We put the most durable waterproof luxury vinyl flooring to the test. Did ScratchMaster pass?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

When we first heard about ScratchMaster by Nextfloor we were skeptical. A waterproof luxury vinyl floor that looks and feels like real wood and claims to provide superior protection from scratches, scuffs, stains, dents and even burns from excessive heat. Sounds like the perfect floor right? Well we've heard companies make wild claims like this before but were always disappointed when we put them to the test. They performed fairly well with some test, but always had a weakness of some sort. This one claimed to be different though, featuring a new and unique finish different than the rest. So we decided to put it to the test. I think it's fair to say we threw everything at it besides the kitchen sink. See how it performed and let us know in the description what your thoughts are. We love to get feedback and suggestions for future videos.

I got this. I'm happy. I should had it has REALLY STONG joints for the locking system. Something most lay people don't think about, but this means it will hold, really, really well. Other tongue/grooves from other brands can tear off easily. Something to check when you get new lvp.

great video. I plan on installing this name brand in my finished basement on a concrete slab. My basement is very dry, never had water in it. My question? Do I need to install an underlayment with scratchmaster or No?

Great question Laurie. It is highly recommended that you put down a 6 mil poly plastic underlayment whenever you install this type of product on a concrete slab. I look at it as cheap insurance. You may not have a moisture issue today, but that can change over time. I have seen photos of floors with mineral deposit build up in between the planks because they did not use a moisture barrier.

Great video. Looked like the screw tip scratched but the video moved through that quickly. I have an older dog with constant long nails that were not able to cut because he won’t let us. He can gauge our hard woods easily. Curious about the mail test you did.

Hey Mike, dog nails should be fine with this floor. What we noticed is that sharp metallic objects were the worst offenders. Otherwise if it wasn’t metal it was basically scratch proof. I hope this helps.

Looks like it is the Natural Oak color. The color in the video might be slightly off from the sample in person since it was edited.

I am not familiar with traffic master and how it performs. I would say that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to get a good quality product under $2.50/sf.

Does it contain cancer causing chemicals?

Not that we are aware of. What we do know is the product is phthalates free and is floorscore certified. This means the product is very safe for your home. Generally rigid core spc vinyl products are going to be the cleanest products in comparison to laminate and hardwood which typically use adhesives which emit cancer causing VOC's.
