Also, a note to anyone who decides to do a game or a project that has sensitive copyrights. There has been several projects in the past where the team completely worked on it in complete silence and released it when it was finished for free and dumped online. This worked wonders for those projects. Shedding a light , giving trailers and gameplay, early previews, just asks for trouble. It's terrible universal went after this one, but next time just keep it a secret until its done.

Yeah just like that star trek galaxy class fan project ...... oh wait. It met the same fate once a youtuber(with enough subs) started making videos about it, it had to be taken down. IP holders don't care about fans, they have a legal department and they need to do something in order to justify they existince.(don't put cars, colas, tanks in your game either unless you have a license for that)

Yeah, but the downside is that, other than it still being able to be taken down, it doesn't receive the same popularity that could possibly (but almost never) save it from just being shut down.

Wouldn't wanna damage the vision of the filmmakers that make such masterpieces as the Jurassic World franchise. What a tragedy that would be.

This is why I always advocate for fan games to keep quiet until release or near release of their projects. It hurts the hype build up, but it keeps the big studios from noticing until it's too late to stop you. It's a real shame to see such a promising project struct down by corpo clowns.

I love how they're worried about this hurting the vision of directors when more love is gone into this game than most of the movies combined. This is literally the most love director could get. They're just worried that people will love this game more than anything they've put out or at least almost anything

Of course people will love this more than anything out of the JP franchise in the past decade, because this actually connects with what made it so engaging in the first place, playing into that "Oh my god, these things are genuine monsters, and roaming around" feeling. If it puts Universal to shame, then they can't have that, even if they could give their blessing, and if it turns out well, officially license the game, and make absolute bank off of someone else's actual passion.

Please universal…. Please give us this game, they should either make it official or at least allow it to be made so long as it gives a disclaimer

Having the lawyer from the first movie in the thumbnail reminds me of when John Hammond mentioned that the lawyers won't let him dream of doing the park the same way universal did

I’m honestly very disappointed. You’re not the first and sadly you won’t be the last. You guys did an incredible job making this and deserve the best from it! I just wish Universal would understand this and instead hire you guys and help fund (pennies for them) a really cool Jurassic game that fans have been wanting for Over a Decade. Going back to the trailer after what happened... When I first saw this trailer it was like seeing the film for the first time again--you could feel the passion and wonder behind it all. Being so enthralled by such joy again it legitimately made me cry, but that dream is gone now, and all I can say is sorry for you and your team. No one should have to be denied their one true passion

You can always try to ask klayton fioriti fore help he's a big name in the Jurassic Park community and unlike other KZreadrs he knows some people who worked in Jurassic world films and with universal. So to me that's honestly the closest you can get to Universal.

As a game dev for almost 20 years and a Jurassic Park mega fan for much longer, this is such a sad situation. Incredible work guys and I would love to play something like this. I can’t imagine how difficult this latest news has been, especially since your demo has me more hyped than most AAA full releases. I am in awe of your passion and dedication so I look forward to whatever you work on next even if the JP ip is removed

Honestly I would just make your own dinosaur IP at this point. You got such a good base game here. What made Jurassic park feel so good anyways was environment, the 90s tech, and believable dinosaurs. You can copyright claim any of that.

So sorry to hear it. The JP Operations reveal trailer made me feel more in 2 minutes than all 2 1/2 hours of JW Dominion. What you guys have done is incredible! At the very least, congratulations on being so talented and achieving such success that it can easily be mistaken for something a team of dozens or hundreds would produce.

Watched the movie last night and what an abomination it was. The plot is so overused and there was no thrill or suspense whatsoever. The movie was purely a nostalgia bait with zero substance. Glad I didn't watch it in the cinema.

This absolutely sickens me. I’ve seen this happen to other projects before. The way universal treats jurassic fans is fucked up. they did that whole amber society thing where they had actors playing fans fake debating each other over jp stuff… then they have “fan fridays” on their social media where they release “fan” videos that have very little to do with jp other than dinosaurs without crediting the “fans” who made them. when you have actual fans pouring their heart and soul into a project only to get shut down… shit’s disgusting. i’m so sorry man, you deserve better

Even with this news, you have still made something amazing that fans have been wanting for a long time. All ten thousand of us appreciate all the effort you have put in and you can't wait for you to finish the demo despite this.

