Hit it way too fast, water went up the windscreen and into the top of the snorkel. That snorkel intake points a very bad direction. Also you can disconnect the hose from the intercooler to the engine manifold, start the engine and use the turbo to blow water out of the intercooler.

Another great vid. Heading that way in June. After drowning my fourbie in Tas a cuppla times, I now tape the two drain holes in each door before doing deep crossings. Only takes a cuppla minutes. Did the OTT and Frenchmans in August with taped drain holes. No water in the vehicle on the OTT, and just a cupful crossing the Pascoe. Makes a big difference I reckon, specially if you're sitting there for a while, as in my experience most of the water comes in through the doors, not the door seals. Just remember to remove the tape before it rains

Might be time to get a fwd facing 'norkel or changing the input of the rear facing. Yea you get more dust and bugs but thats what the filter is designed to stop. Obviously it doesnt stop water. Foam ear plugs in the drains in the bottom of the doors. Best thing to do for deep water crossing, especially if you may be in there longer than intended. Takes 2 mins to do all the drains and assuming you have good seals, it can keep water from entering the car for a pretty decent amount of time. Has saved me a few times from getting soggy carpets.

If ever crossing high water accelerate and keep the power on, the positive pressure from the engine will keep the water from being sucked into the engine and the forward movement will create a bow wave in front of the vehicle that's what I practised in the UK. never use your brakes only neutral to slow or stop but the foot should be pushing the accelerator pedal to the floor

@@yeahnah773 simple physics. They suck water (and dust) in. Having the intake facing backwards isn't enough thanks to the negative pressure within the snorkel. A proper snorkel will have a well designed snorkel head fitted that will reduce (or stop) this from occurring. We've seen video proof of this now on this very channel. Twice, with the same car. Wave went up the windscreen and straight into the snorkel thanks to the negative pressure created by the engine demanding air. A snorkel head would have stopped this water ingress. Simply, the water as it rushed up the windscreen/snorkel neck would have struck the bottom of the snorkel head and would then been redirected away from the intake.

@@LostDunny2023 no offence to you but you know you can aim the snorkel any way you want right? You know that the structure of stainless far outweighs plastic? Also the air in the smooth large cylindrical pipe far outflows the plastic counter parts. For example I have a 4 inch stainless with a ram head on top. If I wanted less airflow to my engine I’d put the plastic one back on. Nice and skinny so the air molecules are squeezed hotter. I think there is room to open the mind there to be frank
