    Great off road truck review comparison, always nice to see them do the same things in the same conditions back to back. Since I have no major truck driving experience mostly have had cars and one crossover, I would end up having to go with the more nimble RAM Rebel, but I also like the Power Wagon. Nathan and Stephen agree that the Power Wagon don't care. One of your reasons about having more gear than needed is why I like the Colorado ZR2 vs a standard mid sizer like even the Colorado Z71 or the Ford Ranger FX4, packages, etc... I am single with no kids so the mid size truck segment is perfect for me. I could get use to a 1500 size truck, but an HD would take me longer to get use to driving, especially in any city traffic or on tight lane and a half country road.

    awesome video. Luv the views on that trail. When i drive my current power wagon and my old Ram 1500 off road i shift on the fly around tight corners. It will kinda give you an idea of just how much room that IC takes up and how vulnerable it is with that AEV bumper. Plus you still have the oil pan to contend with if you want the same articulation from the factory that you get with the 6.4. Then you add in the weight, which with the obviously heavier Cummins itself, but everything else needed to support it from a bigger transmission, larger cooling stack, extra battery etc., your tacking on an additional 750+ lbs. So, moral to the story, if you want a Cummins, just buy a Cummins RAM and add ARB's and a Carli swaybar, and the AEV bumper with winch and call it a day.

Most people traveling on these active FSR road cruise on these road at 30 to 50km/h till you have to slow down before the drainage ditches. They should have traveled to a real off road trail or a deactive FSR road, so many around (probably a couple just accessible on this road) and some are even maintained by off road clubs. TFL your review are awsome and I hope you brought some SxS or quads because BC has some amazing trails.

    The Tremor has no front locker, no disconnecting front swaybar, no factory winch, etc. I have the 2021 Power Wagon 75th anniversary and it's a BEAST of a truck. I do offroad it often and it's very impressive. The tremor, in comparison, is a joke. I put AEV rims 37 x 12.5 x 17s on the Power wagon (which fits without cutting) and the ride difference is stunning.

    Nice review & your mostly right about it being not much a price difference sadly but if youre not using it the mpg would kill most in the long run. As far as the diesel option that would be a bad idea -it would spike the price for starters -it would be worse offroad -the towing would be no where near its potential to be worth the upgrade essentially making it a ultimate poser truck.

  • @peteranoia4570
    @peteranoia45704 жыл бұрын

    Power wagon started the first switchback about 3 feet too late, and didn't cut fully into it at first. Also, Ram's reason for keeping the diesel option out of the power wagon is sound. First, the whole truck would need to be redesigned just to accommodate the winch with the diesel cooling packages on the front end. The weight distribution is significantly worse in an empty truck for off-road wheeling with the diesel option. The high-travel front end would also need to be completely re-engineered and modified from road applications. It might not make a price-point the market can support or even make economic sense from an RD standpoint. I'm a 2500 diesel owner, and I've driven mine off-road plenty and compared it to a Power Wagon. There is a distinct difference in feel and handling, if not capability, before the rear breaks traction or the front bogs.

I am driving a Ram 1500 now as a rental thanks to someone doing an illegal u-turn in front of me in my GX 460 and it has me considering Ram.. when I never had before. I was set on Ford for a truck.. but really like this Ram.

    Kain you add the dislocating sway bar to the rebel and add locker on the front instead of just the rear wheels and add fox shucks and a 360 camera to it

    My Grandfather has a 1996 dodge 2500 with over 470km and still going but if we had a camera back then it would show how he pulled out a fully loaded dump truck with a broken axle most the trails TFL shows is a road traveled on alot but my Grandpa went on the road that was just made if they gave the 12v Cummins diesel to the power wagon I would consider buying it but with the new 6.7 hemi it doesnt compare to the old 12v Cummins

    Since the Cummins is way to heavy for the power wagon I think they should have a trim that comes with a supercharged for an extra 100-150 horses, that’d be niiice

    2020 Rebel gets the updated Ecodiesel. Tow rating goes to 12,560 lbs. I'd get an Ecodiesel Rebel if it had 3:1 low range with front & rear diff locks. My biggest complaint is the crew cab Rebel only gets the 5'7" bed and can't option the 6'4" bed.

    I think the Rebel is 3" wider than the Power Wagon. Although the PW is 1/2 foot longer with a longer wheelbase, the width is going to be more prohibitive to west coast trails. And it has a suspension lift, not a body lift.

    RVA TOM Ford will have the power advantage, but I bet the Power Wagon will still dominate with the suspension and winch advantage. Will be a tough choice depending on towing requirements.

    Adam Harriger power wagon isn’t really for towing though it’s mainly just for off-road fun. Don’t think the power wagon will have much Competition ford waited to make the raptor so the power wagon would go soft because it had no true competitors

    o HITMAN14 o I was referring to the upcoming Ford Tremor, which will compete directly with the Power Wagon (hd off-road). Ford has 7.3 gas and 6.7 powerstroke diesel options both with 10spd transmission, higher tow ratings and payload than power wagon, but lacks disconnecting swaybar, and i dont believe a factory winch has been shown yet either- maybe later. I think strictly for off roading the power wagon still wins but for someone who for example hunts and tows a camper- the Ford may have an advantage. Will be interesting as I think alot of buyers in this segment fall into that outdoor recreation and towing group. My guess is the Tremor will sell at higher volume than the power wagon.

    Unfortunately, the Tremor was being called the Power Wagon killer, but fell short. I would have liked to see more competition for this segment of trucks to force the manufacturers to keep improving them.

    In the high clearance mode you gain ground clearance but lose articulation with that air suspension on the Rebel. I am not saying that's the only difference with the two trucks though. I'd rather get a Rebel and add some nice coilovers versus that air suspension if the truck was used offroad frequently.

    The rebel is good for a daily driver, the power wagon is good for off-roading but sucks for being a daily. The suspension on the rebel is softer and more comfy

  • @MultiPurposeReviewer
    @MultiPurposeReviewer4 жыл бұрын

    I believe another reason Ram doesn't put the diesel in the Power Wagon is that the increased space that the diesel takes up would encroach on the area currently occupied by the winch, which isn't something they want to get rid of.

    I’m sure it is as it’s suspension is designed for off roading, that’s why it can’t tow as much as the rebel. But I’m sure if you went aftermarket off road suspension for the rebel, which will make its tow rating lower a significant amount, it will do great off road. But due to the ifs, it’s better for fast off roading like sand dunes, trails etc, but the live axle on the power wagon is better for rock crawling (even though it’s size isn’t the best for rock crawling.) Im guessing that’s what the TRX is going to be, a rebel with off road tuned suspensions and some nice wide body styling (pre-runner style). So it’ll be great as a trail and sand rig, but not the best for rocks, which makes sense because that’s what the power wagon is for (full size rock crawler-ish.)

    That's my old off-roading grounds there. Now living in Texas and own a 2022 Power Wagon. Let me tell you, lift your Power Wagon and put a Carli King suspension and 37" Nitto Trail Grapplers on it and other than width you can do anywhere a Jeep Gladiator can go. Rebel can't do that.

    I dunno about that one the Gladiator has awesome aftermarket supports Buy a sport Model for about $36g and buy a EVO 6" lift $6g and able to run 40's for another add $16g for Dynatrac XD 60's and you are still cheaper than a fully loaded PW or Rebel.
