I mean yeah, all the stuff he rips on on the review is valid... but holy jeez that animation really is gorgeous. The smoothness of the movement, the characters changing angle and the animation managing to maintain perspective smoothly, that's a really really REALLY hard thing to pull off well in traditional animation. Plus I've always felt like the whole mixing 2D and 3D animation thing was just too short-lived and it was a REALLY neat way to animate a movie, like how in some scenes the cars or buildings or whatever were CGI while the rest was still traditionally animated.

18:40 According to a partially found deleted scene (from when John Malkovich was going to be the voice of Prof. Screweyes), the reason he has that name and namesake is because when he was young, a crow pecked it out because a berry landed on it, as he was asnooze under a berry bush. Thus he gained a fear of crows, and came to the conclusion that the world made no sense. Quoting the particular moment, "I have a peculiar fear of crows, so; I keep them by me. I watch them with a real eye, and a steel eye. I am afraid of them, but I am their master. I am the master of my fear!" Not much else of this deleted scene has been uncovered, so I can only speculate that between that and his final scene in the movie, his scary circus is to his fear, what pain killers are to headaches; Scaring and being surrounded by humans makes Screweyes less fearing and traumatized about the sleeping berry bush Incident. It can also be speculated that the crow in the final shot was the very same crow that poked his eyes out in the first place. It was uploaded to KZread sometime in May 2009, I imagine somebody who watched Nostalgia Critic videos back then musta known about it.

Trouble I had with this move even when I was a kid, was that I never saw Prof. Screweye as a bad person. That clown DID say that people went to his circus to be scared. Knott's Scary Farm, Universal Studios Halloween Haunt, Disney's Haunted Mansion... Ring any bells or should I try and compile a list of all the horror movies have been made since the beginning of the movies? He wasn't hurting ANYONE. All he was really doing was just giving these people what they wanted. Furthermore, I remember that when the kids tell him their intent he says, "Well you ran away to the wrong circus, go home!" They insisted. Yes, he pushed Rocky's hand to the contract but Rocky was already reaching out towards it so he already had the intent inside of him to join. Note, Prof. Screweye never did anything to the kids until AFTER they signed themselves away to him. Same thing with the dinosaurs. They had to agree to take his Brain Drain before he actually gave it to them. So, yeah, the guy was eccentric and a little cruel, but I've seen worse in kid movies.

You actually can't change the past since the paradox theory stats that if you go back to change the past then the event that happened which caused you to go back and change the past never happened meaning that you would never to back to the past to change making it so the past was never change and the event would still happen. It's kinda confusing but in short it's saying that changing the past makes it so there is nothing to change and what ever you do will create a paradox.

is it just me or did the logic in this movie change when the t-rex regained his intelligence when the boy begged the t-rex to not eat Screweye?
I love how Neweyes dropping the dinos into the present the way he did indirectly granted all the wishes they heard earlier on, beyond just the Dino based ones like the girl who wanted a hat and Louie wanting a friend. I thought that was a cool element to show how many steps ahead and in control at all times Neweyes was but wish they went a little further with it too..I also realize this meant Neweyes must have had at least a pretty good idea how things would play out with his brother and basically enabled the orchestration of his demise..pretty dark and it makes you realize both of them are playing God with the timeline but by wanting to make what he feels is a positive impact over seeking more basic self gratification like his brother, Neweyes is doing a LOT more potential harm to the future and not above sacrificing pretty much anything to atain his personalized goal. As long as things work out the way feels is a happy ending, he is willing to put a bunch of dinosaurs and kids through Hell and sacrifice his brothers life. He has the power of TIME TRAVEL. He can manipulate and change anything that has happened at will so putting his brothers fate down to his own doing when the events that lead to said fate where all because of neweyes' grand design and he could change ANYTHING he wants it REALLY makes him come off as a heartless narcissist. The books were pretty trippy to start though and there was a great short deleted scene that both helps explain both the origins of screw eyes and his death..it's sort of a Batman thing if Batman became more like the joker where he embraces a traumatic childhood moment to use what he is afraid of for his life goals of terrorizing others as a way to feed his own damaged phsych so I'd LOVE to see this redone with a little work to the story. Delving a bit more into screweyes and his relashionship with his brother, showing off the strategic mastery of neweyes a bit better in a way that makes him more three dimensional than just the perfect grandpa figure..and using the Dino subplot to tell the story of the brothers over vice versa would be an awesome take. Seeing how they are doing this already with the Disney live action villain movies and similar stuff has been done in "wicked", "oz the great and powerfull" and the like, I don't feel it would be too absurd to have the story of Screweeys still being a menacing threat (and maybe build him up even more since he can turn a bit geezery and lame at certain moments) but explore his sour relationship with his brother more that made him this way. A madman satist with hyper advanced technogoly from a distant future whos one goal is to bring sheer terror to our time period. If done right, he can be the most terrifying villain we've seen in some time and Neweyes..well..he can be the most terrifying antihero to go with him. Clearly he has beyond godly power at his fingertips and only direction based on what HE feels is justified. The implications of how he can unstoppable shape his univers in his image at the cost of countless lives as they were is massive! These are the truely two most INTERESTING characters in the movie and should have had the most focus on them the whole time. I love John Goodman and I LOVE dinos..but yeah..Neweyes and Screweye were WAY too underused and as tired as I am with dark remakes "fixing" what wasn't broken on great villains to make them relatable for no reason, I think this is an exception that could greatly benefit from that treatment!

