As a citizen soldier myself(national guard) I have loved their songs and some hit way to close to home . I've suffered with depression brought on by the stuff I've seen and done and this song does not miss that mark at all. I am proff that asking for help doesn't hurt only helps I've buried to many brothers and sisters I'm tired but until God calls me home ill carry this mantle and keep preaching that suffering in silence only kills speak up and don't choose a permanent solution to a temporary problem

One of my favorite parts about Citizen Soldier is that their songs never blame anyone for feeling the way they do, they tell you things can get better and that they know what it’s like because they’ve been there before. I meet so many people who put on happy songs when they want to stop feeling sad, but Citizen Soldier always cheers me up because they help me remember that I’m not alone, not the only one feeling how I feel.

Because of Citizen Soldier I have been 4 years clean from self harm and 3 years clean from suicide attempts, they saved my goddamn life. I remember meeting Jake in Phoenix AZ and I spilled my guts to him and he looked at me with a smile and said "I am so glad you are still alive". I almost cried because I felt like I had been forgiven for my self harm attempts and my suicide attempts. BUT DON'T WORRY I AM PERFECTLY FINE NOW!!!!

I found this song really difficult to listen to at first. I was SHer from the age of 13-18 (now 25). It took years for me to even contemplate going outside without a hoodie. Even to this day i sometimes find myself remembering the scars and almost having to fight the urge to cover them. I'm not so much ashamed of my scars now its more the possible questions. I honestly dread some of the questions, like the "why" question because it is virtually impossible to explain. A friend did ask once and the look on his face when I said I didnt know, of course he then followed it up with probably the worst question at least for me personally "did it actually help?" And yh it did, but for maybe 0.2 seconds, because once the initial release I felt I needed had passed, it hits you what you've just done and you feel insane because of course you are, what sane person gets comfort from hurting themselves, that is crazy...so now you feel stupid, crazy and need the release all over again so it becomes a cycle. Not to mention the guilt that comes with everytime you fall victim to the urge to do it, the urges that at least for me have never gone away. I'm now 25 years old and haven't done it in roughly 6 years but even to this day I still get the urges to, not all the time but when things are super stressful or sometimes just randomly the thought will cross my mind for seemingly no reason. So yh this song really hit close to home for me, Im actually currently saving to get an actual tattoo to cover the scars I have (most are barely noticable now so I doubt anyone even realises I have them).

I’m 51 and an old 80’s metalhead that prefers to leave the 80’s back where they belong and embrace the new. With that said, I was drawn to this band pretty much from the minute they appeared on KZread. I found out how to hire the band for a party before I could find any other shred of info about them. They’ve been nothing short of astounding! I’ve been spreading the word on them ever since. A few years back, I went through one of the worst nights ever, and opened my computer in the morning to the new release of “Weight Of The World” and damn near lost it. There’s no question Jake has a magical way of reaching people. That singing is something well beyond soulful. I don’t have any other way of putting it. Jake is the rock n roll version of Patch Adams! Without the clown routine. It doesn’t matter who you are or how lousy your disposition is in life, you can’t help but love him! 🤷🏻‍♂️

"WOW" is all a can say abiut that song. I honestly have never heard of this band and I am so happy that you introduced me to them. Kyle said they go heavy and light so I am very interested in hearing some of their "harder" stuff. The song and the message behind it that he told us was amazing! I love how he made you feel that no matter what you are going through, it will make you into you will become, never stop trying. I feel that this message can be relevant to more then just subject matter of this song, it could the same as many types of depression. Just my thoughts, anyway I'm rambling again, definitely on my playlist but I do see me skipping it once in a while as the message is very powerful and don't want my workers seeing me cry...lol Great reaction as always!

I found citizen solder not that long ago, and they are growing as one of my favorite bands. I have mental health issues and mental disabilities and a lot of times I need to listen to these songs just so I can feel good and have a good cry. Tattoos, scarecrow, and would anyone care are tied for number one from them. I like the message they share of don't be afraid to be yourself and we all take a journey to show not to be ashamed of ourselves for tattoos, you may think no one would care but they would and the world without you wouldn't feel the same for would anyone care. A Lot of the songs they do are so emotional and there good to cry to. 😭😭😭

This hit way to hard for me, cuz i wear my scars like tattoos, i have them everywhere. I use to self harm very VERY bad when i was younger and i have deep scars that i should have had stitches for and never got but the ones i wear as a reminder are the ones on my left wrist, when i tired to check out but my grand father (he was not with the living when this happened) came to me and told me it hasn't my time and said to be strong. I am also a recovered addicted of 6yrs from heroin cuz cutting wasn't enough anymore. I feel EVERY word in this song. I do have tattoos (plus scars dont take ink very well) but they do not cover my scars cuz i need to remember why they are there. I get stared at a lot cuz they are on my legs, stomach, arms are very bad and i have satisfaction on my back too but every scar has a story that helps me make it to the next day, even my scars from using. Sorry for the sob story but this hit to hard not to share.

One way to word it is that we are who we are today, BECAUSE of who we were. Regardless of who we were at the time, we have changed, and that change is what makes us who we are now. Many of the people that live in this world now, don't think they have anyone to turn to when these things happen and Citizen Soldier's songs let them know that they are NOT alone in this world. There are so many other people that will do whatever it takes to help you survive and keep on going, and they are not the only one that do that. 'Five Finger Death Punch' is another great example of mental help for those that have problems. These people are what makes society better than what it was. Thank you for all you do for those that feel like no one will help them, thank you for giving them hope, and most importantly thank YOU for being YOU.

I was wondering how long it would take for your react to citizen soldier. The singer Jake is a licensed therapist, but also a suicide attempt survivor. Excellent band!

More on the lead artist, he's more than just a therapist, he's a survivor! His first song was written in a Psychiatric Hospital after an attempt on his own life. Thank god he survived, he's improving everyone's lives.

The lead singer battled mental health and now uses those trials to help thousands of people. Listen to their catalog, you definitely won't be disappointed. They are incredible and they come out with banger and banger.

I nvr cut myself with a blade but i used to bite my fingers and hands and claw my arms and face to make "invisible" scars. Tempory scars that hurt that would cause physical pain to relieve some of the mental and would evn break the skin sometimes and then would hafta hide it so no body would see them. Evn now i still do this evry now and then because i can only take so many years of build up at once. I have quite a few knives and have contemplated on many occasions of killing myself with those blades but somthing would always come along at the perfect time and stop me wether a song a friend or family member. And over the years ive attributed that to God putting those things in the perfect place wen i needed them at that moment because there's no explanation for why ive been stopped so many times other then that.

" I buried all the pain used to feel so ashamed of all things I wrote about myself with razor blades." that lyric got to me and made me cry because I am a suicide survivor and the first time I tried to commit I was 14 the second time I was 16 I'm 22 now and I'm mentally disabled. That lyric specifically got to me because I used to self harm because I tried to commit. I still regret it my own father and I don't have a good relationship. He doesn't notice me or even tell me that he's proud of me he doesn't even support me because I'm bisexual. I hate the fact that we grew out of our relationship and I miss talking to him I really do.

😢 A few years back I googled who would care.. As to who do you address and how do you put down words you can't find to explain what you're feeling inside.. When you're not even sure who will care.. I found tattoos from citizen soldier.. And my path changed, I found unlimited reasons to not leave my 4 year old son behind.. And to give myself another chance. And my scars inside and out became my tattoos. @CitizenSoldier thank you. 🤗
