I would have grabbed that quilt for $8.25 in a heartbeat! Regardless! It’s clean, intact and functional. Nothing cozier than a quilt. I think I see my husband’s old high school blazer fabric in it though! 😂

This time of year, especially, I would buy that quilt and donate it to a women's shelter or homeless shelter or other charity whose clients could use a large, warm, functional quilt.
I think Sue was correct about that quilt. However, my Grandmother used to order quilting materials from “Sears and Roebuck” the materials often matched designs or color themes, but they were never nice square blocks. They were leftovers from their clothing factories. So you might have a few larger pieces but most were odd shaped and varying sizes. She cut them to her patterns ,that she used so often , she transferred them to pasteboard or a plastic backed cheesecloth 😳 I helped her when I was no more than 8yrs. By then she set the pieces together on her treadle machine then hand quilted the rest. 🌹

I’m a quilter and Sue is absolutely right about that quilt! It’s not that a warm blanket is not a great thing and everyone deserves one, but that blanket is not a handmade American quilt. Good job Sue!

Looks like the madras material I think that's how it was spelled, that was manufactured wide spread in US in the 60s / 70 error
I wish I had a sue in my life!!
I often wonder if people call me a “shopaholic” too because I thrift so much 🤣🤣. That quilt was beautiful, but I definitely learned a lesson on quilts today !
Jocelyn, I love the coral lamp, it is so unique & one of a kind. YES...you grabbed that cat bowl !!! Another item I really liked.
Joce, I find it hilarious that you refuse to break the rules by peeling the price tag to see the maker's mark. But you just know that if you hand it over to "Rule Breaker Sue", she'll take a peak. And you stand by encouraging her and anxiously asking "what's it say, what's it say?" You two are quite the team! Too funny!
You broke my heart by putting back the pink depression glass!
My brother was in our goodwill last night and the manager actually stated that their CEO had the nerve to say (with a straight face) that people had been calling and complaining that they were under pricing things and losing money. THEY REALLY THINK WE ARE STUPID! !!

I really enjoy sue's analysis of the quilt. I think she's right on. My mom quilted for years and I can't picture her throwing random plaid pieces together like that. And even if she did she'd make sure the squares aligned correctly.
As a long-time quilter, Sue is 100% correct. The quilt is mass produced to ‘look’ hand made. Sue is a great detective! Thank you CCL for your channel and the awesome content.
First, about the quilt, my mother in law worked at a clothing manufacturer in the 1940s. It wasn't unusual for the employees to have first dibs on the scrapes. Secondly, I have a quilt made from those scrapes and it was put together by my father in law. Nothing matches. The squares are sewn together in strips and then the strips are sewn. Thirdly, plaids are hot again in homegoods. Tommy Hilfiger and Nautica both have them as well as several others.
I can't tell you how much I adore the two of you. Just filled with humor and information.
In the 1990's those large-scale mixed plaid quilts were very popular at places like Pottery Barn. They were of good quality and that one looked in good shape. I think that it would gave been a good purchase for day-to-day use, but not for resale.
I would have been so excited to find that quilt! (I have 3 boys!) But I agree, its not old. It's probably Pottery Barn Kids. I think the print is called Madras.

You’re definitely right Sue. I have my grandmother’s quilts made from leftovers and they are made of a vast number of fabrics.
Sue really had me fooled for a while, thinking she was going to advise you to buy the quilt! Then her expertise came shining through with that explanation (on which I totally agree). SUE, YOU ARE A MASTER!
Oh no you didn’t get the checkered blanket!!! Agree with Ms. Sue the checkered patterns are nicely coordinated. Great for the holidays & none holidays. Goes great with modern farmhouse interiors!

