"We must avoid conflict with China" | Is The British Military in Crisis?

The state of the Britain's armed forces has come under serious scrutiny after a series of embarrassing mishaps, raising concerns about whether they're in crisis.
Recent failures, such as the inability of the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales to set sail for a NATO exercise and the Trident nuclear missile misfire, have highlighted the challenges facing British forces.
To shed light on the situation, Defence Editor Jerome Starkey from The Sun is joined by experts Colonel Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, Major General Chip Chapman, and General Lord Richard Dannatt to discuss the state of the UK's armed forces.
Colonel Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, a former commander of the Royal Tank Regiment and chemical weapons expert, expresses his concerns about the adequacy of resources for the British Army. He emphasizes the growing threats facing the military, particularly from state-on-state conflicts and the need for a strong deterrent. Hamish points out that the current military capabilities are not suited for the challenges the country faces, especially in deterring adversaries like Russia and China.
Former Chief of the General Staff, General Lord Dannatt, provides historical context on defence spending and the importance of deterrence. Drawing parallels to the rise of Hitler in the 1930s, Lord Dannatt highlights the need for adequate resources to maintain a strong deterrent. He also reflects on his time leading the army during the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, noting the challenges of maintaining operations with limited resources.

Remember the story the frog who blew up his belly? Britain used to be the "global power" like the US today, fighting way above its weight looting everyone around the world, along the way got so much air in its body and self esteem. Even though after the puncture it degenerates back to its own self, the frog looks into the mirror still sees a big long shadow of itself that it thinks represents its importance in the world. So there's still a chance the frog loses its mind and croaks really loud. As a chinese, the only thing might be of interest for me to attack UK, may be to get back the relics still kept in the British Museum? Otherwise, err ... sorry nothing of value or threat to consider to justify any effort.

The history tells us that China was invaded and tortured by many countries for very long time . China has no intention to revenge but instead it always implements the policy of mutual respect , peaceful co-existence , mutual prosperity , etc. 4. The current world situation is so chaotic and in danger. Why should many countries just think of creating unrest? Do not forget that human life span is rather short. The difference between the 1930s and Hitler and now is that in the 1930s the UK was a great power economically providing about 11% of world GDP. Now it is around 3%. There is a core element in the UK which for their own reasons is entirely capable of ignoring such facts. THe UK is 28th in the ranking for per capita GDP PPP. Another fact. What these 'experts' fail to accept is that there is no desire for pointless war. Nato is 3rd rate and the UK is a tier 3 nation inside it. No successful missile test in over a decade. There were still special ops/black ops running around in africa, you'd just know they were there when body bags arrive in the US and they can't hide that soldiers died in this so and so country that nobody even knew they were there at all. the US was still offering millions for maduro's head that had mercenaries go and try to outseat him from his administration, the US explained the botched coup by saying it wasn't them and that it was just an enterprsing move by a former US special force member. Okaaaay. They were there in Ukraine for years training Ukraine soldiers to fight Russia. They were there in taiwan arming and training them too. Trump also ordered bombings on 7 middle east and african nations like his predecessors who ordered the bombings under the "War On Terror". Admittedly, Trumps did not come close to the Obama who had dropped 26,172 bombs in seven countries just in his last year alone, the year he received the Nobel Prize for peace, lol. Anyway, Trump was still part of the long-lasting way of agression by the US. Ex-president Carter said the US is the most war-like nation in all history and starting from the birth of the nation, it only enjoyed 4 years of complete peace in all that 250 (thereabouts) years of existence, and no it isn't Trumps term, lol.

Military families in the UK depend on the NHS so having dental issues will be the same challenge as everyone else. The serving member will have access to Military Dentists and DRs. A lot of the housing stock is old and not well maintained and has similar issues to civilian market rental accommodation (mould etc). It is still heavily subsidised however this is also becoming more expensive and will be in line with the civilian sector soon enough. These issues coupled with non competitive pay are causing some to look elsewhere (certainly not leaving in droves). If the recruitment timeline was shortened the churn would be more sustainable.

It is an absolute disgrace that our servicemen have to put up with inferior accommodation whilst an enormous amount of money is spent on housing illegal immigrants from alien countries to whom we owe nothing. Essential that recruitment is brought back in-house, they have the knowledge of priorities which are required of servicemen.
