We're back with another new semi Western Star 5700xe
Ойын-сауық
We had a 5500 mile week after returning from vacation. It was a great week to test our new 2017 Western Star 5700XE!
All videos are recorded hands free by the passenger via the GoPro mobile App. The driver, at no time, operates the camera while the truck is in motion.

Welcome and welcome to you further progress and success
Thank you for the vid ! New thing now in South Africa too and that is to limit trucks . Bad thing here is we are limit to 50 miles (80 km/h) ! Ridicules is an understatement ! Keep it save and congratulations on that beautiful truck.
I am Ramzi from Algeria. I am one of the lovers of American cargo, especially Western Star, a wonderful truck with wonderful people

+HAOUACH SMAIL well thank you!
Thats is the best storage layout in a truck I have seen.....nice cabinets. Makes me consider WS. Truck. When I buy next truck.

Thanks Tim! It was very relaxing and much needed.
WS 5700XE is the best looking truck out there hands down. They dress up sweet too. A little light on gauges though. They can keep the auto-trans. Just another thing to go wrong. When it's -20 outside, you don't wonder if she'll go into gear with a manual trans.
Really it's beatiful truck. Congratulation.

Trucking with Double D's do the western stars have the touch screen option in the dash for GPS navigation and such like the new cascadias do?
@TruckingwithDoubleDs

Clinton K they do. This one doesn't have that. We use a rand McNally
nice truck, very nice.....
Nice truck i drive a 2016 5700xe daycab pulling super b chip trailers to and from interior bc towns loaded with wood chips from tolko and west fraser mills got it in oct 2016 it is now aug 2017 she has 248000 kms on her and has never left me on the side of the road yet ! She is now the old lady of the fleet we have about 30 of them most are still under 130000 kms or less,2 more years and she will go back to her makers.
hi ! very beautiful truck, auto shift transmission the top!!!

Thanks! I like the auto on the highway. Not a huge fan in town though. It tends to be a bit jumpy if you leave it in auto, in town. I just run it in manual when we hit towns.
Hi i would love a update on the trucks reliability pls. If you have had break downs what have they been. In looking at buying a new truck and the 5700 I'd inevof my choices. Thanks a lot
This video is so 😎 cool.
The Western Star 5700XE is a sweet machine. I wish I had one.

+John Fitzpatrick so far it has been a great truck. We've had a couple minor issues, but mainly cosmetic things.

My only problem is when I've seen demonstration videos, they don't show ones where it backs into a dock. I would like to know how well it backs into a dock.
@TruckingwithDoubleDs
7 жыл бұрын
John Fitzpatrick it does very well backing in docks. What I've learned it to use R2 rather than R1. It as smooth as a manual that way. The same goes for backing under a trailer.

Interesting advice. The problem I've had with some trucks is that they drive great forward, but backing up is a nightmare. The Freightliner and International are smooth. Macks jacknife too quickly on me. Peterbuilts are a bit jumpy. My problem with Volvos are the sightlines in the mirrors. With Kenworth 660's, the cab is too tight and narrow for me, while 680's are a lot better. For me, the sightlines in the mirrors are what's important for me. Also, most of my loads go to and from Northern New Jersey, which is a nightmare in itself.
@TruckingwithDoubleDs

That was the issue with the Prostar we, the cab was to tight. It made it a nightmare for my wife to back safely using the mirrors. The sightline on the 5700 is great. It backs very smooth.
WS and Mack's are my 2 favorite trucks

The 5700ex if one of my favorite models so far.

I'm with ya on the manual.
Hi, nic truck (optimus prime) 5700XE** Just wanna know the specs and how is it doing now after you would have driven thousands of miles and more than couple of years in it. Any issues with engine, transmision, def, egr, shocks, alignment, fifthwheel i mean any sort of problem in interior. What's the mileage all combined..
JB hunt is governed at 62 but they just charged it to 65 when the truck goes in for the next B-service they will set the cruise control to 65 but the foot petal will still be at 62. I hate it. I’m looking for another job but at least JB hunt transferred me to North Carolina from Connecticut. Anyways thanx for sharing.
@TruckingwithDoubleDs
6 жыл бұрын
Aron Bronner I don't think I could do 62mph. We've had several job offers and refused them due to low govern speed. I know it's petty, but we look at the mileage loss due to the lower speed.
Wow a swift truck that was not in a ditch
hi guys how often do ya get a new truck? luv ya videos enjoy ya new truck

+Wilberto Escalera we've worked for this company for just over 2 years and we have gotten 4 trucks. The first 2 were 2010 Cascadias. Then we went to a 2015 western star 4900 bit it was a bit much for the wife with the long nose and shallow turn radius. Then about 6 months ago we got a 2015 Prostar. The owner then bought this 2017 a month ago and offered it to us. Of course we we're going to say no. Lol. I think we'll be in this one for a while. :)

Lol.
How do you feel about the automatic now after some time with it? What disadvantages have you found?
@TruckingwithDoubleDs
6 жыл бұрын
No real disadvantages but the one annoyance would be the computers inability to detect weight and hills. It would up shift to 12th gear when we were trying to pull a 7% grade fully loaded. We would be at 900rpm, just chugging like crazy and it would refuse to download shift. They (western star) definitely needs to work on the computers inabilities.
Hey nice truck, I really like the 5700EX, I just sold my 2013 Cascadia & will be getting a 5700 only mine will be the 68” sleeper. Is it heavy, I’ve heard the WS is a little heavier cause the cab is steel.
@TruckingwithDoubleDs

It was a heavy truck. It rode like a lumber wagon also. But man did it pull!
Is there an anit-shake feature on your cameras? Please use it because i cant eat my Fruity Pebbles and watch your videos at the same time....lmao! Yes i said Fruity Pebbles dog gonnit...lol. Real nice truck yall!👍

How does it pull? What are the spec on drive tran and Horsepower?
@TruckingwithDoubleDs
6 жыл бұрын
It pulls pretty good. Not as well as the Prostar with the ISX did, but it's acceptable. It is a 12speed auto and I believe it is 500hp
Nice truck but it probably smell stocky inside now.

I was never so happy to get into and then out of a truck in my life. Beautiful driving truck. Interior storage was crap and that big old bed is 6 inches narrower than the Cascadias bed I got out of. Every time I rolled over in my sleep I hit the wall and woke up. No thanks. Did drive nice though.
@TruckingwithDoubleDs

+Thomas Engle they definitely have a few down falls. Mine would be the rough ride on road cracks. It takes them very rough.
Is that the 68in or 82in sleeper?
@TruckingwithDoubleDs
7 жыл бұрын
+jonathan runciman I've never measured it, but I'm sure it is the 82. It's cavernous. The bed uses queen size bedding.
how's the mpg in that truck with flatbed. ...

I also wanted to make sure your original question was answered so I went and looked. Here is my reply to you a week ago. The answers were given in the video comments of Hello dispatch... We kind of slept in I'm not posting this to prove a point but to assure you that I do answer all question but sometimes the viewers miss the answer. Here is the answer I gave you a week ago to your question on, Hello dispatch... We kind of slept in. I personally think separate cameras are better only because you can place them where you want. I've seen the DEZL and Rand McNally with the built ins, but they're only going to see based on where you mount the GPS. I like my GPS mounted to the dash, rather than the windshield so it wouldn't work for me.
Only thing I noticed is how you smoke with Windows up, it is pretty disgusting guy where you sleep and live? sorry last video I watch.