18:17 I think it’s a very nice and well made quilt that would go nicely on a child’s bed.
I love Sue! She is so sweet and funny 🤩
That quilt is from pottery barn kids. My son had it. It was actually quite nice & very cozy but definitely not vintage or what u are looking for. 😃
Happy to see a goodwill haul with SUE! The two of you are fun to watch. I can't wait to see another one.
I agree with Sue about the quilt. It’s a lot plaid of the same type, plus even if Gramma bought fabric to make a quilt (rather than using left overs) ONLY using plaid doesn’t feel right, especially on both sides. Usually the back is plain or at least one piece.
I love watching you gals together. Miss seeing Sissy with you. Have a happy holiday season
Sue is such a rebel! That's one of the many reasons we love her so much!
Speaking of too much inventory ... My husband just said “our house is not a warehouse” in which I replied. Well your 18 x 18 man cave would make a great warehouse. Hee hee! Shut him down
Love her explanation on the quilt!! Useful bit of knowledge! I collect old quilts!
The blanket is styled on kantha quilt. It's a purposefully embroidered that way. Usually made from layers of saris East Indian in origin. The beauty lies in the uneven stitching.
I think that Sue was right about the quilt. It was serendipitous for her to find the small dishes that matched the large one she already had.
I always respect your first reaction to the items! You really do have the ability to know a profit when you see it!
I am so happy you are considering pink depression glass. I love it
OMG - I love Sue! She’s so knowledgeable.
Thanks for sharing and taking me shopping with you both nice finds. Have a wonderful weekend.
The quilt would be lovely in a cabin or in a boys room! The fabrics could come from a sample book of fabrics. A lot of quilters buy coordinated checkered fabrics to make those simple quilts. If you buy six coordenating yards you can make this quilt! But I must say that what Sue thinks might be right too, that it is a Chinese import but what the heck, for that price?? It was worth it anyway.
The quilt reminded me of madras plaid from the 60’s, my first quests was imported
I think Sue is spot on with the quilt. 👌
I've now taken to calling my hubs a "fun sponge" when he pooh-poohs my purchases (the ones he sees). He doesn't find it all that amusing, isn't that fun-spongish of him? Bwahahaha!!!
I think Sue was right about the quilt. My Mother & Grandmother made many quilts, never that many matching fabric pieces & their stitches were always the same length
SUE is incredibly knowledgeable in soooo.... many topics, please have her give us a LITTLE background about her past occupation and how she started collecting. Thanks for all the fun. My favorite quote “ FUN SPONGE!” Love it! 👍😂👍

Joan Cook Maybe she talks about that on her channel! It’s called SUE Me. Great videos over there too. She goes into detail about individual items!
That’s a great quilt for a picnic blanket. I don’t think it’s old. It’s a combo of some handmade stuff to it and some commercial. The look is to new. Great haul on the rest of the items you found and bought. That ice bucket and glasses my favorite color. Lamp to cool.
I didn’t care for the colors and patterns of the quilt or I would have snatched it up for 8 dollars! It was a nice size! Always a pleasure shopping with you two! 🥰
Totally agree with Sue on the quilt!
I love Jocelyn and Sue videos 🎄♥️🎄
Love the quilt Sue, good eye
You guys have it all! Fun, entertaining, and educational!
I'm with Sue. I love the reticulated pieces. So pretty to me. Just a funny FYI. I was in my garden shed earlier today looking for something and I found one of my previous planter purchases......turns out it was a Haeger planter. I believe I've had it for years and never knew anything about it. Now that I have been watching your channel I'm much better educated. Thank you. PS. I'll probably keep it, it has some damage and darn it all, I like it.
I love the coral lamp! I never find such interesting lamps at my local Good Will!
Great video as always, the quilt to me, looks like someone made it, that was just learning. The coral lamp, leave as is on a table near the older birdies. I'm sure they would enjoy sitting on it. Ha ha! Ok have a great day ladies.
Merry Christmas and happiest of New Year to you and your family!
Learning so much from your knowledge ATM I'm facing unloading 3 estates . . . . overwhelming exhausting so cold in our BARN. Watching your videos is the best use of my time.
Thank you , Sue, for the quilt lesson!!!
I would've bought the quilt and given to one of the pitiful homeless who sleep underneath bridges. It is very cold here. Sometimes they stack old things on the cardboard so the ground isn't so cold and hard.

I just wanted to share, not sure who makes them, but in our area, they make blankets out of plastic bags. I helped a homeless guy move into a small place, and he gave me one of them. There great for on the ground or under a tent. 😊⛺🌳

@scottvan What a horrible thing to say! Obviously, you don’t know that most American families are 1-2 paychecks away from homelessness. My dtr. works the homeless and YOU would be shocked at how many people wind up homeless. Professional, highly educated people who for one reason or another wind up homeless. Not all but more than you would think. Your comment is disgusting.

