I happen to have a CT-90 motor sitting on a shelf in my garage. No carb or exhaust, and missing a few trim pieces, but it wasn't locked up when I put it there 20 years ago. You can have it for free if you pay the shipping. It should give you the parts you need to put the engine together.

I'm 63 so I can give you a little history on the CT 90 and why it didn't do so well as far as being accepted . Honda was making leaps and bounds in their smaller bikes in those days . The very early Honda 60's were almost a moped with plastic fenders , horrible shocks and wire wheels . Then came the Mini Trail 50's with their mag like rims and fat little tires . They had adjustable seats ( great idea ) and they could carry an adult . This was a full on WINNER and my cousin had one . This was our learner bike and all four of us put it through hell ! It was made tough , just fast enough , had an automatic clutch and would ride for hours on that little bitty tank . Then came the 70 and was bigger faster but still had the fat tires and still had the tough little rims .I'm telling you the things were indestructable ! When the 90 came out with it's bigger frame and a motor that couldn't fill it up . wire wheels that made it look wimpy , slimmer tires it just didn't look like it could take the punishment the 50 and 70 took . So Honda came out with the XR 75 and it was A WINNER ! It had a regular looking engine , a clutch , a motocross look and it just felt faster . Honda wisely adapted it's colors to their CR motocross line and if you didn't know hired Jeff Ward ( the flying freckle ) to race one professionally ! Jeff Ward became our instant hero . First off he could ride like no kid you've ever seen and was unbeatable and in the original " On Any Sunday " movie wheelied his Mini Trail 50 for what seemed like a mile . Honda was brilliant with their Mini Bike development that earned them Major Bucks . Every kid in America was saving their paper route money for a Honda Mini trail or an XR 75 ! The Honda 90 Mini should have been built like an XR 75 and they would of flew out of the stores ! The XR 75 and Mini Trails had the other brands scrambling to catch up ... The Suzuki Grasshoper had a dumb name and looked weird . The little Yamaha's tried but failed then became part of the Motocross MX's and DT's and did great . Kawasaki missed that boat completely so badly the KX didn't come out with motocross bikes until nearly 1978 . Kawasaki wanted the street bike money . Didn't mean to talk your leg off but I saw it all develop and I thought you might find it interesting . There's even more to the story but I didn't want to write a book . PK

I had a trail 70 as a kid in the early 90s and I stopped riding it cuz everyone else had 125s and it wasn’t cool anymore. Adult in my 40s with tons of toys and all I want is that trail 70 back.

Throw a knobby or two at that thing- makes a world of difference. I have a Z50A w/a Chinese 4-speed on it w/a 16 or 17 tooth front sprocket and a boat trailer tire on the back. But once those leaves come down, the knobbies go on. Just no grip in the woods/trails. I'm almost 60 and falling hurts! Love your channel and content, keep up those great videos.

Just a suggestion, but since you more than likely have a zero turn lawn mower out there, run it over the course before making a lap with all the leaves and tall grass. You can go slow and raise the deck a step or 2 in the leaves and it will work as a leave mulcher and blower.

Thanks C&C, these CT's being back memories! My buddy and I found a couple old broken down ct50s at his grandpa's. He said they'd never start, so 15yo me gets em both running and brakes working on one and barely the other. We 'borrowed' em and somehow made it from our outskirt of town to my place, then to another buddy's. I'll never forget pulling up to his house and my dad was already there... just standing at the back of the truck with his arms crossed... Yeah got our asses whooped and I don't remember what all my dad yelled but we had both burnt the hell off our legs in shorts on that damn exhaust. Still have that scar. RIP Chris

My family actually inherited a 1969 Honda ST-90 when I was a kid in the mid 80's that had belonged originally to my great grandfather. I grew up riding it around in the field behind my house. Unfortunately, in the 90's my dad randomly decided to sell it to my uncle because it was taking up space in his garage. Ours was the bright green and in almost perfect condition when he sold it. I knew then he made a massive mistake and that it would eventually be worth a lot of money to collectors in the future.

Nice score finding an st90! They really don’t get built as often as the ct70’s and z50’s do and I think a lot of that has to do with the different motor mounts, leaving motor swaps options limited without adapters like you made. They are really a unique parts bin engineered bike. Stamped monocoque frame from the ct70, suspension and wheels from the sl70 and the engine from the ct90 minus the dual range gearbox.

Having the hand controls in line with or behind the axis of the front forks will MASSIVELY help stability and turning feel. Every real motorcycle does that, I am honestly amazed vertical bars are a thing on minibikes, its so squirrely. Awesome build and video as usual, Ike is a trooper and that 212 is an absolute beast

Hey, you can fix that swiss cheese by blocking the holes on the outside with a thin layer of fuel tank putty and then use "POR16" on the inside to coat it generously. Once the coatings dry then remove the fuel tank putty from the outside and put the frame together and enjoy.

The motor mount pattern is a little different on the CT/ST 89/110cc than the 49/72cc engines. Actually there's quite a bit of difference between the two engine families, almost nothing is interchangeable between them.

You could get a new sleeve pressed into your 90cc jug. Any reputable engine machine shop could do it, for a price. Cast iron sleeves come in most metric, and imperial sizes, and, you'd just have to bore out the cracked sleeve, cut the replacement to length, press it in, check deck height to make sure the sleeve is level with the fire deck, and hone it, to fit the piston. It IS a viable option, if a replacement can't be found. I've worked for companies that would do ALL the work, and hand you a good as new part, ready to be bolted on. You guys will be entering true builder territory, good luck, hope this helps.

Build a moiorized leafblower and put it on a kart. Maybe a snowplow for the winter.

Another cool build boys. Not a bad idea to use some pit bike engines at times. Love the work and keep it up 💪😎👍

I was a honda kid back in the 80s an 90s that rode alot of trial 70s an a 90 model but it didnt have the big wheels like this does. I never know they made one with big wheels. I had a sl70 with same wheels and forks almost as this, but it was a regular dirtbike frame. Awsome score.❤

When I was a kid, Busch Gardens in Williamsburg had a fleet of Honda Trail 90s, but they were the step-through CT90 model. I didn't realize that they made a Trail 90 so similar to the Trail 70.

GREEN FRAME my guess is he powder-coated it bc he saw it was in good condition except the holes and ive drilled dozens of bigger holes in frames to save weight im 80% that frame is fine though id strip the coating and make that 80% in to 100% b4 rebuilding and riding it

used to have a CT70; went to sleepover camp one summer and the groundskeeper would bust around the place on a ST90. Had to do a doubletake; frame looks damn close to the 70 just with taller wheels

once again the boys are so excited when the motor kicks over that they FIRST think of ripping it when half the bike needs to be buttoned up, NOW WHO HASN'T BEEN THERE BEFORE?
