Unfortunately a good portion of these complaints is the employee simply not understanding how labor laws work in the US. While the conditions seem rough and need to improve I don’t understand why they’d think they would get overtime if they got a paid day off. Overtime is for over 40 hours worked, not over 40 hours paid.

I have never ordered from Card Kingdom and wasn't aware of the recent drama but hopefully it gets resolved for the employees that are working hard during each release.

This is the time for LGS to step up and take the market back as I see it make everything more readily available and show the big company’s that magic isn’t just about the money

I want to reiterate something here: I felt that I needed to cover this because it's apparent that the larger channels, especially sponsored by CK do not have the ability to discuss this matter. I'm hopeful that we can see further communication from the company, but also statements from the LITERAL LARGEST KZread channels sponsored by CK. It's a sad day when employees are locked behind NDAs and the most important voices (those of the larger channels sponsored by CK) are in contract, unable to say anything. What are your thoughts on the current situation?

Ive ordered from CK almost 30 times so far (internationally) and theyve only messed up my order once and they always have good customer support and are very generous when it comes to fixing any delays with the orders

Cooper vision is the exact same way, two hours of overtime mandatory prior to shift and two hours overtime mandatory for after shift so an extra four hours on top of a 12 hour day. Oh and if you had a boss that wanted to have some huddle add at an extra half an hour onto your day

i have been in 2 unions and worked for Walmart which was anti-union. I feel the point you missed was a union is only as good as it's members. One union guaranteed you a job, however you just might have to relocated within 50 miles radius. Another union offered Gold Plan Health Care for $100/month but its pension was only $50/month after you work for them for 30 years. Walmart treats people expendable... Walmart has a 10% match on all employee stock bought and you can do 100% of your paycheck. This is 2-3 times what the most employers give for retirement matching. Nothing either side has said is surprising and neither side sounds unethical, just different.

Sucks when you see what's behind the curtain and it isn't good.. I've only ordered once from CK, as I get most all my singles from LGS's and TCGplayer. Hopefully, management at CK get their crap together.

Totally agree. I would never call for a company to shut down. I think we just want to see some progress and improvement in the working conditions for the employees.

I hope this story gets widespread coverage and that CK management makes substantive changes to better support their employees.

I used to order from card kingdom a lot and even sold them some cards and have great experiences all around. And as far as mandatory overtime goes, it is a part of the world. At my factory, we have to do 7 days a week sometimes and 12 hr shifts when required. It's part of the american way. Im not saying its right, but it is what it is. I also can not imagine that it requires much skill to work at a store that sells magic cards on the internet.

I thought this was gonna be the drama where they keep not listing serialized cards and high end singles so you have to buy from an employee out of a facebook group and then they create an order through your CK account -- but youre still not allowed to use the store credit you have built up and traded for to get cool things.... even though you're ordering through their site on an item its exempt from having credit used on it

I used to order from card kingdom but I don't live in the US and got dinged by customs on my last order (which cost wayyy to much) so I tried tcgplayer and it was cheaper and also the packages arrived faster. Sure they didn't arrive in one package but they all took less than two weeks where card kingdom always takes more than two weeks. Never ordering from card kingdom again and this video just solidifies my decision.

I been using Card Kingdom for 10 years and I can say that the past year plus has been the worst. Never have cards in stock , horrible shipping, etc. They were amazing before the covid era.

NDAs arent really enforceable when its used under duress or required to be hired, theu can get you if you say disclose secrets that are proprietary to the company or a product they make etc

I tried to order from them once but it was like someone stole my list, nothing I needed was in stock.

This sucks, I exclusively ordered from Card Kingdom, but I can't support the place anymore after seeing they've been doing the same bullshit that's ruining our country and economy.

Hopefully they can demonstrate that they are turning things around. Also, hopefully with some of the larger sponsors, if they are able to stand up against this, change may come sooner.

I ordered from CK once, it never arrived. They just closed my ticket without even refunding me.. They literally scammed me.

Shipping times are pathetic. If I can't get items from my LGS, I order from Star City.

Equitable labor laws are for citizens living in "more oppressive" countries I guess? Freedumb 😂😂

In the end there are 3 sides to every story. Card Kingdom's, the employees, and the truth.

Time will tell. Just hoping that the company takes this seriously and makes some quality of life improvements for the employees.

Poor workers. Im glad i dont buy from them ot id have to boycott it. Something msgic players dont do these days, they dont boycott anything. Weakest will power non stop feeding the greed nonster that is wizards

Mandatory overtime is just a part of life. As long as it’s not on a monthly basis I don’t see an issue. They need to be upfront about it though obviously. Having to use pto for sick days is also a standard thing. I’m salaried and it’s the same way for me. A lot of these complaints sound a bit out of touch.

Can we also discuss how empty and sad the displays and shelves are pertaining to MTG? The workers also need to look more professional. Hair is unkept and uniform is all wrinkled. This was not the case years ago.

I'm sure those poor guys that have to sort magic cards for a living are worked so hard. Those kids in the cobalt mines getting material for our batteries should consider themselves lucky that they don't have to work for such an oppressive force as card kingdom.....

I'm so gad someone said something. It's been awful this past year.
