Samurai themed orks would definitely lean hard into how Samurai are represented in popular media too. I could see a Bushi Boi challenge a space marine to single combat, draw his choptana slowly, then cut the marine in half in one swift motion.

In a D&D setting, I could see a half orc that was trying to reject the more crass elements of his parentage become a samurai. Still able to feed that warrior side but also embrace the high society aesthetic he also craves. I'm probably gonna make an NPC like that for my campaign now that it's been suggested. That sounds kinda awesome.

I really like this, because orks are supposed to look different. Sure they have instinct to make certain stuff, but they have to use what’s on the planet the sprout on. It’s still a choppa no matter if it’s a knife taken from a space marine or a sword taken from a samurai

Okay, now I wanna see a Samurai-inspired Space Marine chapter that basically represents the opposite side of the Samurai spectrum, centered on honor, duty and following a code. Maybe a White Scars successor chapter that combines the "hit-and-run" tactics of their Founders, with a more honor-based code of conduct inspired by the Ultramarines. The combination would do well to represent how the Samurai started out as Cavalry units (mobile combat) before becoming a more administration-focused group.

If your looking for samurai inspired astartes a maker who goes by the name of Marco paroli creates some amazing conversions. Check his stuff out because they look amazing and if you interested I think he also has links for the conversion parts as well

Really makes me think of these boys as closer to the Blood Axes than any other Ork clan, given how much they actually took inspiration from and respect a human culture to integrate it into their kulture and fighting styles

I kinda wanna see "Asian hammer 40k" now. or at least the Eldar and Necrons getting in on this to have a nice set of a related themes.. I know you mentioned the Jiangshi for one of the Orks as an inspiration for the unit, but a mixture of themes for them and the terracotta army for the necrons would be a nice touch.

*maniacal Waaaagh laughter LETZ GO YA GITZ!!! Also, I think it would like to see a battle banner for Orka Nobudakka with a klan mark and/or his name in ork glyphs. Also, I'll have to look into getting some when I get paid soon; money (or lack there of) is my only weakness!

One of my favorite history KZreadrs turned into my favorite Ork KZreadrs. So inspiring.

One of the major characters I play in tabletop games is a Orc or Half-Orc whos inspired by Sanjuro from Yojimbo.

How have I never heard of "orka nobudaka" I love the idea of that

See, now I wonder how the Space Marines would deal with finding stuff like samurai relics. I'm working on a Imperial Fists homebrew chapter that basically found a modern-day-ish military manual or something. Which is to say, they use camo and tanks more than infantry. They don't fully grasp the purpose of camo (though Space Marines can stealth), they also don't mark sergeants or lieutenants with special helmets. The tanks are more there because I like tanks and want an excuse to get the Fellblade.

Puppetswar miniatures has had bushi orcs for years, ninjas even. It's good to have variety.

I haven't played in ages but I like homebrewing for fun... I was working on my marine chapter when I goofed around 2 ork mob ideas... a Cult of speed thats Fast Furious themed... and samurai... and slowly samurai overpowered the power of Da family... Then I began to brew my boyz... Da Rising Dakka (work on progress) then found your videos... G.G. love what you got so far. I need to brush up on ork lore as i doubt an idea i have for my leader Da Sho-Grot could work if not i have Da Oni. But a unit or 2 I'm not sure if plausible historically: Ninjas - if orks have scouts or something akin to it. Could be ork or small guys they have maybe grots Gliders as flying units. I look forward to seeing more of the Rising Sun Mob. My boyz would happily fight along side em.

4:55 Reminder that European nobility (largely emerged from knights and their descendants, and styling themselves "protector of the common people") kept Europe in pretty much a constant state of war _for an entire millennium._ They could barely keep it in their pants for a decade at a time. Gotta be honest, most of the parallels can be applied to most warrior classes throughout history: If their entire self-image is based around combat, they'll see that as the main solution to everything, even in peace times. An elite warrior who turns tail and runs the moment they see their life in danger can hardly claim that title. And if your warrior status comes with prestige and social standing, you'll want to indoctrinate your kids into it as soon as possible so they carry on the legacy and improves their family's position.

Dear lord, the life of a Samurai is... well, not just Orks, but Space Marines and by extension, Chaos Space Marines. Complete with being designed to fight a big emergent threat, but as soon as the Emperor left, civil war! Several times, see Skalathrax and the Badab War!

I wouldn't say orks don't fear death per se, more like they just think themselves better than the enemy. Or are having too much fun to care, lmao. But I'm sure we've had orks running away and afraid to die on some occasions (dawn of war and space marine at least) Either way, they certainly DON'T back down from a fight. Nuffin' like a good fight!

Gabled - Gay-bled, as in pronouncing abled. I love those designs and absolutely want to use those war wagons/houses/tankfor a diorama I want to make of a wasteland caravan.

Something I wanna add to how fitting this is, is how gunpowder was invented in the first place. Long story short, gunpowder was invented by chinese alchemist who was trying to make the Elixir of Life. In a massive heap of irony, he instead made one of the deadliest inventions known to man. You've said before that Orks like to try and try again until they stumble upon something something great. Well, that sounds a lot like how gunpowder came to be. Sure it's not Japan specifically, but it's still Asian. Not to mention things have sort of floated around between the two before, so I can see it making sense.

I love that Weird Boy, as I just love the Weird Boyz, Mech Boyz, and Pain Boyz. Why? Cuz those tha Boyz dat love ta create as much as theyz lov ta Krump!

I love the ork videos as well! But it makes me wonder, have you ever looked into the warcraft orc clans? They are basically a copy of the warhammer orcs (since warcraft 1 was originally intended to be a warhammer game), but they also have the burning blade clan which took a lot of eastern influences wilding katanas and sashimono banners as well.
