as far as I'm aware every Wonder effect is just a complex setup using in-level actors, nothing is hard-coded, meaning that it should technically be possible to mess with them whatever way we want to

a unique Wonder effect would probably require some complex programming which isn't my area of expertise, but if there's enough interest in modding the game I don't doubt that'll happen

1:34 - I totally wasn't the person to mod Mario Wonder, so I could make the Talking Flower swear or anything. And then later have articles written about it LMAO Which resulted in Nintendo taking down my Twitter video on it, but it's all good now LOL

I bet the fact that the terrain is plotted instead of based on a tilemap probably speeds up modding levels significantly.

yes, I suppose once we have an editor it'll make it comparable to tiling Mario Maker terrain, though it might also allow for less freedom when it comes to custom tilesets

My one complaint so far about this game is the spin jump seems to be useless. Like in SMW it makes you invulnerable to certain things but in this game it doesn't. But honestly the game has been a blast.

Modding being so advanced at this stage just shows how much of a big deal it will be. I can't wait 👀

Wonder Modding started early. I bet the mods will come out epic.

I love the fact theres drama with sonic superstar and modding, meanwhile mario while has a ton of mods already with no drama. The irony

The point-based levels are quite intriguing, as it speaks to a rethinking of how smb levels are constructed on a fundamental level. It looks like wonder is not only a reimagining of smb on a gameplay level, but a technical level as well. I imagine this tech will be used in future super mario bros. games and the reason the devteam had so much reported space and freedom with the development of wonder is because wonder will be the basis for the next 5-10 years of super mario brothers.

@@Rimea If we get to SMRPG mods, I'd like to see Bowser get a hair fix (getting his hair from Smash Ultimate to replace the ugly mainline hair), Peach wearing the classic dress, and the FP Flowers recolored to have the modern Fire Flower colors (to resemble the Fire Flowers from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show), just to name a few.

I might have a few ideas: -Convoluted bubble jumping acrobatics, possibly during a rising lava section or a level inspired by Climb to the Beat -Elephant Mario somehow having to play volleyball with a carryable enemy -Climb to the Beat with a crapton of firebars

I can see a huge mod tool and level editor being made for this in mere weeks. Amazing work!

There is so much stuff in this game and if modders take their creativity to the test, we are talking about whole new bmganes by scratch. Who remembers the NSMBWii Rom hacks? for this game has the potential to be as big if not bigger than the Newer Super Mario Bros hacks!

That the flower swears at you made me laugh more than what would be expected from someone my age 😂 Brings me back the times you could edit .wav and textfiles without skills

2:55 i think the timer is tracking how long it took you to beat the level because if you finish it fast enough the celebration is different at the end

As someone who's recently starting downloading backups of my Switch games specifically for modding on Yuzu. I am actually impressed how quickly the modding community latched onto Wonder. I've already downloaded a mod that changes peaches Float from a Mario style cap, to using her dress Ala SMB2.

@@mariotheundying lmao that's very specific and would take a lot of hard coding since that never happens in the game. Though there probably are shortcuts via modding currently existing abilities (Give the fireball an egg texture or something..)

The second gameplay video of the game that I encountered was a modded version. That was a week before the game released. That is really impressive and hopefully we'll see lots of crazy level creations and find the limits of the game.

I can't wait for a Level Editor sotfware, imagine creating a lot of stage with candy biome or just with tileset of the game, they're so beautiful.. Level Editor + Map Editor and we have a Newer SMB Wonder.

Hex editing for texture mods reminds me of the early days of modding Splatoon 3. Having to resize every texture to fit the original was so boring. Can't wait to see what comes out of the Wonder modding community in the future! ^_^

But i really like this game it's one of the bests right now for my oponion and modding will give this game a Big Revolution. interested in when you Go on for "Your" Rom hack like NSMBU Rimea Or however it was called. your own rom hack whould be nice to try out.

If it is there then I hope it's just an option, because placing tiles would prob be faster to do, and you wouldn't have to think about where to put the dot Also from what I heard, smm2 doesn't have touch controls so maybe add that for the editor like the Wii U ver
