Danielle Spargo Haha! I got chased by four or five swans for the same reason once, but none of them ever got me. They sort of got freaked out when my tiny 5 year old self slapped the leader in the face and screamed, “DO YOU WANT A PIECE OF THIS?!” in a really childish, high-pitched voice. I probably said that because I’d seen it on TV somewhere or something. My dad was trying to drag me away and these swans were just staring at me like I was some sort of lunatic. XD

I go to our local zoo regularly to pet some goats and I remember that I used to be super afraid of them because the same thing happened to me as a kid. One of them even ripped a piece out of my sundress while chewing on it lol

That alpaca farm has llamas too. The ones with longer ears are the llamas. The brown fluffy one that turned away was an alpaca. Alpacas are smaller than llamas. Llamas have longer snouts than alpacas. If you touched their fur, alpacas are softer than llamas. Llamas are the ones that spit. Alpacas rarely spit.

omg that movie was my fav thing as a kid and I loved the game!!!!!

My grandmother-in law used to own an alpaca farm and would make felted hats out of it and show the yarn at fairs. She'd put the names of the alpaca that provided the wool for the yarn on the skeins and everything :P She passed away earlier this summer (a few weeks before our wedding, unfortunately) and her family wasn't interested in keeping any of the yarn or wool, so they gave it to me since I knit and I'm trying to learn how to spin yarn. She always gave me some of her yarn and wool for Christmas and it was always my favorite gift. So when my mother-in-law showed up with two garbage bags full of knitting and spinning notions and alpaca yarn, you can imagine it was like, Christmas x20 for me. Alpaca fiber is REALLY nice- it's really warm and light. Not super great for things like hats or socks unless you blend it with another stronger and stretchier fiber because it doesn't have much stretch to it. Wool taken from a baby alpaca's first shearing is considered to be especially luxurious!

I wonder....one of the many reasons you two go to places with cute animals, it's mostly so Jun can see and film Rachel having a cuteness-overload reaction? :D

in my experience, Alpacas spit when they are irritated, and alpacas typically provide lots of warning.

Melissa L I have Alpaca yarn in the house, it's sumptuous! Only thing softer is Vicuna and that is terrifyingly expensive. Like over $100 for a single 50g ball of wool, not even enough to knit a single sock.

They're similar looking and are closely related. I feel like one difference is that llamas are larger. I need to look this up. Edit: I just googled it. I was right. Llamas are bigger than alpacas; about twice the size to be exact. There are several other differences, but another notable difference is ear shape and size. A llama's ears are long and banana-shaped, while alpacas have ears that are shorter and spear-shaped.

OrangeFluffyCat You're right. I just googled it. Cool! Another similar animal. I've never heard of that one before. They're actually called Guanacos, though. It's always really fun for me to learn new animals. I watched a lot of Animal Planet when I was little, so I love collecting animal facts :)

Jumping through the video real quick it's a bummer to see they are all on dirt and not grass for them to graze. They also love to be up high, even if it's a couple of inches they will all play king of the hill. I miss being an alpaca farmer.

Love the alpaca farm visit! They are sheered like sheep for their fur / wool. It's combed, spun into yarn and used in tons of textiles. If you go to a specialty wool shop you can find Alpaca fur there to buy. I love Alpaca ... I'm not allergic to it like I am with wool. It's wonderful to use in my hand-weaving and crocheting :)

My number place to go to!!!!!!! The only time I've seen alpacas when I went alpaca trekking. I also have a picture of me hugging an alpaca. And feeding alpacas is the scariest thing ever. They try to bite you!

I love alpaca! Not only are they adorable, they also make the best yarn! I knit and crochet. I find alpaca yarn to be the softest, coziest, warmest yarn without being super expensive

One of my neighbor's used to farm alpacas. It sounded like a heard of cats meowing in the distance. At least that's what I thought when I was little. They moved a few years ago I kind of miss their weird sounds. There is some industrial moving in now so they wouldn't really be that happy anymore if they were still in the area.

it sounds like children play screaming to me. Same. The end of their property met the road and my parents knew them so we got to feed them when they roamed down to our end. They were so gentle taking food

I was so excited to hear about alpacas from Colorado. There are a lot of alpaca ranches in colorado. Having originated from the Andes, they are very well suited to to the cold and high altitude. They have a lot of Tibetan yaks here too for the same reason.

Yeah, my aunt and uncle have an alpaca ranch at their house along with my three cousins, I’ve been there before and their so cute! But the bugs there bite like it’s the end of the world, it’s still pretty cool though.

Alpaca wool is amazing. It is about 8 times warmer than sheep wool, and is softer, and is still good at draining away water (unlike cotton). Also, so fluffy!

when the alpaca ears are downwards and backwards like they are the beginning when you first see them in the video, when the old ladies are feeding them- that's means that they are not happy, they're kind of pissed and they want to get what's they're looking after. if the ears are up and forward then it means that they're calm and you can pet them and they'll probably not spit at you ^_^

I live in Colorado and knowing that Colorado sent alpaca to Japan to bring happiness made my day.