So sorry to hear about this. The dedication that all of you put into this game is something that should be respected and admired not penalized. As a lifelong Jurassic fan I could not of been more disappointed in Jurassic World Dominion and to be completely honest wanted nothing to do with the franchise anymore after that film. But this game actually brought my excitement back with how stunning it looked visually and all the nostalgic feelings it brought back from my childhood. I applaud you guys for continuing development on the demo, and hope that universal does the right thing and lets you release the full game in the end.

Heartbreaking as fan of the series and a fellow indie developer. I truly hope you and everyone working on this project find a new awesome gig. You guys deserved a lot better.

It really does suck the sheer amount of work put into this, a game that the fanbase has wanted since Operation Genesis' days were run out, would be taken down like this. I'm personally very disappointed in Universal for not seeing that this won't hurt them and that if anything it can bring the love back to the franchise.

I'd love to see some evidence for your claim that more unlicensed imitation content "will attract more fans to the IP", when historically, that's never been the case for niche fan projects that already have a substantial following in the dedicated fan community. The fact is, this game is using copyright content which is illegal. Furthermore, there's no evidence that a game with less depth than Choo Choo Charles is going to attract new fans to a 30 year old movie and translate to profit for Universal. Finally, you have no idea what games Universal are working on, and allowing someone to rip off their IP for a theorised profit proposed by a teenager in the KZread comments section with a highschool education, is just being ridiculous.

With the World Trilogy, they showed time and time again that they don't give a shit about quality. They'll released the shitiest movies/games because they know that fans blinded by nostalgia will give them money. This franchise is dead since 1997

If Universal indeed noticed the dedication pored into this game, I hope it at least tells them how much fans want a game like this and how far other fans are willing to go to deliver on that wish. They clearly only went after it because of how much attention it's getting.

Tbh, I'm really sad that this "ended" this way. It was such a great idea, with locations only covered in the book, it would have been so amazing to see this in it's full version. You guys did a great job, I just hope the best for you project.

What concerns me is that with the technology at where it is right now - the accessibility and increasing ease of using systems like Dreams or Unreal 5 and systems like Metahuman and procedural generation making content easier, clashes between fan projects and official IP owners are only going to get more common. 🤔 My advice is that if Universal can’t play ball you develop a game based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s Lost World since that is definitely in the public domain.🥰

The latter only cares about placing a price tag on everything produced under the IP name without care for those who it can damage. They know that they can’t govern fan works so instead of healthy compromise they resort to snuffing them out through legal means. Absolutely sickening. And sadly expected.

It is a bit weird for them to say this could potentially damage their IP image, even tho their last few movies weren't exactly doing any better to theirs. Nevertheless I hope this new spin on the idea (or a coat of paint) goes well! Such an amazing concept shouldn't be wasted.

I don't think they care about their already brain damaged IP. They own it but that's about it. They club it round the head every few years and it spits out a billion then gets shuffled back under the stairs

Fan works that fall under fair use acting as free advertisement of the official product clearly doesn’t satiate the greed of mainstream corporations like Universal Pictures when all they care about is governing how many things they can place a price tag over. Universal was so preoccupied with whether or not they could they didnt stop to think if they should. It's heart breaking that this happened to you guys. I hate seeing fan projects like this get shut down. Yeah, that would be an ideal dynamic. Just don’t expect high chances of that happening when dealing with an infamously difficult to work with corporation.

I am sad that such and incredible project like Jurassic Operations isn’t considered by Universal as something that should be made and released for fans to enjoy. I deeply hope the best for you and your whole team of such fantastic people that help bring to light these amazing game. I am genuinely hopeful that there is some change in thought by Universal to just see that these is something they should look into. I have played for Jurassic Park Builder, JW the game, and JWE 1 And 2 and JW alive and yes there fun and interesting games but I would agree that it’s time for something new. I agree that other games like Fnaf have great fan games so why can’t Jurassic just have that to. I see that there is a for protection but if they don’t create something like Jurassic Operations who will. I’m pretty sure that the only reason that this happened is because it is on a video game that you would have to purchase. Like you mentioned, there are other fan games that haven’t seen this action happen yet but majority of those games take place through a download. The reason why I believe they targeted you is because your game can only exist and be played through the purchase of a game that you then have to search for your game. Meaning universal is not getting money for the purchase of this game that is not licensed. If there is any way that you could potentially get a modded PlayStation to allow you to drop your assets into a file and boot it up onto a PC. I think he would run into less legal problems. Hopefully this helps.

