We got called out...

DMS was one of our biggest haters after we launched the Ear (1), so we reached out to see how he could help us for our latest product, the Ear (2). In this video, Nothing CEO, Carl Pei, sits down with DMS to discuss what went wrong, and how we worked together to fix it this time around.

I moved from iPhone 11 Pro Max with AirPods Pro 2nd Gen (almost 4 years used) to Nothing Phone (2) with Nothing Ear (2). Before I purchased NE2, I used APP2 with NP2 and I loved having AirPods support that allowed me to check the battery status on both buds and case. After I purchased NE2 and compared it with APP2, I loved NE2's sound quality more than APP2 because APP2 lacks bass. But when it comes to ANC, APP2 still hold the crown. Usually, I'm using simple EQ with Balance. But, when I tried D-tune EQ from the video, I noticed the volume. I need to volume up more than the usual volume I used with Simple EQ, but worth it. It gives me what I want. Thanks, DMS for the tune and Nothing Teams for the phone and earbuds. I'm looking forward to your next product! Side note: I hope Nothing teams can fix audio issues on NP2 after launching Nothing OS 2 on NP1. I rarely use speakers except for notifications and ringtones because I use Bluetooth Audio. 😆

The only small problem that I have is that sometimes when I take them out of the case only one connect with the phone and I have to put the other in and out off the case again to connect . So I can certainly say that my experience with them is very positive and that they are very well built because they have fallen many times and they are still working perfect. So i cant understand why many people give them bad reviews I understand that they can be better in so many ways but it is a very good product . There are no good smartphones of this size on the market. Androids are mostly huge, and a lot of people I talk to or read comments in my country would like to have such a phone. Only apple and samsung have good smartphones of this size (I don't like asus smartphones), and google pixel drops out because of exynos. Still wondering whether to buy nothing 2. If it was 6'2 it would already be in my pocket. I don't know if he will read this but it's worth a try. two phones a year, one smaller 6'1/6'2 which would be top 3 in the world for that size and a bigger one for people who are 10 meters tall. If there are so few smartphones of smaller sizes on the market, you can get more noticed if you make a good phone of this size

I switched to Nothing Ear (2) from Enco X (Dynaudio). I think Ear (2) has almost caught up with top tier earbuds inspite of being a new brand. The first area where Ear 2 lags behind Enco X by a really small margin is sound quality. I would like to stress that Enco X and X2 are legit class in terms of sound quality and coming close to it already means a lot. Besides , the aesthetic of Ear 2 more than makes up for that small gap. I also felt that Enco X was just a little more comfortable, comparatively. However, comfort varies from person to person because we have slightly different ear canal anatomy. Again, please note that the general consensus in reviews is that the Ear (2) is one of the most comfortable earbuds. It's not false because these are already very comfortable for me too. Then you have got personalized sound, Equalizer adjustments etc. in Ear (2) which make up for this shortcoming. Please note these earbuds have an average battery backup which quickly falls below average when you switch on dual device connectivity in Ear 2. Fully charged Ear 2 last 2 hrs in Zoom meeting with ANC and dual device connectivity switched on. Then I have to put the buds in case.

Pure respect to the Nothing guys. I am not in need of a TWS right now but this attitude puts my mind in a place where next time I will seriously consider the Ear 2. In the meantime, I should check their Nothing Phone 2 in person...

That's an awesome video, I'm glad you got to take some feedback from the audiophile community ! You will remember that Humility and willingness to take corrections over your mistakes is what build peoples trust. It pays way more than any marketing fluff that try to create artificial hype or plays on peoples stupidity. For your decision to reach out I'll give you double thumbs up. When brands treat their customers like a dear friend they get to build the asset of Honorable Reputation (something scummy peoples will never achieve). It's OK to make mistakes when designing stuff but by all means avoid doing it on purpose other wise you will be wasting time and resources. Ruining a good design is so easy in audio specially where variation in tuning or fit can brake a product.

Kudos to Nothing to invite and get feedbacks. Kudos also to DMS for wiling to follow up on his review and give honest feedback. Not sure if Nothing would have done this if they were not a start up company? Approach/ego would be completely different if it were any other earbuds company IMO. I'm interested but what does this review really say? similar to standard hearing levels but different (Nothing). I am going to check out more reviews of NOthing earbuds 2. Overall, I enjoyed this interaction and approach of NOthing to make their product better.

The biggest issue I have with the ear 1 is not the sound quality, that's alright with the use of poweramp eq, but the fact that they at occasions drop connection, change anc modes by themselves, anc works on just one side and the other earphone is unresponsive, sometimes just one connects... it's really what put me off of buying the ear 2 and looking elsewhere for next earphones

But after seeing the phone 2 i was very interested and now after seeing these video's i can see myself getting these phones as my 2nd phone for a long time. I love how you are dealing with feedback and are for innovation unlike Apple. It would be great if you could implement a screen without a punch hole. I know many people who don't mind them but it's still an obstruction to the viewing experience.

I own an Ear2. I enjoy the sound quality but I don't think the ANC is good enough. I can hear everything outside when in ANC mode. Another issue is the battery draining too fast when ANC is on. It lasts only 2/3 hours with ANC on. I experienced, in the first place, with ANC mode, it didn't last even 3 hours. My online class took 3 hours but the Ear3's battery ran out before class finished. I hope you can develop the next generation.
