You will be missed Tom Terrific you are truly a national treasure! ! ! ! Great video! ! ! And that's from a Cubs fan whose heart he broke in 1969.

As a Cubs fan, you may have missed seeing what happened on Seaver's first-time return to Shea as a Reds player: After getting the Mets side out in the first inning, he started walking from the mound towards the _Mets dugout_ ... then corrected himself.

I'm a Met fan and real baseball fans know what Tom Seaver did on and off the field. A true professional who taught a lot of his teammates how to be a man. I was at Shea Stadium in 69 when Seaver beat the Cubs in early September. The black cat walked the Cubs dugout and the rest is history. As a baseball fan nothing made me happier than to see the Cubs win one.
Will miss him.. Great Pitcher, Ball Player and a Gentleman of the game.. Was great hearing Bob Murphy announcing the games too. Another class act sorely missed..
I truly have a hard time watching these wonderful tributes to. Tom. Terrific they make me misty eyed. R. I. P
The greatest ever rest in peace!!!!
Simply put, Tom Seaver was the greatest right handed pitcher since World War II. Saw him pitch eight times. He was 7 - 0. He went head to head with the best. Saw him beat Bob Gibson, Steve Carlton three times, Ferguson Jenkins, and Jack Billingham in Game 5 of the 1973 NLCS. Also saw him beat Koosman and the Mets the first time he returned to Shea. The only game he didn’t win was when he left with the score tied 2 to 2 against the Big Red Machine in July 1973. When he left the game, he had thrown 12 innings. Tom Seaver was nothing short of magnificent. He was my favorite ball player and my hero growing up. RIP Tom Terrific.
The greatest Met of All time 👍👍👍👍👍
A great player.
Best pitcher of all time and my favorite Mets player. I got to see him pitch once at Shea and he won the game. RIP Tom and thanks for all the great memories.
Ironic he died of dementia, he was not a "dumb jock", he was an intelligent, thoughtful man. Good broadcaster too. RIP Tom Terrific

Per LymeDisease.org: "According to family sources, Seaver, 75, died peacefully at his home in Calistoga, Calif., from complications from Lyme disease, dementia and COVID-19." RIP Tom, and all the other Mets who brought 'magic' to my childhood.
He was terrific
Just a class act! RIP TO THE MAN THEY CALLED THE “FRANCHISE “

@@rickgeller6043 We Cub fans. It is an expression often said in and around Chicago, We is a term of identification not participation. Your either a Cub fan who REALLY hated Seaver or just suffer from very low self esteem.

@@rickgeller6043 Thanks Rick,,,,,its odd that 3 people have implied that I was trying to pose as a player when in fact, I say "Chicago Cub fans" .........it is like they never read/see the word, fans. Its not like I say, on behalf of the Chicago Cubs,,,,,,,
RIP to Tom Terrific.
I saw him pitch twice, in 1970 and '71.
Horrible loss the best met ever, definitely in the top 3 best pitchers ever
Back when baseball was about baseball, not politics.
I cried when three Met greats died - Gil Hodges, Yogi Berra and today when I found out Tom Seaver passed away..,damn, there I go again..,
No way! He passed?! 😔

@Don Clark No, the 31st. But its alright because so many different things come out the following days, that those who hear it for the first time get confused on when it occured

Youngs the no hitter and the 300 wins still belonged to. Tom. Terrific and to all his loving. Met fans. You have always and will always make us proud of being. Met fans regardless of what uniform you ever darned. R. I. P. Mr. Met

That was actually on July 9, not the 8th. I remember watching that game on TV.
