Just saw him 7/24 in Laughlin, NV...playrd two and a half hours, out of the hundreds of concerts, this was easily one of my top ten...wish I had been seeing him all along...fantastic voice, even at 76, great guitarist, and killer band. Very deep intricate lyrics...a musical genius! God he was just stellar! Very high energy..he was all over the stage...blown away..my wife was as well!

This was such a "coming of age" song for me back in 1972.I still love TODD!!!! I got to meet him and talk with him a bit in Boulder Colorado 2 years ago. He's quite simply a Genius- but he also has a great sense of humor. He's been through so much... A Giant of a man.

Todd wrote this along with singing most of the vocals and playing all of the instruments. Oh, and the little girl in the pictures was his step - daughter actress Liv Tyler who he raised as a single dad for a number of years. She met her "natural" dad as a teenager (if Steven Tyler can be considered "natural")

“Oh, Todd.” ❤️ (sigh) That’s been my best friend and my automatic reaction when we hear a song by Todd. We bought the double album Something/Anything when we were seniors in high school and crushed madly on Todd Rundgren. Seen him in concert several times. Todd was always evolving into another realm of music - A great musician and a wonderful singer. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, but did not attend. It was a matter of principle for him. “Oh, Todd.” ❤️

Don’t know if anyone else commented, but the little girl/youngster with Todd is Liv Tyler…..who was in Armageddon, 3 Lord of the Rings, etc. Todd was in a long term relationship with Liv’s mother (Bebe Buell)…..when Bebe had a short fling with Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) & became pregnant. Because of Steven’s wild lifestyle in 1977, when Liv was born they gave her Todd’s last name & decided to raise her believing that Todd was her real father. Liv didn’t find out that her biological father was Steven until about age 10 while attending an Aerosmith concert with her mom…..& realized that his other daughter Mia who was there, looked exactly like her! Years later, she changed her last name to Tyler, but kept Rundgren as a middle name. She’s remained very close to both dads since!

    2 жыл бұрын

@@heardjenniefromtheblock To be clear, you said: "Todd played every instruments in this song". Those were your exact words and they were incorrect. He didn't play every instrument in the studio version OR the live version (I assume you are referring to his famous performance on The Midnight Special). Just like on the studio version, he sings and plays piano. The organ, drums, bass, guitar, trumpet, saxophone, and backing vocals were still played by other people. Like, seriously, how do you think he's making trumpet, organ, backing vox, and guitar sounds with nothing but a baby grand piano in a live setting, LOL? He only has two hands and one mouth (sounds like an early viral video) and this was a decade before digital polyphonic synthesizers, programmable drum machines, or live MIDI-sequencing was an option. The announcer even says that he is playing to the prerecorded backing track. That said, he *IS* famous for playing most of the instruments on several other records, including many songs on that same album. In fact, apart from "Hello..." and seven other songs from the double album Sometimes/Always, he did "play every instrument" on the remaining 17 tracks. Just not on "Hello, It's Me". I'm sorry if that bums you out or whatever, but if you have access to KZread, then you have access to Google. It's wise to look up things you've "always heard" before posting them as facts. Obviously, it's not a big deal or anything, but you seem like a fan. And if you have spent the last 50 years thinking that Todd Rundgren was playing the saxophone or singing female backing vox on "Hello, It's Me" then it's probably time you learned the truth. I'm not sure what purpose you think is served by digging in your heels at this point. Just appreciate that a myth has been debunked and move on. OR... feel free to cling to alternate facts if it makes you feel better.

Hi Shawn and Mel so sorry to hear you were so sick. Please take good care of yourself and take the time to fully recuperate. Sounds like you have been through a lot. You are real troupers. In the 70's there was a who genre of these cool vibe songs like Todd Rundgren and Ambrosia. They just take me back to summer nights when I was a teenager, chilling and listening to my stereo in the dark with a cool breeze blowing in the window. I always associate that feeling with these songs. Here are a few more I would put into that category that I would love to hear and think you would also like: 1. "In the Heart of the Night" by Poco a song about New Orleans and Lake Ponchetrain. My husbands most favorite song. 2. "I Really Want to See You Tonight" by England Dan and John Ford Coley. 4.. "You Are the Woman" by Firefall. 5. "Dance With Me" by Orleans. I hope the list gives you some ideas. Its really cool that you are asking for suggestions, it makes us feel like we like we can share with you in the same way you give to us. Get better soon! :)
