The 800-gallon aquarium has finally been moved, opening up more entertainment space in the other room. Cory is thinking of putting clown loaches and Congo tetras in it, but first the scratches in the acrylic need to get professionally buffed. He's also been busy testing a new micro krill pellet and bleaching some of the tanks to remove algae and excess java moss. Cory definitely has plans to get more fish though, so what do you think he'll get next?

I really like the suspension on that tiny pellet! It looks better than Xtreme Nano, which I feed partially because it stays in the water column longer. If you get it to market, I will happily try it out! 😊 Glad you're getting to work from your fish room now! Its nice to just be in there and get to do little things when you have a couple minutes. Enjoy picking out your new fish!

Might I suggest adding a vibration sensor to your 'testing' tools? I recently realized that the reason most of my fish were hiding in a couple fo my tanks were the vibrations from some of my equipment on the tank walls creating quite a 'noisy' interior fo the tank and seemed to be stressing my fish out.

Blackbeard algae are controlled by water changes. I do 50% once a week, and no less than 50% twice a month. High concentrations of Nitrates (N03) encourage blackboard algae to grow. Keep feeding to optimal levels. If one overfeeds and food is left on the bottom remove it. Maintain lighting to six hours per day. Only have tank lights on when the tank owner is around.

I think attaching plants to a big piece of driftwood or rock/faux rock is fantastic because it saves me time in upkeep sometimes. Sometimes I end up with algae or moss is getting pesty ans it is so nice to be able to just lift the whole mess out, set it on a table, address the issue and then plonk it straight back into the tank. No muss no fuss. I understand that doesn’t work for every planting style but when I am prioritizing easy keeping it works pretty well. Makes trimming plants easy too. Of course not all plants like to be glued to hardscape. You do have to pick and choose there. Still, not all your tanks need to be planted substrate. It might be worth it to do a few easy keepers.

@07:58 I discovered our local water supply hasn't been properly maintained.... because my established tanks started growing algae after a water top off last year... right after a major storm. Sent my tap water off to be analyzed, and in addition to already being hard ... They found uranium, selenium, and ridiculously high levels of phosphates in the tap water, which "tests within industry standards" at the water treatment plant. Pretty sure the only reason my shrimp colonies didn't crash is I no longer do water changes (I only top off) and I don't let the tanks evaporate much anymore. It's taken me 7 months to get the algae back under control (string, blackbeard, and staghorn), mostly by hand removal and buying amano shrimp to join my P paludosus in my NANF tank. There's debate that Amano can breed if the water is hard enough, albeit with very low viability rates. Guess I'll find out, as I only bought 4 (2berried F + 1 male) amanos, and now appear to have 6 (3F + 3M). Unless I got some hitchhikers on some plants?

I get that the fish room is never where we want it, but I honestly dont understand what guys like you and DIY Joe are doing with the constant complete overhauls. Just out of curiosity, what iteration are you up to now? This is at least number 4, yes? Is it because you get bored with what you have so fast, or is it so you always have fresh new content? For the record, I am not great at wording this sort of stuff, so I don't want you to think I'm complaining or criticizing what you're doing. I'm just genuinely curious as to why (which you have probably expalined in past videos and I just missed) you feel the need/push/desire to go through this so often.

I think it's a bit of all you have mentioned. For me as I've explained in previous videos it's mostly about time available. I have less time available for maintenance than I did 10-11 years ago when I started the channel. These are the phases I feel I've gone through: Fish room as a hobby Fish room as a hobby and youtube under 50k subs Fish room as a hobby, youtube, and importing fish for the retail store. Fish room as youtube, importing fish to sell goldfish online as another business. Fishroom just for youtube in the 200k-500k phase. Fishroom at my new house, the urban fish farm. Breed my favorite fish to supply the store. Fishroom without the urban fish farm as it prevents any traveling. Fish room for youtube again, and product development. Current fish room is for me. Setup a desk in my fish room, moved the 800g gallon into it. There is a corner for videos to be filmed and I'm down to 10 aquariums. Videos about change typically get more audience to watch and people see the big changes, they don't see the 50+ other videos that year with no big changes. That's 7 different fish room versions in 12 years. Changing it up when moving is natural. Changing some things up because you're bored is natural. Changing some things up because you've got a better idea is natural. I think if I wasn't working on products, and didn't have to be on youtube, I'd probably have 3-4 aquariums.

@AquariumCoop I just find it fascinating. So, 7 major shifts in 12 years is pretty amazing, but this is the 3rd just since moving to the new place. That's so much work, not to mention a ton of money, although I guess I did just mention it. I hear ya on the idea of, if not for all the outside factors, you'd only have 3 or 4 tanks, too. That's all I had for most of my life. It wasn't until the last 5 years or so that it has grown to 9 tanks and 2 hospital/quarantine tanks. There are times with that where I feel overwhelmed. I don't know how people do it when they have 20, 40... sometimes 80 ...aquariums to take care of. For me, that many tanks would suck all the enjoyment right out of the hobby. But then, you do (at least in part) use the fish room to earn a living. My KZread presence is far too small. I don't feel the pressure to change things up to keep an audience engaged. Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. I know how extremely busy you are. You're a good man, Cory. I don't care what Bob Steenfott says! 🤣🤣🤣

That's my biggest issue with the Api caps, it's extremely hard to see that the liquid is in fact at the line, also since the lines are the same color, they too are difficult to see. Just curious, I know you really try to make things better so I am hoping

I would be careful with 3d print in there unless you have the bambu lab x1c with ams or something similar. I am sure you are already aware that humidity and filament do not play well together.

If I was you, I'd keep the testing wall of tanks, I think you will miss them as you go forward with testing your products.

Ive thought about getting back into 3d printing but im worried about the fumes the filament gives off as it prints. That it may harm my fish. Anyone have any experience?

You've probably talked about it before, but why not keep the pothos in a tank?

Mostly cause I get tired of the look. The roots get so long, and after a couple years are 70% of the tank space, and you can only keep select fish with it so they don't eat on it.