That’s one of the legal problems with it indeed, as fan games can’t be sold, and with dreams the access has to be paid in some way. That could be fixed if Media Molecule and Sony allowed us to manually add content ourself in dreams by usb or Wi-Fi. But I doubt that they are suddenly going to change how dreams content distribution works so many years after release. One of the other problems is probably that the game music and design ( architecture, costume etc ) are clearly a copy of the original movie, which can be considered as copyright infringement. It’s not only influenced by, but it’s also trying to be as close and faithfull to the original movie as possible. Which was also why it looked so promising and amazing.

Thank you guys so much for what you have done and are doing. It makes me beyond happy to see fan games like this one that have so much of the love, care, and attention to detail poured into it that could only come from true fans. It breaks my heart to the deepest levels to hear such news I, too, prayed wouldn't come. I've waited for so many years like hundreds of thousands of other JP fans, always checking and combing the internet, hoping to see something from a developer about a new JP game like or similar to the one you guys have beautifully crafted. Thanks again, guys, for all your hard work and a truly breathtaking and awe-inspiring JP game we always wanted. Good luck with your ventures and games to come, keep on doing what you love. krenaution A similar situation happened to a mod for a Total war game. It was a lord of the rings mod to avoid legal trouble they couldn't call it a LOTR project instead they called "the dawnless days."

I really liked how you added river adventure it’s my favorite ride I was looking forward to it the most in the game 😭

Regardless of what Universal says, this looks incredible, and is hands down more 'on brand' and interesting than a park simulator/RTS, or the slew of attempts in the past to do any sort of immersive game (i.e. trespasser). Congrats, even if this doesn't get released as is, it looks to be the best "Jurassic" game yet. I always agreed that Jurassic Park was more survival horror/sci fi than an action genre at heart anyways. Hope it finds its way to release! (although, it's likely they want to attach voice actors of their choice to the project, who are protected by the IP)

Bummer. I hope they change their minds. This is the best JP passion project out there.

Can they even legally do it? This might fall under fair use. Now you just need to fill the game full of references trashing universal. Like PoP TV in Megas XLR being a dig at MTV.

Universal has the right to send a cease and desist to deter people from using their intellectual property. But they can't do a thing about an original IP that's inspired by (or parodies) their work. There's no reason this game can't exist with minimal changes.

They wanted rexy to be the super hero like marvel movies, ever since it went to jurassic world the whole franchise went into a super hero style movie except with ugly dinosaurs. They should really bring back the classic horror style back into JP

If this is the case, I'm hoping your work inspires Universal to push for a new approach in any new Jurassic games that _isn't_ another park builder. It has a whole lot of love and polish to it that you don't really get in even Evolution. (Don't get me started on Ludia games...)

I completely understand corporations wanting to protect their IPs. The thought of having something out there, with your IPs logo on it, that you have absolutely no control over is a pretty scary thing. What if someone were to include questionable/distasteful/controversial material in the game, and now suddenly your IP is associated with that, when in reality you had nothing to do with it? So I understand where they are coming from. However, it really is a bummer because these games often fill a void that hasn't been filled by the franchise owners. Years ago some fans made a fully interactive walkthrough of the Enterprise-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It was something fans had always wanted, but never been given from Paramount. The ability to just walk around and admire such an iconic ship in Sci-Fi history. But it suffered the same fate as Jurassic Park Operations. I hope that corporations might be more open, in the future, to fan games as long as they aren't selling the game for a profit and they include watermarks to clearly state that they are not an officially licensed product. Maybe someday they'll come to see these games as free marketing and helping to keep interest alive in their aging franchises. Because let's be real, when your most recent films are Fallen Kingdom and Dominion, you should probably welcome any help you can get when it comes to getting people excited about Jurassic Park.

Man, I really hope that Universal comes around. I think there is so much here fans want. Good on you keeping a good head about this whole thing.

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what you claim, or even what your intentions are. It's like that James Van Der Beek Power Rangers trailer back in the day - it doesn't matter that it was not for profit. What matters is if it could be mistaken for the real thing in the marketplace. Sucks that they chose to enforce it on you. Why not change the name to Dino Park or something and complete the full game you set out to make? Seems like this could be a blessing in disguise, opening the door to something you could release officially and profit from.
