"We need to unpack this!" Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays Unpopular Opinion

Музыка

Phoebe Waller-Bridge joins Greg James on the Radio 1 Breakfast show to react to listeners' unpopular opinions and get to the root of life's tough questions.
Is BBQ veg pointless? Should we all be checking gig set lists before we go? And is chewing a clean wet sponge the move when you're bored of drinking water the old fashioned way?

I 100% agree with Becky about the setlist for the reasons she laid out. I always look at the setlist once a tour has started so I know if my favorite songs will be played or not & I know what to expect from the show.

Is knowing the set list before a concert actually a thing? This is new to me. How does one find out the set list before a concert? Which bands are publishing their set lists? And I'm pretty sure that many of the bands that I've seen over the decades regularly mix up their set lists.

  • @matejaiveta112

@@oneworldfamily well, no, the bands aren't publishing them, but there's a whole site where people can enter what was played and then you know for the next shows, of course they mix it up from time to time, but you can generally know what to expect (unless its the first or the first few shows)

I feel like, most tours are centered around albums. So, lets say, liking the album or at least know the songs is a must. Otherwise you can feel excluded whilst. True fans probably know almost every song from the artist, so just getting involved and being surprised would be really cool. But who does that nowadays haha. Risking everything by thinking only big hits will be played is generally a bad idea.

In hospital, if you’re not allowed a lot of liquids, (if you’re pre-op or have renal issues etc) they give you a small sponge to dip in water to suck, so you can wet your mouth but not take on lots of fluid.

Agree with the set list at gigs. At the height of both their fame (before Kanye went a tad more loopy), my ex and I went to the "Watch The Throne" tour in London. I probably couldve bought the tickets for just the one song, "N***** in Paris", as it was prpbably the biggest song at the time, and i heard they'd played it about 8 times back-to-back at their show in Paris, so i was looking forward to it. DumDum here went to the toilet and missed the entire song twice!!😮😂😮😂😮😂

i'm a big fan of spoilers and really believe that a good story is more enjoyable the second time around, or knowing the ending gives you space to notice more details along the way, and even so, knowing the setlist in advance strikes me as hilariously extra. It feels like a dependence on familiarity, and the way "songs you don't like" are things you have to mentally prepare for - because the experience isn't good enough in itself? I don't know. I'd rather see a band I don't know in a smaller venue than a band I love in an arena though, so perhaps I'm just diametrically opposed to this experience.

Its a bit unfair to criticize her for Indy 5 she didnt write the script she was just an actress and when it comes to No Time to Die she is one of many writers for that movie so if you want to blame her you should blame the other writers as well.

@@jackbauer5455Well she definitely defecated all over Indy 5 with her crappy, annoying acting besides how bad her character was overall. And she was the one who said out loud that she wanted a more feminist Bond so yes, I blame her largely for No Time to Die being a joke of a movie.

@@Phil_Mitchell Her annoying acting was part of the role otherwise the director would of recasted her and when it comes to No time to Die you act she was the one in charge of the movie which was not the case so as far as I know she only mainly contributed to add humor in the script and adding more depth to some characters the story wasn’t changed at all by her it already had feminist themes anyways this was confirmed by her.

Tell you what is grossly unpopular and super cringe. The host trying to get Phobe to sing that moronic jingle. Embarrassingly bad. I'd be amazed if she ever comes back to R1 again.
