Ok you know I’m going to butt in and send suggestions. What about a white wash of the inside of the root cellar? It will lighten the place up making it easier to see and it would be a cleaner look for food stuffs. A pump up sprayer will work and go faster while nothing is in it. We put 5 coasts on my granddad’s my grandmother loved it. It almost seals it up it not really. It’s not a waterproof solution but it keeps the dirt where it is supposed to be. Next idea, is the door solid or hollow? If solid no problem Thompson water seal does that. If if it is hollow we have used expanding foam to fill the voids. A small drill hole a can of foam and the long thin tube and shoot it in. We used it for insulation value it works fantastic! Stay warm, hope Crew is hanging in there. Love and prayers for all of you❣️❣️❣️

I bet it felt good to close that door! I think it's better to make slow progress than to step back later and say I really wish we had done this or that differently. I can almost see your minds working out how you want it to look when a project is finished as you're getting it done. Of course we as viewers don't always know exactly what that is until you finish a project, which makes it even more fun for us to follow! Slow and steady never lost the race, your dedication to your family and the life you're building out there is a beautiful thing to see happening. Thanks for sharing your journey with us ❤

Also coyotes we being shot by the neighbors. Now we realize how much rodent control they all were doing. We have two kittens growing up now. Be sure to make all tiny holes filled from varmint wanting to share your space. 😊

In the Irish language a soul mate is an anam-chara. That is some one with whom you can lay bare your deepest and most private thoughts and feelings. It is someone whom you can talk to daily or even yearly or even decades apart and still pick up as if you had never parted.

When Jess stepped into the doorway, my mind went back to the day you saw the old cellar had failed. I can't even imagine how much joy you feel to have it better than that day. On the subject of soul mates, I do believe in soul mates. Maybe not so much in the conventional sense. The person in my life that I consider my soul mate is my best friend who is a gay male. I am a straight female, so our "mate" status is of the friendly nature. We are so very compatible, I have known of him for about 34 years. We have been close for about 24 years, and in all that time I have never been angry with him.

The way you spoke about the door, it sounds like it's a "hollow core" interior door. If that's correct, it won't be too long before it begins to come apart from the exposure to the weather. Even some of the "solid core" exterior doors don't hold up to the weather exposure. Question: Your Root Cellar stairway appears to NOT be covered in any way nor does the ground water appear to be "diverted" in any way away from it. Since that stairway offers a very nice downhill slope right to your root cellar floor, how do you expect to keep water from following that very natural path down to the cellar???
