    The fact is that the Sabres are farther behind most of the Atlantic division than they were 48 hours ago. Seems like Adams is banking on Tage, Tuch, and Cozens having career years again and is therefore content to futz with the fourth line rather than trying to find a difference-maker. Maybe he's right, maybe goals will come in abundance like they did two years ago, and maybe Lindy will be able to get this team to play a 60-minute game more often than not. Or, more likely, Adams will be fired at the end of the year and Terry will hire the assistant Zamboni driver as the new GM.

    @TippiGordon Nope. Sabres overnight redid their bottom 6. Added about 500 hits. Next season teams will be looking over their shoulders when they decide to mess with Tage, Cozens, Peterka, Quinn, Tuch & Benson. Buffalo added some serious meaness to their roster.

    Yes heavier and tougher additions with players who don't mind getting there noses dirty and battle for the puck. Now let's hope that style rubs off on the top end but am sure Lindy will protect the fragile younger players with responses from the bottom if need be. Was tired of watching our younger players taking cheap shots under Granato and he had no response and stood there frozen clueless.

    Much better off-season so far compared to last. To all the fans screaming gRiT aNd ToUgHnEsS the past several years, we have a legit checking line and a coach who will absolutely not stand for guys not sticking up for each other and working hard every shift. Anyone who thought we were going to be able to sign a star top 6 forward yesterday is delusional. You just like complaining. Get real. We do have talent, they need to stay healthy. And a stable in Rochester clawing their way here. We don't have to replace 30 goals from Jeff if we are more defensively sound overall. I love Jeff but dude is a defensive albatross. Am I upset over the last 13 years? Of course I am. And fans of course have legit reason to voice it. But a wise man once said "is only game, why you heff be mad?" LETS GO BUFFALO

  • @nfa80

    @nfa80

    6 күн бұрын

    Yep. Forwards who can play defensively and regularly forecheck but don't score 30+ goals per season may not be eye candy, but are often necessary for creating those scoring opportunities in the first place. I remember all that stuff that Mike Robitaille preached back in the day, and all of that is still correct. We have guys who can score goals already. They just need more support and a coach that will emphasize improving their ability to play both ends of the ice. Jeff Skinner could score goals, but was a defensive liability, and it's much harder to get a 30+ player in age to start playing a new way when he hasn't done that much before in his career. Thankfully he is a better fit for another team that already has those other things better established.

    Ya know I'm really sick of people saying "it's only a game". First off who are you to tell us how to feel about hockey? Second NO ONE TELLS players it's only a game when they sign ridiculous contracts. NO ONE SAYS it's only a game when owners want to use tax payer money to build arenas. BUT when a fan who spends tons of money on this stuff...on tickets, merchandise, cable to watch and more....we get told "it's just a game" when we get ticked off at the CONSTANT losing. And Adams has not done one logical thing to improve this team. We couldn't SCORE last year. We sucked at scoring. And we sign no one that can score. We are still screwed by the absolutely worst organization in the NHL.

    Our fans need to embrace everything Adams is saying here. This is a long term project that everyone will see will be worth it within the next few years. The only way the Sabres will probably ever win a cup is growing a young team exactly how Adams is now. We are only one day into free agency and these signings significantly improved our team. Our fans need to also stop looking at stats and offense one dimensionally. Keeping pucks out of our net alone will make up for the loss of Skinner. We also won’t win a cup scoring so many goals on the rush. Florida realized this and even Lindy himself said we have to change how we play offense. Our fans have a very unhealthy negativity bias and don’t see the positive groundwork that has been laid.

They added almost 500 hits to this roster (on 3 players) for the bottom 6. Buffalo has 3 defensemen who can score at least 40 goals (or more) combined next season. They added a winger who has scored 20+ goals 5xs & 2 other times got 14+ goals. Tage, Cozens, Peterka, Quinn & Tuch next season (if healthy) can score at least 150 goals combined. Ruff is a much better NHL HC than Granato. This team next season should be right in the thick of the playoff chase all season.
