it’s so great that the bookkeeping course has given you some extra income! (at least i’m assuming that’s what got you a decent raise!)

I wasn’t able to afford the bookkeeping course, so I have been trying make do with Coursera and KZread, thank you for the idea of bookkeeping though. I am struggling with learning it, but I definitely want to try it!

Hi Marissa, congrats on raises. Can you do a video on how you budget for your business, actual amounts of course not required. The funds you don’t pay yourself, does it sit in an account and is it apart of your net worth. I am trying to understand how it works. Hope I was clear . Thanks again, keep up the great work.

Yeah I’d be interested to see this too. I’m running my own small bookkeeping business and looking to branch into a new area so would be great to see how you manage various streams of income

Congrats on the raises! 🎉 Why don’t you begin saving for next year’s HOA fees in a sinking fund?

March was a banner month for us. We helped my nephew pay off his student loan and contributed an extra $400 to my son’s brokerage account. Now in April we got 6k tax return and already have a $700 extra from last month. So we will start to invest in our daughter’s brokerage account t.

Hello Marissa, thank you for the very informative content that you put out. Just have a quick question about credit card balances when my wife and I are trying to build our credit. Should we payoff the whole balance every month? Or should we leave around 10%? Just wanted your take on it and the fastest way to build credit. Keep up the great work!!!

How do you manage your credit card payments in conjunction with the budget? Do you pay as you spend in the credit card? Or watch your spendings and pay at the end of the month? How do you monitor not going over your budget since you use a cc

Marissa, sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, we’re from Brazil moving to the US and still trying to understand how to organize our finances here. Do you have different savings accounts for each of those categories?? I mean, in the bank, do you separate everything or is it just one savings account in the bank but separated on your spreadsheet? Thank you!!!

Hi! Your property insurance is only $780 a year? Did you get an extremely good deal or are you light on your coverage? We're at ~$2000 for a similarly valued home.

Hi Marissa, can you talk about how and why your homeowner taxes and insurance is not apart of escrow? Is that an AZ thing or some other reason. I'm interested to learn how and why you did this?

  • @TheBudgetingWife

Hi! If you put more than 20% down then you don’t need to go through Escrow. I prefer not to so that we could keep the cash in our savings and earn interest on it rather than paying escrow to hold onto it and pay it for us. But since we’re not going through escrow, it’s a line item in our budget that takes priority!

How high do you think your mortgage will increase from taxes after adjusting from the new build in a year or two? I’ve hear they go up from the land improvement increase.

Where I live property taxes literally go up by THOUSANDS! I know someone too that bought something that was a flip. And the property taxes they were told were from when the house was in a dilapidated state. The next year after reassessment it went up by 3,000. I live in NJ though and we have some of the highest property taxes around

Hey Marissa, I noticed you didn't mention your HSA, are you guys still saving for this? If you stopped, do you mind telling us why? I started saving because I saw you guys doing it but definitely would love to know if it's not such a good idea anymore!

Isn’t that the 533 in medical?

  • @TheBudgetingWife

We still are maxing out the HSA from my husband’s paycheck! The $533 each month is what we’re setting aside for medical expenses to use instead of our HSA and we’re investing the dollars in our HSA! We LOVE the triple tax advantage of the HSA and are investing those dollars rather than spending them right now. But saving all our medical receipts if we ever do decide to pull those funds.

I think sometimes as KZreadrs you guys become tone deaf to what is happening in the rest of the world. My husband is an engineer and I'm a physician so I'm not jealous if that's what someone would assume by my first sentence. But your titles come off very haughty. Most of the country is struggling. It's ok to not shout from the rooftop every single month about how much money you have. It's so classless. People have real issues out here and lots of people are barely making it. A simple "Budget with Me" title is ok. You would have way more subscribers if you weren't so obnoxious. It's great that your family is doing well, but a little more self-awareness is definitely needed. For everyone out there struggling, hang in there. My heart is definitely with you.
