I remember painting the Berlin camo on the Fox. We used brushes and tins of paint. One guy had the pattern and shared it between the crews. All patterns were (almost, at a distance) the same. Great job lads.

Always reckoned that the thickness of paint on our 432’s and CVRT’s was more protective than the original armour.

people always ask me 'what paint do i use' the answer's always the same, 'wet paint, it goes on easier' love Ted, great looking dog, and got great character, likes to get in on the action, just lost mine, so going to miss him, Gunner was a German Short Haired Pointer, was a great character too all the way to the end wow was beginning to think you'd fallen out with Flatter Matt, and he's cooking on gas, burning stuff, welding his nuts Jack doing a sporting job on the paint scheme, will be nice to see that . . . parked up somewhere in town, outside a police station perhaps hehe . . . the one that helped so much with your Landy

You guys are really quit amazing. Often laugh when you say we don’t know what we are doing, yet you all have a better understanding than most mechanics that have gone through school. It’s a far better mechanic that can trouble shoot a problem than one that just replaces parts until the problem goes away.Keep up the good work.🎉🎉😊😊

You guys need to get a HVLP pressure pot for painting these old girls....thats what i used when painting re-furbished d11 dozers.....pot that sits on the ground, holds about a gallon of paint, and has the hose and gun coming off of it and air hose plugs right into the pot.....makes painting big stuff easy and can put down a lot of paint quickly

MoD develops Infra-Red Reflecting (IRR) paint with very specific IRR properties at great expense - there's even a Defence Standard for it, and a NATO one. It then contracts out for manufacture at great expense and issues it to units. Who then dilute it with petrol to make it go further, thereby neutralising the very properties it was developed for. Don't you just love the false economies at unit level in the Army. I tried explaining this to a QM Tech at a Gunner regiment in Gutersloh in the late eighties - it was like trying to explain nuclear fission to a piece of cheese.

I repainted the Chieftain 1000 at the Yorkshire Air Museum some six or seven years ago, with a two inch brush, (well about a dozen actually, easier to use a new one rather than trying to clean them). Really really enjoyed it, amazing how many of the visitors wanted to talk about it, and how many ex army guys had so many stories to tell. It stands outside and needs painting again, still worth a visit, how many times can you say , I parked next to a Chieftain?