That looks like a kitchen towel quilt, pretty cool for a boys room. Still watching
The quilt was farmhouse beautiful to me. If I was there I would have gotten it. I understand why u passed on It up. U really got some nice things.
Glad you took a chance on that GW and actually found some nice things. It is always fun to see what you come up with. That quilt will make someone else happy for that price and you were saved the price and effort of mailing a bulky item. I do hope shippinng costs don't strangle your business, as it seems it is getting higher every day. My Sis just sent me a small package, that wasn't even heavy and it cost her over $10 to ship. I found that stupidly outrageous. I sent a baby quilt to my brother this last summer, for his new baby. I live in Washington state and he lives in North Carolina. It cost me over $16 to ship the quilt, more than what I paid for the quilt itself. I thought buying a like new baby quilt at GW for $4.99 would save me money, but in the end I could have ordered a new quilt from Amazon and had it shipped directly to him for less money, time, and effort. No doubt you have to weigh this in you mind as you make shopping choices too. Thanks for another great shopping adventure with you and Sue. It is always a pleasure. Have a great day!
It’s a pottery barn kids quilt. My son has it on his bed right now.
So glad to see you 2 today....sort of down, you help❤
Yes! Sue, when you were contemplating the blanket and you finally said Asian import I actually cheered. My mom and I were at Macy's this weekend and in the Martha Stewart collection, there was a quilt and I mentioned to my mom how crappy the quilting was. The fabric was different but the stitching was exactly like the Goodwill blanket. I had a feeling it wasn't an antique.
More pink depression glass please! I always wondered why you were passing it up. I love it so much!
Love when you find quilts and afghans :)
I feel the need to add, simply looking at the tag would have saved a ton of time lol. But education and info is always appreciated
It's called "hootchenroiter" - from Northern Bavaria. Quite collectible. Love your videos!
I wish you would do a video every once doing a video of what sold and how much and how long it took to sold. I’m really curious.
I like the quilt. I think it is one that is made for a place like Pottery Barn Kids. Yeah, not Grandma's but still cute.
Loved that quilt, I'd have grabbed it, it's a warm quilt and that's never bad.....
That material in that guilt reminds me of India Madris. Sue you should remember India Madris, we had shirts and burmuda shorts made of that, it was very Kool to wear Madris the in the sixties.
Omg that lamp is everything!
I thought the quilt was comphy! The stitching even if a childs was easy and simple. I like the overall feel of that quilt. Somehow breezy and refreshing. A summer quilt!
I am a quilter and I am not upset you did not take the quilt. . I think Sue is correct in her evaluation. Love to see your videos!
Hi ladies, a good easy thing to remember is "A Stitch in Time saves Nine" so hand sewn quilts were stitched 9 stitches per inch
I'm new subbie and totally addicted to your channel. WHY? Idk.. but now you have me flipping item's in my house and looking them up. I'm quite shocked what I have learned. And after watching you and Sue, I'm looking the shelves also when my husband and I went to the local thrift store yesterday and I scored a Vintage USA pottery creamer for .25. I've learned a lot from y'all.. Thank you..
Sue's reticulated plate had a stand for it. It had a medal bar with a hook to go on the plate. The stand itself is porcelain.
I am in total agreement with Sue and the quilt.
Yes😉 I've given my fun sponge title back to Sue!
My mom has shell serving pieces similar to the one you found. She bought them about 30 years ago at a restaurant supply store.
Lord at the quilts I have given away through the years. I sure wish I had them now.
I love how Sue worked through the quilt...
Madras plaid quilts are often from India, where the authentic Madras plaid is woven. Retailers such as Land's End have made a point of importing authentic Indian Madras plaid quilts - they aren't cheap, and can be sewn Kantha-style, which is with a large running stitch, such as yours. Kantha stitched items are done in protected workshops, where the women receive a living wage, and the loose stitch style is prized.
Love your videos! I've been watching so regularly that I actually dreamed last night that I was thrifting and found a macramé hanging pumpkin. It was overpriced at 13.99 then it weirdly turned into a dress!
Quilt looks like a Pottery Barn quilt.

The Quilt is from pottery barn from about 9 years ago.I got one for my kiddos room. Still if you sold it on ebay you would prob be able to sell it for around 60.00 or more! It is quality though, I washed my sons quilt so so so many times and still looks great!
Sue, the reticulated bowl isn't a wall plate, it's the bowl for a footed fruit bowl. The footed stands sometimes tend to break off. I find these pieces all the time in a thrift store I go to.
Sue is smart, delightful, and interesting but fun sponge - never. Great video loved the quilt.
I love Sue!! peel those stickers!!
My version of getting “Lucky”is a bit different than Sue’s BUT I finally flipped a Goodwill item & made $50.00. Hit resale this time of year as most list Christmas items for 1/2 off so getting lot’s of vintage for $1 or $2 bucks! Never have I seen a list of rules in Goodwill & if there were I would start by 1: Keep your children under control 2: Don’t Blow Up the bathroom
Oh i laughed so hard imagining sue packing a knife walking into goodwill saying right stickers its on and now you have 2 fun sponges Jocelyn lol
