you disconnect your annex legs from your van use tie down ropes or you will not have it for long. First gust of wind will flip it over your van.
I literally laughed out loud at the gaffer tape on the power cord tip! I have just got a van and the cord has only being used three times.

Make it look cut up and they won't steal it!
Top tip: rip that TV antenna off...commercial TV destroy your ability to think

All great tips, thank you. I was going to have a rant about the .5 p/c park managers that are nothing but tyrannical thugs on a power trip that seem to take great delight on picking on the old and venerable, but having only meet two in my many years it’s probably not worth mentioning, just get your money back and leave and know that all of us that witness it will come with you.
Thankyou for the video , our van arrives January ! Never been a caravan person , so trying to get as much info as possible , just like your presentation, cheers Geoff 👍😀

You are welcome!
Great informative videos. I would use bigger blocks of wood on stablisers on gravel or loose dirt the smaller would tend to tip.

Hi Bazz, We are working through a series of those videos...watch this channel.
As someone who normally bush camps/ station stays, this has had me scratching my head the odd time we've stopped at a CP. Do you park the van on the concrete pad or is that for the awning.
@adelaiderv
Жыл бұрын
The concrete is there for your caravan so it can be level. This doesn't stop people from leaving their van on the grass so that their awning is set up over the concrete. Have a great day Trev!

@@adelaiderv cheers
It would not be an issue with noise, if caravan makers did not put hi fi, systems on the outside.
Im sure... 😂 not setting up the awnings into the garden would be a good idea 🫣
Its is amazing how many people DO NOT respect other campers sites and cut through, even when those campers are sitting around. So many lazy and disrespectful people.
How about bringing in your phone and tag number into the office with you?
TV channel is the most receptive?? I dont think so.
That’s the least amount of highlighter I’ve ever seen used on a caravan park map

This is why I Havnt stayed at caravan park for years. People rock up and sit inside and watch tv 😂 you can do that at home. Not my cup of tea I guess
