WE GOT HIT BY A HURRICANE IN IOWA ??? || Iowa 2020 Derecho

100 MPH straight line winds, rain, and lots of damage made its way through Iowa on August 10, 2020. My family suffered the loss of many buildings, grain bins, and other structures. Fortunately for Jay and I, we did not have any damage to our house. We are safe and without electricity but are glad that we are safe.
Thanks for being patient with me as I was unable to post last week! Please keep Iowa in your prayers as some families suffered much more damage than we did.

You are at a very good age to weather any storm in life. That's a blessing. When I was a kid, we didn't even have a fan. We just suffered through it. I'm sure now you can relate. With the threat of an EMP attack, plan now what you must do to survive.

Its a blessing no one was hurt. Been through tornadoes and hurricanes but had never heard of a Derecho. I can not believe the power of those storms. My neighbor and his brother left last week from GA to go help their family that still live in Iowa. No injuries, but like yourselves, lots of damage. Praying your power gets back on soon and that your family gets everything sorted quickly.

Here in Arkansas back in april we had straight line winds that absolutely destroyed the powerlines. Being without power for a week was definitely a struggle. They kept telling us we would get it back so we didnt panic buy a generator and looking back at the amount of food we had to replace... we should have just bit it and bought one. Hundreds of dollars of food. Thankfully it was cooler outside and not mid summer. However having my babies wake up telling me they were cold was something else. It was definitely eye opening to not have electricity. Taking for granted being able to see when you walk through the house at night. Fans. Hot water. Being able to cook. Even local stores had to throw out food. Its crazy how much electricity impacts your life.

Here in Alabama we are no strangers to power outages or storm damage. We've been without power for 14 days in absolute deadly cold with ice being the culprit and just as many days during sweltering heat due to tornadoes. It's then that you can find the strength to recover and help others recover. Hope you get power soon and recovery won't last too long! Thanks for sharing your story with us!! Ice Storm of 94' .... Our son was 4 months old and over a week without power. We had gas heat but most of our families didn't. Everyone began bringing mattress tops and board games along with frozen food that my Husband and Brother cooked as needed. Heck most of it stayed frozen in the cooler outside. 18 people (4 mth - 74 yrs) sometimes more inside our tiny 1000 sq ft double wide lol.

Very glad you and your extended families are safe. Heard about the storms coming through your area here in GA and instantly thought and prayed for all of you. Crazy how you care for people you've never met except online. May your power come back on soon. Sending blessings to all I know how devastating it can be. Years ago we had server storms here and a 5ft around oak tree went through our home at 3am. God is good and my family was not hurt but the loss of power and displaced family and things can be hard to bear.

Continued prayers for all of you that were in in the path of that storm. It was terrible and I am glad you were in a safe place. As I have said to Cole and Nava, you guys take care of yourselves. As much as we enjoy all of your videos you all need time to process this and do what needs to be done for you, your families, your homes and farms so if it take a while to get a video out we understand. The main thing is take care of what needs done first. We love all of you, stay safe

I understand and feel your pain from that strange storm, I live in Florida. (A few years ago one of those Derechos hit in Ohio) I went through Hurricane Charlie in my walk in closet of over 100 mph winds. It was devastation in the morning ,no power for a week. Cold showers and no air not fun. It makes you appreciate it even more. Humidity was through the roof, sleeping was near impossible. I should have slept in the shower lol. All that wood would have made great firewood for the winter time. Glad you and your home wasn't damaged, neither was mine then.

Thank goodness your home was spared. But, the tree damage was great. I hope you didn't lose the cherry tree. I just went through the same experience of living with no power or internet down here in South Texas. Isaac was more of a hurricane than expected for us. We too got a generator but could not find a whole house adaptor for it. But we were able to use the power for the refrigerator and fan and lights for a few days. Those generators are so loud. Made it hard to sleep. Many days of no sleep made this girl very grumpy. Hope you replant some grand oak trees that will shade the house in years to come. You all were so lucky no one was hurt. Continue on.

Sorry for your hardships due to the storm, hang in there! Our community was hit by a derecho in 2008 so I can totally relate. We had no electricity for 5 days, for some it was nearly two weeks. We drove a few hours to my parents house and borrowed their generator. The loss of trees was unreal, probably lost 25/30% of the trees in our town. Piles of limbs and branches lined the sides of the roads up to five feet high afterwards waiting for city crews to collect. Roof damage also widespread, it took a year or so for all the damage to be repaired.

When we had a bad tornado in xenia, ohio, where we live, several years ago, we were without power for 8-10 days. Thankfully, my husband had prepared for outages and had a generator tied into our home electrical panel. We couldn't run everything, but we could take hot showers and have a few lights in the evening. We had a continuous fire going outside to burn debris, so we made it fun by roasting hot dogs and having Smores! A gas grill helps a lot in those times as well! Praying you get electric soon and your family is able to repair/rebuild quickly. Thanks to God for watching over you all.

Wow what a mess. That happened to us in 2000. Macro burst winds over 100 mph. Took every tree down in yard. Just started over and now they are big. Great video 👍👍

I live in Northern Illinois, and that same storm came through here. We did not get the destruction that you did, because the winds were not quite as strong as they were in Iowa. I was driving home from a doctor's appointment with my son, and it was REALLY scary! Tree limbs were flying into the road in front of me. Mother Nature can be really terrifying, sometimes. I'm so sorry you're still without power. I cannot even IMAGINE how hard that must be. I hope it's restored really soon. Sending prayers to all of you in Iowa!