Brandon Roberts I've heard of it but forgotten all about it till this review came out.
The animation is very good, John Goodman's song was nice and catchy, and the actors do look like they are trying. It seems like something I would watch if I was a kid.
I actually like this movie but this review is funny! 🤣
This was my favorite movie as a kid! The nostalgia is real.
The animation in this movie is surprisingly good
How ironic that Disney Channel once aired this movie on TV, and that led people thinking it was a Disney movie, despite it was owned by Universal! You know, on of Disney’s rivals?
I was absolutely obsessed with this movie as a kid, I would watch it all the time. If the songs are played now I’ll still jam out
I actually liked this movie, still do. Especially when I'm wasted ^_^
I actually kind like this film, it has nice animation, the music score is great, the voice acting is good, Professor Screweyes was a great villain and I honestly found the Stubs quitting scene very funny. That being said this is a good film, but it does has some flaws. The Police chase scene goes way to longer, even for an hour and 10 minute movie. I think the movie should have more songs, if it wants to be a musical or have no songs at all, because having just one came out of nowhere, and despite the movie titled We're Back a Dinosaur's Story is kind of misleading title and an odd because it kind sound like a sequel because it's called "We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story" they coming back to the big screen and it's also the title on the book that was based on.
10:57 Apparently this takes place in the year 1993 because the movie theater in the background is playing Jurassic Park

That’s true, it’s almost like, what’s the point? The stupid dinosaur may as well have eaten him. This was clearly his day to die!
Here’s the lesson: Never run away from home no matter what. Kids in abusive households may not necessarily need to apply
I actually really enjoyed this one. I remember seeing it before I turned 9 and how much I was dazzled by the animation, dinosaur characters, main song and voice work. I actually confused it with a Don Bluth film since I was raised on his work - oddly enough, it wasn't, but it was financed by the Amblin Animation department of Universal, executive-produced by Spielberg AND released simultaneously with JURASSIC PARK. I even remember watching it at a lock-in at school during the 3rd grade with other students. That being said, I guess the dark tone really put off some people - my kid brother didn't even want to revisit it after the first viewing and no matter how many times I wanted to see it again he kept insisting on not doing so. I guess it scared him so much that he hated it, but me, I was never that disturbed too much.
0:07 oh yeah I love watching the Nostaglia Critic, even more than The Agnry Vimeo Nerd, and Liknara
The death of the baddie is legitimately terrifying. The raptors in Jurassic Park didn't eat that fast.
Also, Rex is NOT a T-Rex, they have two claws, he has three, he's an allosaurus.

Mitch Miller could easily be a hybrid. We’ve found dozens of very large predators, seemingly with hybridization. It’s a form of evolution, that makes sense for dinosaurs, and their amazing success for a hundred million years. While we’ve barely been around for a million.

That's not remotely how hybridization works. Tyrannosaurus and Allosaurus are too distantly related, besides having existed tens of millions of years apart. Also, less importantly, dinosaurs were around for closer to 200 million years, compared to Homo sapiens, which has logged less than a million so far.

8:05 Helloooooo, Lisa Simpson. LOL 😂
Ha-ha, Fozzy journalism instead of Gonzo journalism. I see what you did there. (PS I still love this movie)
thanks for introducing me to this version of My Favorite Things
Man its criminal how good Doug Walker used to be. This is a masterstroke.
Mother of God, I want to see NC be Raul Puke again!
THIS was made by Steven Spielberg's studio ?!! This. Can't. Be. Explained !!
Oh my gosh I used to have this VHS tape and I watched it SO many times~ I LOVE this movie, it's definitely one of my childhood favourites
I remember this! I must have suppressed my memories of this, you brought them back Critic.
10:05 Come on, New York City on Thanksgiving? It's the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. As mentioned by a point in the flight scene, Louie's plan was to pass them off as robotic dinos in the Parade so they could pass through the city on the way to Central Park without creating a panic. Rex's musical number ruined it.

Another example of the nostalgia critic not knowing everything
You know, a "Family" picture.
17:52 I always remember that line.
Doug Walker doing an impression of Fred Flintstone: "Gee, Barney. After all these years, I thought you were after my Fruity Pebbles."
